FROM CRACK TO CHRISTMy name is Calvin. For the last twenty years I have allowed for crack cocaine, mari-juana, alcohol, PCP, acid, Hash oil, and Heroin to abuse me. Ironically, I never thought
that I had a drug probleq but realistically I was in denial that my habit was that bad.
- - hen I realized that I needed help was on my 44th Birthday. I sat in a crack house with a cupcake
.--- ore hand and a chore and a dime of crack in the other. Looking at my lile on my birthday, Iknew that my life could not continue in this manner. I called my wife after being on the streetsfor weeks and told her that I was ready to change and needed help. I was referred to Gospel Res-
cue Ministries bya
member of the church and I immediately got into the program.
God saved me through coming to Gospel Rescue
Ministries by giving me the tools that I needed to
re-engage myself with my family, friends and soci-
ety as a whole. I have now returned to working forthe United States Post Office. While I understand
that this choice is short term, my long term goal is
to go back to college and become a Certified Addic-
tions Counselor so thatI
may help those in over-
come their addictions through the works of God.
I truly thank everyone that supports the work of GRM
because I can truly say that my life has changed for the' tter and it will never be the same again.
