1. INTRODUCTION
Adopting villages means to identifying villages and communities in the locality
and to work along with the community people at the grass root level, while
enabling and empowering them so ultimately to become self sustaining
community. The main activities are to collaborate and participate with all sister
institutes, Government and Non Government Organizations, enable the faculty
members from all the Colleges like College of Social Science and Humanities
(MSW), College of Management and Social Science BCA/ B Com/ BBA
(Honours and Aviation) MBA and College of Information and Technology (MCA)
along with Students Social Workers, Students of NSS units and the Red cross cell
to do research and to strengthen the participation, linking the Government benefits
etc. The village adoption provides an opportunity to academicians, students,
policy makers and civil society, to get sensitised and understand the social
problems which affect most to the disadvantage section of the society. The
intervention service will assist in facilitating and catalysing the cohesive
community through inspiring, igniting, motivating, education and enabling the
people to develop by utilising the opportunities. It is very hard to develop more
than six lakh villages in India. Hence we need to strengthen five villages in the
neighbourhood to adopt and to move towards the model villages.

NEED
There are huge disparities and developmental disconnects between the poor and
rich people both in rural and urban area. There is inequality in health, education,
income, distribution of government facilities, basic amenities, employment,
seasonal employment and less money transaction causes for increasing the gap.
People start migrates from rural area to urban area for better prospects in life.
Their movement in large number to urban area will develop problems like stress,
effect on health, shortage of houses, sanitation, ventilation, drainage, pure
drinking water etc. The intervention programme of higher educational institutes
will cater to the some needs of the people of rural area, having few objectives may
slightly contribute to the development of the adopted area and sector groups. The
knowledge and the resources available in the institute will definitely play a role in
transforming the masses.
