From the Pastors Desk: 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Sisters and Brothers,
It was a snowy weekend, it was truly EPIPHANY OF JESUS and revelation of the winter. At Saint Anne's
we were all well plowed here on church property, it wasn't so on the streets of our town or your driveways. It was
some test for our fitness to deal with the conditions of snow and cold. Personally I like snow for the fun of it and for
those who like winter sports, but not for the inconveniences that it creates and the cost that it makes for removal of
it. I want to thank those who helped to remove the snow and salted the paths. It's part of the four seasons that we have
on Long Island and makes us enjoy more of the rest of the year.
With the Baptism of Jesus this past Monday we have entered the Ordinary Time, so to say the normal sea-
son between Advent / Christmas and Lent / Easter special seasons. It will last until the Ash Wednesday on March 01
2017, the beginning of Lent.
Our Epiphany in St. Anne's was more special this year, for 28 children and youth who were baptized. They made it still more
special event by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior into their lives. What a special way to finish Christmas Season by giving Christ, ones
heart and life. Christ being born in the baptized persons in sacramental way. Jesus found welcoming hearts to be born again in them. We
did it at 9:00 and 11:00 Sunday Masses, and maybe the Masses lasted a 15 to 20 minute more but I hope you didn't mind. I believe it was
beautiful to see our young people and their families make their statement of faith with all the community. Let's keep those young people
in our prayers, may they always continue to grow in friendship with Jesus, and may Jesus always give them more signs of his love and
presence.
In the Gospel today we have John the Baptist point us to Jesus, with words that we have adapted for statement before Holy Com-
munion at Mass: "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. " Do we even notice what we are saying??? Isn't some-
thing that we need so much in this world of today or in our own personal lives ??? Lord could you take away all sin, all brokenness, all
violence, all lies, all infidelity, all injustice, all selfishness, all pride ??? Is this what you have set to do??? Can you do it faster??? Can you
do it in more radical way ??? Can you do it in Brentwood??? In New York??? In America??? In the whole world ??? Don't You hold the
whole world in your hands???
Lord help us to understand those words, that statement of John the Baptist that is the most credible witness you ever had. As You
said of him :" Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist ". Lord, how long is it
going to take you to accomplish that task??? When is the good going to win over the bad ??? Than John concludes: "Now I have seen and
testified that he is the Son of God ". How powerful are those statements? How much they mean to us ???
Answers to those questions we need to get for ourselves, what those statements mean to me today and now ???
God bless everyone and always!!!!
Have a great Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.
Fr. Stan
Did you get yet the Valentine's lottery tickets yet??? If not for yourself, get it for some you want to be a winner!!!
To win it, you have to be in it !!! Supporting it you support our parish.

MEGA RAFFLE II
Our Parish is, once again, undertaking a Fund-Raising Raffle, much like the Raffle we held last summer. There will
only be 300 tickets sold, each at a pr ice of $100.00 each. If we sell all 300 tickets, the pr izes will be:
1st Prize - $10,000.00 4th Prize - $500.00
2nd Prize - $ 2,000.00 5th Prize - $500.00
3rd Prize - $ 1,000.00 6th Prize - $500.00
The seller of the winning ticket will be awarded $500.00.
The drawing will be held at the Parish Valentine’s Dance on Saturday, February 11, 2017. The winners need not be
present, but tickets for the dance are now on sale.
Should a lesser number of tickets be sold, the prizes will be prorated on a 50/50 basis—50% of the tickets sales to the
winning numbers, and 50% to St. Anne’s Parish. Since there were many people who were unable to participate in the
last MEGA RAFFLE, because all the tickets had been sold, we would suggest that you purchase your tickets at your
earliest convenience.
