PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is a pleasure for me to introduce this "sponsorship

booklet" of the Association of Students of Health Sciences,

an organization that brings together students from health

sciences throughout Catalonia.

AECS is an association that already has 118 years history of

continuing the work started our precedents. Our mission is

to provide students with additional training without

forgetting fundamental issues as human rights, public

health or reproductive health, essential for full training. In

addition, as future health professionals, we believe we

have much to say and much to contribute to health

promotion in all spheres of our society.

That's why we encourage you to support us through any of

the options presented in this "booklet", making possible our

work and improving the training of professionals who work

one day for us all.

THE PURPOSE:

On the AECS is to provide an education in ethical values and healthy

community. So programmed activities for public awareness in areas of

health and prevention, and improving the training of future professionals

in the field of health and science that will be responsible in the future to

perform this task.

What’s l’AECS?

•L’Associació d’Estudiants de Ciències de la Salut (AECS), is an

association of University students social, scientific and cultural. An entity

service provider for Youth, apolitical, non-denominational and non-profit,

within the Academia de Ciències Mèdiques I de la Salut de Catalunya I de

Balears (ACMSCB) and the Andorran Society of Sciences (CAS). In 2009

AECS counted with the collaboration of 1500 members, distributed

throughout the Catalan territory.

Since the late nineteenth century AECS has worked continuously for and

with society. Through our activities we have little awareness by several

generations to understand that health is a fundamental and universal

value, and ensure that all work for her.

Our goals:

AECS is meant to serve the society and students of health sciences of the

whole Catalan, Balearic and Andorra through the following tasks:•

● Report the most prevalent diseases in our society.

● Provide the necessary tools for disease prevention and guidelines

for a healthy life.

● Awareness of global health problems

● Improve the training of future health professionals through

practical activities, courses and mobility programs.

● Encouraging students to enter the world of research as the basis

for the future.

● Awareness of the integration of sectors in our society at risk of

social exclusion: immigrants, the disabled, children, women, the

elderly ...

 

ROLE OF SPONSORS

The AECS wants to build a society more aware on the issues of concern to

global health. Through our network of partners to offer society, and more

specifically to students, the opportunity to experience an intercultural

learning, volunteer and community service.

Your financial support helps the development of activities, courses,

informative talks in schools and universities, international mobility

programs, public awareness programs, health workshops and many more

projects.

Giving support to our activities, and sponsoring meetings and publications

will do our possible that the structure of our association and our projects

take place. In addition, supporting our organization and activities

demonstrate your awareness of health in our society.

AECS works with other organizations like the League Against Cancer, AIDS

telephone, with the Catalan Transplant Organization (OCATT) and the

Catalan Institute of Health. We also find within the Acadèmia de Ciències

Mèdiques i de la Salut de Catalunya i de Balears, the Andorran Society of

Sciences and the International Federation of Medical Students

Associations (IFMSA) which is recognized by the World Health Organization

( WHO)

WEBSITE

AECS www.aecs.org website gives an overview of the history, structure,

activities and events taking place.

In addition, our website provides access to publications, archives and

news about our association. You can also find information on exchange

activities, announcements and registration for courses, workshops and

more.

More than 3000 students visit our website to find out what will take place

on its territory and thus participate in our association.

InfoAECS:

This is a publication of new creation where we explain all that has taken

place this year in our association. The magazine is published every

October and distributed to all association members and other students to

spread all the activities that have taken place. The magazine has

narrated memories of different projects, most original design, informal

and attractive to students.

This will be distributed in paper form and mail, so move around the

Catalan territory, Balearic and Andorra. You can be the first to sponsor

the reports and reach more students.

POSTERS

The posters of the various working groups and AECS activities are

distributed to all our faculties. Also distributed during our activities,

reaching students in the rest of society in health promotion projects.

World Days, weeks of workshops for health and leisure events are where

most of our values is dissemination.

