Welcome to St. André’s Parish! No matter who you are, where you’ve come from, or what brings you here, we’re so glad to have you with us. St. André Bessette (1845-1937) spent much of his life serving as the door-keeper of his religious community; like him, we strive to open doors for our neighbors to experi-ence the loving mercy of God. May Jesus fill your heart with his grace and peace!

St. André’s Parish Pastoral Council

Jennifer Champagne, Mary Haas, Aimee LeRoy, Ciara LeRoy (Youth), Bob Main, Molly McKee, Malcolm Miner, Daniel Ben-ware (Trustee), Jamie Pelkey (Trustee), David Petrelli, and Jeff Scharf. Your Pastoral Council members want to hear from you! Please feel free to approach them with your questions, suggestions, and concerns.

Is God Calling YOU The Lord will come when we least expect Him. Is he knocking now, asking us to serve as priests and religious? If you are considering a vocation as a priest, deacon or in the consecrated life, let the grace of prayer encourage you, call Fr. Steve at 483-1300 or 483-4074, or Cathy Russell, the Diocesan Vocation Co-ordinator at (315)393-2920, ext. 1450/[email protected]. See us also on Facebook or at www.myvocation.net.

From Fr. Steve…..

Many people have said they wish they could walk on water as Jesus did. Now I think that would be really fun, however, I would be more interested in driving out daemons (archaic spelling of demons) or changing water if I could do anything that Jesus could do. So seriously, there are many things that our Lord did that we all can do. In the midst of our trials and tribulation the Lord ex-tends his hand to us and we can extend our hands figuratively to one another during this pandemic by following science. This means wearing a mask and physically distancing ourselves from each other. I am well aware that this is not normal, and we do not want it to become the new normal. If you go back in history and study other serious pandemics, you will see that those who sur-vived did many of the things we are now being asked to do. COVID-19 is highly communicable. In many parts of our country there where people who thought they had escaped the problem and decided that they had nothing to worry only to realize that they have problems. This is a new disease and the scientist are still learning about it. What they do know that it is dangerous and must be taken very seriously. So lets do that, we must be very cautious. When I listen to health care professionals speak about their experiences, many of their peers have died from contracting the virus. We need to follow the science it is not a political issue, it is an issue of health, yours and mine.

PRAYER TO THE VIRGIN MARY FOR PROTECTION

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in

Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Our Lady of New York, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you

did a Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us,

Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will

and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself,

and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.

Do not despise our pleas - we who are put to the test - and deliver us from every danger,

O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Prayer During Coronavirus

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness, we ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as

you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our diocese, our nation and our

world, for our families and loved ones, the pro-tection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us to love one another and to be

patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of

Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence, knowing that you are our compassionate mother,

health of the sick and cause of our joy. Keep us in the embrace of your arms,

Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord AMEN.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the

Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive

You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

"There are three kinds of giving: grudge giving says, I have to; duty giving says, I ought to; thanksgiving says, I want to. The first comes from constraint; the second from a sense of obligation; the third from a full heart." Rev. Robert Rodenmayer

Sacrament of Baptism Parents who wish to have a child baptized should contact Rev. Steven Murray to make arrangements for the date and for a program of preparation. Parents are highly encour-aged to make arrangements at least three months before the child is born, as the Catholic Church encourages Baptism for infants as soon as possible after birth. Adults and older children (seven years or older) interested in Baptism or en-tering into full communion with the Catholic Church should inquire about the program of preparation (R.C.I.A.: the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

Sacrament of Matrimony A Catholic wishing to be married in one of our churches should contact one of the priests at least six months prior to the desired date in order to begin making arrangements. A program of preparation is required. The parish should be contacted before any other plans are made—for example, the wedding reception.

Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick For those preparing for surgery, nursing home residents, or the homebound, contact one of the parish priests to make arrangements to be anointed. For those in the hospital (especially in the event of an emergency), ask the hospital staff to contact the priest on call.
