It started last year with a surge in sales at mixed-use development Emporio in Maroochy- dore. Now it has seen the construction timeline for the Moko mixed-use development at Birtinya being brought forward. The $19.5m Moko project includes 55 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, townhous- es and trendy lofts, a convenience super- market, waterfront restaurant and specialty shops. Moko spokesman Greg Tuckwell said follow- ing strong sales results late last year, the con- struction timeline was moved forward to mid-2014 and he expected the completion date to be about mid-to-late 2015. One of Australia’s most successful privately owned construction companies has been chosen to construct Moko. Mr Tuckwell said he was delighted to have such a high-profile and successful building company construct the Moko project. “Hutchinsons have over 100 years expe- rience developing projects throughout Australia so we have great confidence that they can deliver the project on time and within budget,” he said. Hutchinson Builders area manager Michael Michell said he was pleased to have won the tender and excited to be able to construct such an innovative mixed-use development. “We are really excited by the opportunity to build the Moko development. We have great experience with similar projects here on the Coast, including Sea Pearl at Mooloolaba and White Shells Apartments in Marcoola. “The design of the Moko project is excellent and, from an investment point of view, it repre- sents a tremendous opportunity because of its great north-facing waterfront location as well as its close proximity to employment, entertain- ment and recreational hubs around Birtinya and Kawana,” Mr Michell said. It’s a similar story for Nova, at Mool- oolaba Beach, with the boutique apart- ment development seeing 20 of its 47 residences under contract within four weeks of release. Developer Walter Iezzi said the key influenc- es driving quick decision making included the central location and affordability. “Investors have been waiting for a develop- ment such as Nova,” Mr Iezzi said. “The positive response we are receiving from the market is extremely reassuring. “The solid inquiry continued over the long into a boutique eight-level building by Sunshine Coast developer John Starrett, from Dinstarr Project Management.
