I have really been enjoying digging into the study we have been going over the past few weeks. It has been a study on ‘Old Questions; Older Answers.’ A study answering question about whether or not God exists. Can I trust the Bible? Is there only one way to God? And the last one will be dealing with--Why is there so much suffering and pain in this world?

In the first question dealing with whether or not God exist we looked over four arguments for the existence of God: 1) Cosmological. 2) Teleological. 3) Axiological. 4) Ontological. We didn’t get too deep into these subjects because we only have thirty minutes. But with each one we learned that God does exist even looking at Him from a scientific perspective. We discovered that the existence of God is not a theological debate. It’s not an argument of evidences. It is a truth that changes everything. So it came down to a question. Not whether or not you have accepted but do you believe?

The next question we looked at was whether or not we could trust the Bible. Some people argue that it’s too old. Others don’t believe it because they have experienced hypocritical Christians, judgmental preachers, or legalistic or fallen leaders and so it ruined their view of the Bible. About being too old; Jesus consistently treats OT record as fact. He validates the OT scriptures and He also claims that the words He has spoken is from God. We shared its indestructibility, science and prophecy; and historical accuracy through archaeology, scriptural consistency over 1500 years: three continents; three languages; sixty generations, forty different authors coming together with one unwavering theme---Jesus is Lord of all.

And then we talked about if Jesus is the only way to God. Many believe that Christianity is too intolerant, arrogant and exclusive. But they fail to admit that all religions have an exclusive claim on the truth. So logically speaking, they can all be wrong but they can’t all be right. And even though our Constitution protects equally all religions, they are not all equally valid. But back to the question: Christianity is not intolerant, arrogant or exclusive. Jesus invites everyone to call on His name to be saved. He shares that He is going to prepare a place for us and that He is the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but through Him. Think about it. Jesus even asked God if there was another way to save these people and if there is then let’s do that, please. But God said there is no other way. In a couple of weeks we will finish up with the question on why there is pain and suffering in this world. ~ Saved to Serve, Tim

In less than a week and a half, Believers around the world will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is an exciting day for us to celebrate the hope and resurrection we have in Christ. When Mary and Martha got upset with Jesus for not showing up to heal their brother and didn’t quite understand Jesus was about to bring Lazarus back to life before their eyes, Jesus told them this: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” Then he asked the two sisters this, “Do you believe this?”

Church, I know you believe this as well. We all anticipate going home to be with the Lord forever. That is why we gather as His church, to celebrate life here on earth and to celebrate the life we will be enjoying when Jesus returns for His bride. And while we wait for that awesome day, God has reminded us, His church, His bride; that we have been saved for works of service. And part of those works of service or good deeds is to make sure we give with a grateful heart to the cause of Christ. And part of that is taking care of what God has entrusted in our care.

This year we have shared with you our goal of raising enough funds to repave the north parking lot. I have been here for 26 years and that lot has not been given much attention. I am reading an incredible book by Andy Stanley called ‘Deep and Wide’. And in it he talks about how at North Point they created a church environment that attracted the unchurched and it simply started with some things most of us would consider ridiculous. It’s the same types of things that many of you tease me about when I get irritated as I walk through the building and see clutter, messy rooms and crooked chairs. I get that it sounds a little odd to be concerned about such things but it does send a message.

The environment that we set around here with the property that God has blessed us with sends a huge message to those visiting. If they see cluttered or messy rooms, torn up parking lots, dark hallways, old news on bulletin boards, un-shoveled walks, un-mowed grass, un-inviting worship area, no security for their children, or an unhealthy and unfriendly feel to a church then they come to these conclusions concerning our appreciation for the things that God has blessed us with and our desire for them to meet Christ:

We are not expecting guests. What we are doing here is not all that important. We expect somebody to clean up after us. We don’t take pride in our church or property.

I realize it sounds a bit harsh but that is the reality. Ask any visitor that hasn’t returned. For the most part I believe NLCC has done a beautiful job taking care of what God has blessed us with but we have room to grow and part of the growth is raising funds to take care of some big projects. We are hoping to reach a goal of $35k to repave the north lot and to replace all of our toilets. Yes, I said toilets. The only thing I will say about that project is if you’ve used one you know why. We the staff, spend some time each week plunging. I enjoy pushing people to do great things for kingdom work but really… :)

Come with a mind of generosity and heart to receive! And don’t forget to invite the unchurched or someone that has walked away from church.

COMING IN APRIL IN KIDZ KONNECTION: As followers of Christ, “I can trust God no matter what” is a phrase we all say. And for the most part we sincerely believe it and live it out. We trust God to provide for our basic needs, for our safety, even for our health and well-being. But there are certain moments when trusting God seems just a bit more difficult—often those are the times when we’re forced to wait.

Throughout our life, we will face times when we’re not where we once were, but we’re not yet at our final destination. Instead, we’re somewhere in between. Put simply: we’re waiting.

And it’s in the waiting that our faith is tested.

Which is why allowing God to develop patience in us is important. Not only is patience a Fruit of the Spirit, it is a foundational way that we can reflect God’s character. From the very beginning God has shown patience with people. When Adam and Eve broke God’s rule, He could have killed them on the spot. Rather, He showed them grace. Yes, there were consequences, but God had a plan for their rescue. All throughout the Bible we see God showing patience in order that more people could come to know and believe in Him.

God’s patience is continually focused on relationships with people. Even after we sinned, He still pursued us. He sent Jesus, His own Son to make a way for us to be with Him. He waited time after time for people to repent and make things right.

