ACCESS AND FEES

STUDENT RECREATION BOARDEach academic year, 17 students are appointed by college deans to be representatives on the Student Recreation Board. The board is responsible for issues involving fees and university-wide recreation access policies. For more information, contact Director John Doman at 215-204-0595 or [email protected].

ACCESS FEESRecreation may be acquired by paying the Campus Rec access fee. Fees were established by the Student Recreation Board to support our student recre-ational facilities, including the Independence Blue Cross Student Recreation Center, Pearson and McGonigle Halls (3rd Floor Rec Courts and Pools 30 and 31), Aramark Student Training and Recreational Complex (Climbing Wall and Weight Room), Temple University Fitness and recreational opportunities at the TASB, Ambler and Health Sciences campuses.

STUDENTS

All Temple University students will be automati-cally assessed a portion of the Campus Rec access fee. For additional information about the fee assess-ment policy, please contact the Campus Recreation Main Office at 215-204-1267.

EMPLOYEES

All university and hospital employees with a valid OWLcard are eligible to purchase access to the recre-ational facilities. There are two payment options: payroll deduction or manual payment by term.

Full-time regular employees have the option to have the Campus Rec access fee deducted from their paychecks. A total deduction of $10 will be with-drawn from the employee’s paycheck each month. Employees interested in paying their Campus Rec access fee through payroll deduction may do so in the Campus Recreation Main Office. Payroll deduc-tion is an ongoing membership that renews every September 1. Employees must cancel their memberships in person at the Campus Recreation Main Office or by requesting our cancellation form by emailing [email protected] in order to stop the deductions. For additional information on payroll deduction, please contact Campus Recreation at 215-204-1267.

Employees who do not wish to pay via deduction or are ineligible for payroll deduction may pay the Campus Rec access fee at the Main Office. Fees for employees are $55 per term (spring or fall), $30 per summer I and II, or $120 annually (valid August 26, 2019 through August 7, 2020). Upon payment, employees will fill out a Patron Application for access to the facilities and OWLcard swipe activa-tion. The OWLcard activation process takes approx-imately two business days; however, users may present their Campus Rec access receipt at the recreational facility for immediate access.

ALUMNI

Temple Alumni (defined as graduates of Temple University) may purchase alumni access to the recreational facilities for self-directed informal recre-ation participation. To purchase Campus Rec alumni access, alumni MUST go to the Campus Recreation Main Office and present the new Temple University Alumni Association ID Card to verify alumni status. New Temple University Alumni Association Cards now feature alumni picture, ID number, and swipe access. It must be obtained from the Office of Alumni Relations, Suite 100, Sullivan Hall prior to purchasing alumni membership. Payment

is made via cash or check/money order (no credit cards). Upon payment, swipe access for recreational facilities is assigned directly to the Alumni Association Card. Cardholders have access to recre-ational facilities on Main Campus, HSC, and Ambler. Structured programs (i.e. intramurals, sport clubs, and group fitness) and guest pass privileges are not available to alumni.

NOTE: Insufficient funds on checks will incur a $25 penalty.

NIRSA HEALTH & WELLNESS PASSPORT PROGRAMThe Health & Wellness Passport program, presented by Matrix, allows visiting faculty and staff of participating NIRSA member institutions to use the recreational facilities at Temple University at no cost. For additional information, call the Campus Recreation Main Office at 215-204-1267.

Employees with recreation access through payroll deduction must cancel their payroll deduction payments if they are taking a class and thus paying the inclusive university fee. Reimbursement for duplicate or overlap payments will not be processed, as the tuition remission for classes is an employee benefit. It is beneficial for the employee to coordinate this cancellation, as a three-credit course assesses $14 to the rec fee for the typical semester. It is incumbent upon the employee to manage the timing for the process.

Sports are specified as men’s, women’s, or co-recreational (men/women) and are offered in either tournament or league format. Interested individuals and teams must register at imleagues.com/temple by the entry deadlines and abide by the policies in the Intramural Handbook. Contact Intramural Coordinator Ray DeStephanis at 215-204-6919 or [email protected].
