Principal’s report
Welcome back to a busy term!
Welcome to Term 4. I trust all of our families enjoyed a
lovely holiday and are ready and have re-charged their
batteries! Get set for an incredibly busy term full of
wonderful learning opportunities. Our Term 4 calendar
is attached – please keep this as a reminder of the
many events coming up.
Welcome 2017 Kinders!
Our 2017 Kindergarten students will commence their
transition program this week. On Friday we have a
special buddy session, where the children will get the
opportunity to meet their big Stage 3 buddies for next
year. Our buddy program is highly valued and greatly
loved by both the kinders and the big kids alike.
Stage 3 off to Canberra
In Week 3 the Stage 3 students will head off for a 2 day
excursion to Canberra. Here they will visit Questacon,
the Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House and
the Electoral Education office – just to name a few
places on the itinerary. Parents of Stage 3 children are
reminded that medical notes and final payments must
be in by this Friday to ensure all organisation can be
finalised.
Dance Spectacular
Once again our much-loved Dance Spectacular is
being held! Last year, due to the unavailability of a
dance teacher, we were forced to forgo our program
and concert. This year will be an Olympic themed
spectacular involving every child. The concert will be
held on Thursday 3 November at the Junee High
School MPC, commencing at 7:00 pm. Stay tuned for
more details as the event nears closer. Make sure you
bring the family along – it will be spectacular!!
Junee Show
The annual Junee Show is being held next Saturday 22
October. This is a wonderful community event for all.
Once again our classes will showcase their art work in
the pavilion – make sure you pop in and take a look.
Stage 2 Swimming Scheme
Our Stage 2 students will once again participate in our
10-day swimming program. All students are expected
to participate with all levels of ability catered for. The
school is heavily subsidizing this program to ensure
water safety and confidence for all Stage 2 students.
University NSW English Competition
Congratulations to all of our students who participated
in the University of NSW English competition. Special
mention to Hailea Baker –Shephard (Merit Award);
Aimee White, Will Holloway & Brandon Collins (Credit
Awards) and Eleanor Baldock & Tahlia White
(Distinction Awards).
1/2W Movie Stars!
Well done to 1/2W who has made it through to the
finals of the Goethe-Institut School Film Festival. Their
wonderful movie was screened last term to a captive
audience of students, parents and staff. The film will be
shown in Sydney on Thursday 20 October. A huge
thank you to Lindsie Newham and Alexandra
Schachtner who made this film possible. What a
wonderful achievement for you all! Good luck!

Sports news
Riverina Athletics
Congratulations to Jaxson Allen, Kye Wright, Bayley
Guinan and Cooper Wright who all put in a wonderful
effort at last term’s Riverina Athletics Carnival. Bayley
came away with a commendable 6th
place in shot put;
Kye has been named 1st reserve for the 100m. Cooper
attained 1st place in the 10 years high jump and Jaxson
placed 1st in the 100 m and second in the 200 m. Both
Cooper and Jaxson will now head to Home Bush in
Sydney next week where they will represent the
Riverina at the State Carnival. Well done boys on a
fantastic effort!
Assemblies on Thursdays
We have decided to keep our assembly day on
Thursdays for the rest of this year. Our assembly day
was changed last term due to our dance instructor only
being available on Fridays. We have had to schedule in
2 more dance rehearsals – 1 this Friday and another
(hopefully!) next Friday 21st. Our Kids Matter
committee has also been working on plans for greater
opportunities for our students, and greater parental
participation, and has requested that Fridays be
available for future events. Fridays are our only day
free from interruptions / changes to classes so Fridays
allow us to be more flexible with our planning.
I understand that Thursday assemblies may not suit all
of our families and we do try to cater as best we can by
notifying of special awards and classes presenting at
assembly. Unfortunately there are times when we
cannot satisfy all. Any parents with concerns regarding
our assembly days are welcome to contact me.

Stage 2 Dubbo Excursion – amazing!
Last term our Year 3 and 4 students travelled to Dubbo
where they experienced a wonderful 2 days, the
highlight of which was camping at the zoo! No doubt
they will remember their excursion for many years to
come.

Paralympic Day
Well done to our Kids Matter committee – Miss
Walters, Mr Maxwell, Mrs Fitzgerald, Mrs Davis and Mrs
White on organising this fantastic day! The children
had an absolute ball designing their flags, costumes
and chants! They participated in everything from
wheelchair basketball, 3-legged races, seated volleyball
to blind-folded bowls! Huge thanks to Robin Asmus for
assisting with the provision of wheelchairs. The day
was not only fun, but provided our students with
opportunities to cooperate and problem-solve and
develop an appreciation for our paralympians.