Something He still does today.

Dr. James Dobson's Marriage Devotion SHMILY By Laura Jeanna Allen

My grandparents were married for over half a century. From the time they met each other they played their own special game. The goal of their game was to write the word “shmily” in a surprise place for the other to find. They took turns leaving “shmily” around the house, and as soon as one of them discovered it, it was his or her turn to hide it once more. They dragged “shmily” with their fingers through the sugar and flour con-tainers to await whoever was preparing the next meal. They smeared it in the dew on the windows overlooking the patio where my grandma always fed us warm, homemade pudding with blue food color-ing. “Shmily” was written in the steam on the bathroom mirror, where it would reappear after every hot shower. At one point, my grandmother even unrolled an entire roll of toilet paper to leave “shmily” on the very last sheet. There was no end to the places “shmily” popped up. Little notes with a hastily scribbled “shmily” were found on dashboards and car seats or taped to steering wheels. The notes were stuffed inside shoes and left under pillows. “Shmily” was written in the dust upon the mantel and traced in the ashes of the fireplace. This mysterious word was as much a part of my grandparents’ house as the furniture.

It took me a long time before I fully appreciated my grandparents’ game. Skepticism has kept me from believing in true love—one that is pure and enduring. However, I never doubted my grandparents’ relationship. They had love down pat. It was more than their flirtatious little games; it was a way of life. Their relationship was based on a devotion and passionate affection that not everyone experiences.

Grandma and Grandpa held hands every chance they could. They stole kisses as they bumped into each other in their tiny kitchen. They fin-ished each other’s sentences and shared the daily crossword puzzle and word jumble. My grandma whispered to me about how cute my grand-pa was, how handsome an old man he had grown to be. She claimed that she really knew “how to pick ’em.” Before every meal they bowed their heads and gave thanks, marveling at their blessings: a wonderful family, good fortune, and each other.

But there was a dark cloud in my grandparents’ life: My grand-mother had breast cancer. The disease had first appeared ten years earlier. As always, Grandpa was with her every step of the way.

“Shmily.” It was scrawled in yellow on the pink ribbons of my grandmother’s funeral bouquet. As the crowd thinned and the last mourners turned to leave, my aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members came forward and gathered around Grandma one last time. Grandpa stepped up to my grandmother’s casket and, taking a shaky breath, began to sing to her. Through his tears and grief, the song came, a deep and throaty lullaby.

Shaking with my own sorrow, I will never forget that moment. For I knew that, although I couldn’t begin to fathom the depth of their love, I had been privileged to witness its unmatched beauty.

S-h-m-i-l-y: See How Much I Love You. Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa, for letting me see.

LOOKING AHEAD. . .

Is there any doubt that this tender couple knew the joy that springs from true love? That they understood the meaning of intimacy and commitment in marriage? Through a simple message sent in simple ways— traced in a flour container or on the bathroom mirror—this husband and wife continually expressed their love to each other for over fifty years. And when the time came for “Grandpa” to face the world alone, through his tears he sang his bride a lullaby that told her one last time, “See how much I love you!”

So many couples today reach the end of their days without ever experiencing such genuine love—the kind that includes stealing kisses, finishing each other’s sentences, and holding hands whenever possible. They sincerely desire a deep, intimate love, but they assume it will just “happen” somewhere along the way. When it doesn’t, disillusionment and even divorce follow.

When high school students were asked about their wishes for a better life, you might be surprised at what they said. A small number wished for more money and a bigger

house – not surprising since those things are terribly overvalued in our culture. But here’s the thing those

high schoolers wished for more than anything else: “More time spent with my family.” Guess what? You can make that wish come true.

NRB Award for Nye/Ham Debate:

Each Year, the National Religious Broadcasters association presents a variety of awards to mem-bers for outstanding achievements in television, radio, Internet, and more. Because there are nearly 1,500 member organizations, it is a true honor to be voted as the leader in any area. Over the years Answers in Genesis has been privileged to have won prestigious NRB awards.

This year, AiG was chosen to receive the award for “Best Multichannel Initiative” in the Internet category. The award, presented for AiG’s efforts related to the famous February 2014 evolution/creation debate between Bill Nye (TV’s “The Science Guy”) and Ken Ham, recognized excellence in “engaging people through the use of multichannel initiatives.” This included Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, websites, television, and other media to promote and broadcast the well-watched event.

The Nye/Ham debate took place before a capacity crowd of both Christians and non-Christians in the Creation Museum’s 1,000 seat Legacy Hall. It was also streamed live via the web and in follow-up viewings to an estimated 15 million people. Meanwhile, social media was buzzing with blogs, tweets, Fa-cebook posts, videos, etc., all centering on this “debate of the century.”

May God be glorified by our efforts to reach our unbelieving world with the gospel.

Sports Physicals in April

The JGSC will be offering Sports Physicals again this year for students in grades 4 through 11. Dr. Heckman-Davis and Dr. Martinez will be performing these exams for $20.00 for any student who will be participating in the athletics for the school year 2015-2016.

There are 3 clinics being offered:

1. April 7th (Tues) at NLES from 12:30 –2:30 pm

2. April 14th (Tues) at UMS from 12:30 –2:30 pm

3. April 21st (Tues) at JGHS from 2:00-4:00 pm

Students from WES will be transported to the clinic at NLES on April 7th.

Sports Physical forms can be picked up in each school office after March 13th. ALL students need to have permission slips signed, sports physical forms filled out, and all forms turned in with payment by the Monday BEFORE the clinic your student(s) is attending!!
