It’s true, we didn’t have much of a winter. (Not that anyone’s complaining.) Butthat doesn’t mean we can’t get all giddy and festive — and maybe even fool-ishly underdressed — over the arrival of spring. This is the time of year when

we stand outside and shake our heads in wonder as the breeze whips by. Andthe trees start to show little hints of color at the tips of their branches. It’s awe-some. The joy of spring is a basic bodily reality — you feel the surge of energy inyour bones and on your skin. For some, mid-March calls for a zingy bloodymary. It’s hard to be cynical about it (that whole “April is the cruelest month”thing notwithstanding). Here are some cherry-picked activities and events tohelp kickstart your enjoyment of the season.

The Rites of Spring! Open your wallet or purse, grab a cardwith bumpy numbers on it and find a

Wi-Fi connection, or pick up a phone, ifyou’d rather: there are dozens of top-notchhip-hop, indie rock, metal, R&B and jam-band acts passing through the state thisspring. It’s a little tough to comb through allthe various offerings, so we offer a fewguideposts.