 

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Our association meets twice a year, one in April and October. This year

will be organized in Girona and Reus. The General Assembly (GA) is a

forum for new ideas, initiating new members and extracurricular training

in areas of leadership, organization of time, teamwork and projects.

Through small working groups (small working groups) and training

(trainigs) allow students to acquire certain skills to develop our network

associative tasks.

An important part of these meetings are the papers so that students show

their projects as guests of the field of science that gives us an open vision

of how health care is the reality in Catalonia.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS

Our partnership is part and collaborates with other national and

international associations such as the Medical Student Council of

Catalonia (CEMCat), the Consejo Estatal de Estudiantes de Medicina

(CEEM), the Federation of Internationally Recognised Catalan

Organisations ( FOCIR), General Secretariat for Youth (Youth Hostel) and

the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA).

AECS is sending a delegation consisting of 2 to 12 of our members

representing Catalan students of AECS most important events in our

industry. It allows us to share new visions and incorporate new knowledge

as an engine of progress of our projects.

Countries around the world know our culture, our country and our

products and customs. For us it is an honor to have the opportunity to

showcase our country around the world

DISCUSSION AND PRACTICE

Our association organizes national and international practice as in

hospitals and research groups worldwide. More than 500 students enhance

their education through the AECS and our trading system. In the same

way, many students come to Catalonia to enjoy the same advantages that

our students, and have the opportunity to meet our country, our culture

and our health system research. Around 100 countries around the world

collaborate with us in this international program national.

You can help us to improve the training of hundreds of students each year,

and publicize your products to prospective physicians and employees of

the health field.

EXCHANGE FELLOWSHIPS

The scholarships are a form of exchanges in our exchange program where

we reward the most advantaged students with a scholarship to study for a

more in any country in the world with which we have agreement. Our

grants provide accommodation and subsistence as well as a small

monetary contribution complementary.

 

DAILY WORLD

Capitalizing on the specific schedule set by the World Health Organization

(HWO), AECS organizes activities to inform, educate and educate the

public about issues such as diabetes, AIDS, Alzheimer's, human rights or

cancer among others.

Through informative talks, film and debate sessions, workshops and

educational campaigns on the street, to get society to give them little

tips here and improve health.

Health Week

This project aims to promote all activities of the association in a week

through activities, workshops, forums and courses. In addition, it also

attempts to encourage healthy lifestyles and complement the training of

health science students.

 

THE WALK AGAINST CANCER

AECS has always been involved in education in community health issues.

The walk: a project in which we bring healthy lifestyles, such as daily

exercise and good nutrition to the population, while providing information

about the disease.

More than 2000 people participated in the walk last organized last year,

was attended by people of all ages who want to exercise and live a

healthy life.

Breath

With this project we contact with institutes Catalan towns and cities so

that students of health sciences to address the adolescent students of

secondary education in order to sensitize them on the issue of smoking.

The project objective is to train young teachers in each class to be

leaders who form themselves after their peers. For this peer-education,

obtained satisfactory results.

At the end of the project, organized a walk against tobacco with all

participants. Where people are encouraged to join the movement, making

shirts and distribute the symbolic act of breaking a cigarette

TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL (HOP, Hospital Ossets de Peluix)

The HOP is a project with which we are introduced to children from 5 to 8

years in a hospital environment, so that children can experience the

atmosphere from the health point of view they were the parents of teddy

bears and see that is what makes your teddy. Have the opportunity to ask

students questions about all the work of health professionals while

helping them try to lose the fear of white coats.

 

CONFERENCES

The AECS is committed to training our students, so we organize

conferences and workshops where they can improve their skills in

subjects as diverse as basic clinical skills, public health and research.

GEMMA ROSSELL ROMERO’s AWARDS

Each year the association awards to students who perform work during

this academic research in universities, laboratories and health centers

worldwide. The awards Gemma Rosell i Romero, conducted at the

University of Barcelona, is the opportunity to present research projects

that most interest to the scientific community, and a forum where they

incite students to improve their education and promote future research,

development and innovation (RDI) in terms of health.
