Through our Catholic Faith, GROWING IN MIND, HEART, AND SPIRIT TO BECOME LEADERS IN THE WORLD
During the month of November we will focus on all that we have in our lives for which we are grateful. As we reflect upon the blessings of the St. Barnabas Catholic School community, please know that I am so grateful for the following:
A hardworking and loving faculty and staff, dedicated to nurturing each student's academic, social, emotional and spiritual growth.
Parents and grandparents who are committed to the mission of the school.
Volunteers who give of their time so generously.
Our Pastors, Fr. Mahan and Fr. Eustace, and parishioners who understand, support, and care for the school unconditionally.
Beautiful students made in the image of Christ who make me smile every day. This month we will be mindful of the needs of those less fortunate by supporting local food banks through our annual Canned Food Drive. St. Barnabas Catholic School will be supporting a number of organizations with weekly donations throughout the month of November. These opportunities provide us moments to practice making sacrifices in our own lives as we minister to the needs of our neighbors.
Throughout the month of October we celebrated the lives of the Saints, culminating in the Holy Day of Obligation, All Saints Day. The community of saints provides for us examples of those individuals who have lived virtuous lives for God. Fr. Eustace shared with us this week how we are all called to be Disciples of Jesus Christ through the ways we extend love to one another.
The virtues of justice, fortitude, faith, hope and love are exemplified through the lives of the saints, and we strive to teach and model them daily at St. Barnabas Catholic School.
This Thanksgiving may you be nourished by the abundant blessings of family, friends, and faith and be filled with a grateful heart.
God bless,
Mr. Schnarr

An Update from SBS on our COVID-19 response
St. Barnabas Catholic School continues to take very seriously its commitment to be transparent with our COVID-19 response and keep our school parents informed about steps being taken to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff during the current pandemic. Each week, we will send you an update providing the number of cases reported at our school and information on how you can help to keep students engaged during this unprecedented time. We are happy to report that November 2-6 was a successful week of learning at St. Barnabas. School administration had two positive COVID-19 test results reported this week, and the appropriate notification and safety steps have been taken in each of those cases. Reminders for parents:
If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or is quarantining due to COVID-19 exposure, please contact the principal Mr. Schnarr at [email protected]. Include in your email:
The student’s name, grade level
A parent/guardian contact phone number
The date of test collection
Standard school procedures should still be used to report a daily absence for COVID-19 or for other reasons, or to ask health-related questions.
Marion County Public Health Department guidelines require students and employees to do a daily self-screen before coming to school. Please continue to honor this important self screening process.
Students who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 without being otherwise explained, are prohibited from coming to school. A student who is at home with COVID-19 symptoms may not participate in any after school activities to include practices, games, concerts, or other events.
Any student who is symptomatic may return to school after the following criteria have been met:
24 hours resolution of fever AND
A note from a healthcare provider stating the individual has an alternate diagnosis and the healthcare provider believes it's appropriate for the student to return to school.
We are all in this together! The assistance of all parents and students in following safety protocols including the wearing of face masks, frequent washing of hands and staying home if they feel they have any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 is very much appreciated. Please continue to pray for the safety and success of our school. God bless!

YOUTH MINISTRY My name is Sarah Wood and I am the Youth Minister for St. Barnabas, I am excited to be here and learn more about the parish. I am hosting a virtual listening session on November 9th from 6:30-7:30pm. The purpose of this meeting is to hear from families on how I can best serve the teens of this parish. Parents and students welcome. If interested please call or email me at 317-822-0724 x224 or [email protected] to receive the virtual link.
The Cadet B girl's basketball team is headed to postseason play next week. The 8th grade players recently enjoyed their final home game. They are coached by Miss Dearing (now Mrs. Johnson) and her dad, Pat Dearing. Good luck ladies!!!!!!
Tuesday was Election day in Kindergarten! We read a story about an election in the forest. We heard from the three candidates (Fox, Bear, and Beaver)- listened to their platform and we even registered to vote. The students voted for the candidate they thought would do the best job for the forest animals. We had a great time standing in a socially distant line with our masks on (just like all things 2020), signing in to vote, casting our vote in the ballot box, getting our "I voted" sticker, and finally- tally-ing the results.
