Last Thursday, our Grades 3 to 6 students participated in the East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Cross Country at Victoria Park Lake. Traditionally, it is held at Princess Park, however, this year I suggested we move it to the Lake. This decision proved to be very successful with lots of positive comments and a far better venue from a spectators point of view. The following students finished in the top 10 of their age group and have qualified for the Goulburn Murray Division Cross Country to be held Friday.

This is the second year in a row that Edie has won this event for her age group. An amazing

effort!

Congratulations to all of you and we wish you all the best for the next level of competition. Well done to all of our students who tried their best, completed the course and were great

ambassadors for our school.

I would like to thank our helpers who were marshals on the day: Anita Clark,

Sara Cuthbert, Patsi Makaronis, Jo Stonehouse, Heather Adderly & Kaye Luscombe. I would also like to acknowledge our staff for their efforts that often go unnoticed: Miss Baker, Mrs O & Mrs O’Donnell for supervising at the cross country, Mrs Gamble for looking after our F/1/2 students back at school and Mrs Irwin for keeping things

running. Also to Mr McCully for getting us to and from this event. Finally, all the parents who came down and supported our school, it was fantastic! There are a number of cases of headlice being reported. I cannot stress enough that all families are responsible for checking their child’s hair vigilantly especially during this peak out break. It only takes missing one egg and the cycle starts again. Students can attend school after being treated as long as there are no live louse. As a school community we need to be

attentive in addressing this issue. The Department of Education and Training

recently put out a warning about an out break of measles. It didn’t specify what areas of the state are affected but just a general notification. Our hard working Parents’ Club made over $500 for their “Time Out for The Girls” Community Market. Well done team! Congratulations to Mr Z & Courtney of the safe arrival of Rosie Elizabeth on Tuesday 2nd May. Oscar and Clementine are very proud of their little sister! Debbie Humphries

What a perfect time to have our school looking it’s best for our

Open Day sessions & Education Week celebrations.

This is a great time for our new families to meet our school community.

There is a list of jobs that need to be done. You will need to bring your own

garden tools, snacks and drinks. Also, if you have a trailer or a ute to help

get rid of the rubbish. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

CLASSROOM WRAP F/1 Gamble

In Science, we are looking for changes in substances.

This week we observed cooked spaghetti and described its feel and texture e.g.

stretchy, bendy, soft, smelt nice etc.

2/3 Baker

Grade 3 will be doing NAPLAN this week. We are finishing off Narrative

writing by creating and publishing on the iPads.

We are looking at subtraction in Maths.

4/5/6 Zito Mr Z’s class have adjusted to him being away and having Miss H & Mrs O’Donnell. In writing, we have been writing Narrative and Persuasive text types. Literature Circles roles is what we have been applying to our various reading texts. Mrs O’Donnell has been doing our SMART Spelling program looking at ‘ology’ - meaning the study of. Division has been the topic of the week for Maths.

Design & Technologies - Miss H & Mrs O It has been a busy time in our sessions working on our Mother’s Day activities. Each gift is unique and has been made with lots of love! We hope you like it!

All students need to bring a sturdy bag to take home their Mother’s day gift as they breakable. A plastic bag will not be strong enough.

To all our Mum’s and special people we wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day and we hope you have a great day!

Swimming Program ~ Mon 15th to Fri 19th May Our annual swimming program at Aquamoves is next week. Lunch will be from 11.00am to 11.45am during this week and there will be no hot lunches. Please ensure your child’s items are clearly names, especially googles and that they have the swimming gear each day. If your child has a skin allergy and requires a shower please send a note to school.

We will be leaving K.C.P.S. at 1.00pm, in the pool from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and then be back at school by 3.15pm.

Parents are welcome to come down to the pool!

K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2017 Talking Footy with Magpic Magpie

Round 7 Wrap

It was a tough round of footy tipping this weekend with the top 5 teams all getting beaten. This made it extremely frustrating for the football enthusiast who struggled to pick a winner, with most only picking 3.

On Friday night the Saints and the Suns played at Eithad. The Saints ended up winners by 23 points.

On Saturday afternoon the Kangas smashed ladder leaders the Crows by 59 points at Blundstone Arena. The Blues had win over the lack lust Magpies by 23 points much to Magic Magpies disgust! The Eagles couldn’t match the Power at Adelaide Oval who ran away winners by 10 points. The Suns caught the Cats snoozing at the final siren beating them by 25 points at Metricon Oval.

On Saturday night it was a nail biter between the Bulldogs and the Tigers. A controversial deliberate out of bounds free kick was paid to the Bulldogs in the Tiger’s forward half in the last minute of the game. This decision sealed the game for the Doggies who won by 5 points.

On Sunday the Swans gave Brisbane a footy lesson beating them by 54 points at the SGC. Wizard’s Demons fell short again this week allowing the poor performing Hawks to get up by 3 points at the “G”. The Dockers are sitting just outside the 8 after a 37 point win over the Bombers at home.

Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – for Round 7 were: Cody’s Kangas topped the tipping stakes this week with 7 - great tipping! Closely following were: Billy Bob, Cooper Laidlaw, Greymouse, Saint C and Toby the wonderdog who all tipped 6.

Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders – for Round 7 are: Bomber 10 and Fope’s Heroes on 39, Crazy TC’s, Magpic Magpies, Patsi M, Saint C, Specky Magee and Tiger Trouble on 38, Greyhouse, The Old Don and Toby the Wonderdog on 37.

Digger’s Rooboys needs to show more loyalty to the Kangaroos as he tipped the Crows this week! The rest of his family: Cody’s Kangas, Dylan’s Kangas and Roo Safari happily paraded their loyalty to their beloved Shin Boners. Tut, tut, tut Digger’s Rooboys!

Footy Tippers please make sure that you hand your tips in as we had 5 tippers not hand their footy tips in so they get the away teams.
