The Friends & Family test
will continue throughout
the year so if you would
like to take part please fill
in a form from reception
before you leave.
The days are getting
longer and it’s almost time
to say goodbye to the
winter blues. But before
we look forward let’s just
take a quick glance back!
The winter months have
seen some changes at
Barbourne Health Centre.
We have been successfully
running The Friends &
Family Test, a government
initiative to gain feedback
from patients on their
experience at their GP.
On visiting the surgery
patients have been asked
to rate the likelihood of
recommending the surgery
to friends and family using
a scale of 1-5 (1 being
‘extremely likely’ and 5
being ‘extremely unlikely’).
We are very pleased to
announce that we have
achieved wonderful
feedback from patients,
with the overwhelming
majority stating they would
be extremely likely to
recommend us to friends
and family.
We wish to thank all our
patients for the feedback.

We are pleased to announce that our text messaging service, MJOG, has had a successful first few months. Launched in November 2014, the service offers patients text message communication from the surgery direct to their mobile phones. We have also been able to communicate key messages to our patients via this service. “The feedback from our patients has been over-whelmingly positive,” says Dr Charles Harris.
“It has proven a quick and easy way to let people know about important changes to the surgery and acts as a reminder for appointments, having reduced the amount of missed appointments.” “At a time when we need to think about costs in the NHS this service offers real value for money for our patients.” Texting mobiles using MJOG is free as opposed to the every increasing cost of post-ing letters, not to mention the environmental benefits.
Dr Harris says: “Importantly this frees up money that we can spend on additional clinical staff and providing more appointments, meaning better patient care all round”

Going On Holiday This Year?
Remember to book your vaccinations in good time. Speak to a member of staff at least 8 weeks before you plan to travel to find out which vaccinations you will require. You will also need to make sure your ex-isting vaccinations for the UK are up to date, such as polio and tetanus. If they are not you will need booster jabs. And don’t forget to protect yourself from malaria.
