• Theoutsidesurfaceofthepipe,betweenthegrooveandthepipeend,mustbesmoothandfreefromindentations,projections(includingweldseams),androllmarkstoensurealeak-tightseal.Alloil,grease,loosepaint,dirt,andcuttingparticlesmustberemoved.

• VerifythatthepipeandgroovedimensionsarewithincurrentVictaulicspecifications.Measurementstakenacrossgroovedpipeendsmustnotexceedthemaximumallowableflarediameter.

• Lubricationofthegasketisrequiredtopreventthegasketfrompinchingortearingduringinstallation.Refertotheinstructionsonthefollowingpageforlubricantrequirements.

• Splitrepairgasketsthatare18-inch/457-mmandsmallerinsizeareaspecialanglecutanddonotrequirebonding.Refertotheinstructionsonthefollowingpage.

• Splitrepairgasketsthatare20-inch/508-mmandlargerinsizearesquarecutandmustbebondedwithalightcoatingofadhesive(notprovided).Refertothetablebelowandtheinstructionsonthefollowingpageforadhesiverequirements.NOTe: Only Grades “e”, “T”, “s”, and “l” can be bonded.

1.Wrapthesplitrepairgasketaroundthepipeendwiththesealinglipsfacingoutward,asshownabove.Makesurethegasketisnottwisted.

2.checkthesplicedsurfacestomakesuretheyaredryandfreeofanydebris.Brusheachendwithrubbingalcoholandallowtodrycompletely.

3. Refertothe“AdhesiveRequirements”tableonthepreviouspage.Applyprimer(ifapplicable)and/oradhesivetothesplicedend(s)ofthesplitrepairgasketinaccordancewiththeadhesivemanufacturer’sinstructions;theseinstructionsmustbereferencedforcompleteapplicationandcuringinformation.

4.immediatelybringthesplicedendstogetheraftertheadhesiveisapplied.Makesurethematinglipsarealigned.NOTe:Realignmentmaynotbepossibleaftercontactismadebetweenthetwosplicedends.

5.Allowthebondedareatodrycompletely,thenlightlybuffthebondedareausingafinegradesandpaper(100gritminimum).Becarefulnottogougethegasketsurface.

6.ApplyathincoatofVictaulicLubricanttothesealinglipsofthegasket,thenrollthegasketintopositionandcenteritbetweenthegrooveineachpipeend.Makesurenoportionofthegasketextendsintothegrooves.ApplyathincoatofVictaulicLubricanttotheexteriorofthegasket,asshownabove.
