Fly to Rome where your private driver will be waiting to transfer you to your 4 star hotel. With many local UK airports flying directly to Rome,you don’t need to travel to London if you are based outside.

Hotel Forum is perfectly located opposite the Old Forum and close to the Colosseum. This well-placed hotel has a rooftop breakfast, so youcan begin each day already immersed in Roman culture.

After breakfast your private guide will take you for a half day tour of ancient Rome.

Feel as if you have been taken back in time following in the footsteps of the gladiators in the Colosseum. Walk through the remains of theRoman Forum viewing what was once the centre of elections, criminal trials and public speeches.

Explore Augustus’s Arch, which spanned the road between the three main temples – Temple of Castor and Pollux, Caesar and Vesta.

The guide will take you onto the Trevi Fountain where you can throw a coin in. One coin means you will return to Rome, two find a new love,three marriage!

The tour continues onto The Spanish Steps, Via Condotti; the designer shopping street of Rome, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Pantheon. Besure to notice the “demon hole” in the centre of the Pantheon when the light shines through!

At this point your guide will leave you to your own devices for some time at leisure.

This evening your private driver will take you the short distance to Caracalla for your opera experience. Enjoy the performance with yourPoltronissime tickets, which are the very best seats. These surroundings will certainly take some beating!

Day at leisure to explore Rome at your own pace. A visit to the Capitoline Museums is very near to your hotel and provides an elaboratedisplay of Roman artifacts.

Alternatively, if you have never been to Vatican City before, we recommend adding in our Optional Extra Vatican Museums tour.

If however, this is not your first time to this ancient city, why not escape the crowds and head to Ostia Antica, the original harbour for Rome orVilla d’este, a garden paradise of fountains.

Rome - Papal Audience Visit

If you are in Rome on a Wednesday morning, why not have an audience with the pope. He is normally available (his schedule permitting) at10.30am and will be happy to bestow his blessing on you. In summer this blessing takes place in St Peter’s Square to accommodate themasses of devotees.

The pope will offer some readings and teachings in both Italian and English, before asking you to say the “Our Father” prayer collectively inLatin.

Rome - Private Guided Ostia Antica

Ostia Antica is one of the original port harbours in the world and served Rome in times of sea trade. Lying only twenty-four kilometres fromthe city, your private driver will take you to the site where your guide will explain the history to you. There are splendid cypress tress, fantasticfrescoes and you avoid the crowds of Rome. After the tour your private driver will transfer you back to your hotel.

Rome - Early Guided Access to the Vatican

Your private driver will transfer you the short distance to Vatican City. Here you have a beat the queues entrance where with your guide andsmall group, you have early access to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, before all the crowds arrive. This is essential as even early in themorning the crowds outside the Vatican are very long.

Marvel at the unique sculpture by Michelangelo and Bernin, the exquisite paintings by Raffaello Sanzio. Wander through the BelvedereCourt, The Tapestry Galleries and the frescoes in the Gallery of the Maps. Make sure you leave some time to enjoy the Egyptian Museum,which includes artefacts from the tombs of the pharoahs, mummified remains from the Egyptian dynasty. Lastly, explore the EtruscanMuseum.

The tour ends at the Sistine Chapel where you are free to wander and spend as long exploring the Vatican at your own pace. The tour lastsapproximately 1hr.

Only 30km from Rome is Villa d’Este. The villa and stunning water fountains were created by Cardinal Ippolito II d’Este in consolation forfailing to be made pope. Explore with your private guide all 120 fountains, along with Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este, now both UNESCO WorldHeritage sites.

The gardens are a display of fountains constructed on different levels. The villas are of a Renaissance design and inspired Franz Liszt tocompose Giochi d’Acqua. Villa Adriana was the holiday villa of Emperor Hadrian and has an eclectic blend of Greek, Persian and Egyptianarchitecture. Rome - Lights & Laser Show at Roman Forums

Head to the Imperial Forum, conveniently located opposite your hotel, for your Historical Lights and Laser Show. Be entertained by thehistory of Rome showcased by lasers against the backdrop of the Old Forum. The show lasts for around 45mins – 1hr before you are free towander back to your hotel.

Day 4Private Transfer to the airport for your flight home

At leisure until your private transfer to the airport for your flight home.

No tour of Rome is complete without a trip to the underground catacombs. Your private driver will take you to the  entrance of the catacombswhere you get to view the underground cemeteries, where Christian and Jews were buried. In the past it was usual for the families to gatherhere to say the funeral rites and to visit on set occasions. As overcrowding was a problem, many were buried here, dating back to before400AD.

This tour is best done either on arrival or departure from/to the airport.
