Tips Continued:

To support your student:• Listen carefully - give them some space and don’t be surprised at a little volatility• Be sensitive to their current situation – pay close attention to their feelings• Don’t be shy about telling your student how proud you are of their accomplishments • Remind them of your confidence in their abilities -– whether their next steps are clear or uncertain,

knowing that you stand beside them is a huge comfort during this time of transition

Book your hotel right away ( https://www.csum.edu/web/tsgb-cruise/accomodations)

Make dinner reservations early

Whether you plan to celebrate your student’s accomplishment with lunch or dinner, before or after the ceremony, make reservations as far in advance as possible. Here is the list of activities on campus and expected length of the ceremony on May 4th. 5/3/19: 1600 -1730 School Receptions & 1730 - 1800 Senior Award Ceremony5/4/19: 1000 Commissioning Ceremony & 1330 - 1530 Commencement CeremonyWhen making that reservation, please allow plenty of buffer time. Your student will want to congratulate fellow graduates, say goodbye to favorite professors, and pose for the paparazzi (plus think of all the foot and car traffic after the ceremony!).Restaurant recommendations: The Front Room at The Wharf; Mare Island Brewing Co. - Ferry Taproom; ; Zio Fraedo's of Vallejo; Gracie's Family BBQ; Urban Counter; Matsuri - Vallejo; Napoli Pizzeria & Italian Food
