Who are the children with special needs?

What is ADD/ADHD?

What is Autism and Asperger's Disorder?

Children with Learning disabilities, Attention deficit

disorder (ADD), Attention deficit. Hyperactive

disorder(ADHD), Autism, Asperger's and minor

neurological dysfunction.

What does having a learning disability (LD) mean?

Children with Learning disability may have average to high

IQ levels that nevertheless perform poorly in academics.

This is a hidden difficulty which impairs their reading,

writing, math and comprehension skills. This is also known

as processing disorder due to mild neurological problems.

These children demonstrate an obvious gap between their

aptitude and performance.

ADD/ADHD is a neurological disorder. The major

symptoms of the disorder are Distractibility,

forgetfulness, inability to concentrate, poor attention

span and impulsiveness. The difference between the two

disorders is ADD is Inattentive and easily distractible and

ADHD is ADD with Hyperactivity. The presence of these

symptoms hinders the learning of the child.

Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically

appears during the first three years of life. It is a result of a

neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the

brain. Three distinctly affected areas are Impairment of

social interaction, Impairment of language and

communication, Impairment of flexibility of thought and

behaviour. A high functioning autism can be called as

Asperger's disorder.
