Last Sunday we looked at the amazing reality that in coming to know God, he transports us from being part of one dominion, into becoming part of God’s kingdom. A kingdom is the realm of influence under a king and every kingdom has a culture. A culture is shaped by its values, the core beliefs which the majority of people who live in that culture agree to. In our culture tolerance, democracy and equality are some of the core values. Values are usually shaped by those with the loudest voices and most power. Historically in most culture that has been those in leadership and authority, in a modern era of technology it could be said that is now those with the loudest voice in the media.
His kingdom is a kingdom of light and it’s a kingdom led by king Jesus. As people who have been transported into this kingdom we need to learn what the values of his kingdom are, because they are the values of the kingdom we are now a part of. I find this one of the most exciting and inspiring questions to be asking when I read the Bible.
What are the kingdom values which this passage expresses?
What does this story or letter or psalm teach me about the values God wants to install in his kingdom?
As you read the Bible, can I encourage you to be asking those questions. As we together discern and learn from God understanding and revelation of his kingdom values, then we’ll be able to adopt them as our own, so that St Chad’s becomes a place where the values of God’s kingdom become the values of our community. In that way we’ll see part of the answer to our prayer, ‘on earth as it is in heaven’. Richard

Congratula%ons to James Neal
We are delighted to make it public
that our youth worker James Neal
has been accepted for training for
ordinaon in the Church of
England. James aMended a selecon
'conference' in March, a gruelling 3
day event with interviews, group
exercises and constant
supervision! The report back from
the panel was hugely affirming of
James, his character, giBs and clear
call to ministry. We are delighted for
James and Emily and excited about all
that God is going to do in and
through them. Sadly the gain for the
wider Church of England is a loss for
St Chad's as James will leave his post
as youth worker with us at the end of
July, so that he can begin his training
in the autumn. The good news for us
is that with Emily's family living
nearby and them being sponsored by
Chester diocese, James and Emily will
stay in close touch with St Chad's.
The PCC have decided that we will
soon be adversing for a new youth
worker, so do look out for that and if
you know of anyone who might be
suitable, please encourage them to
consider it.
Services at Berrycro*
Our services in BerrycroB are on
the 2nd Sunday of every month.
Our next service will be on Sunday
13th May at 11am.
Stand Firm
The diocesan renewal day on May
19th has been postponed unl 2013.
Whilst there was a lot of interest in
the day, there were sadly insufficient
bookings to make the day possible at
the Cathedral as the date clashed
with a number of other local
events. Its very excing to be in a
diocese where a day with a vision
such as this is developing, please pray
for our Archdeacon Ian Bishop and
the core group taking this forwards.
