Caring for challenging patientsThe HumiCare D900 maintains an optimal level of mucociliary clearance. This is essential for children and especially for newborns and premature babies, so it can be used together with an incubator to deliver the required humidification. The HumiCare D900 can be used very effectively on:

• Newborn infants

• Premature babies

• Special applications such as therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV) or burn injuries.

A comprehensive solution for better care Humidification is a high priority as there is clear scientific evidence of its beneficial impact on

clinical outcomes for ventilated patients1. Active heated humidification reduces the risk of airway

clogging due to thickened secretions, which may lead to the collapse or closure of alveoli. This

can result in side effects such as ventilator-associated pneumonia2.

By replicating the natural conditioning of air, the HumiCare D900 has been designed to provide

the right level of humidification at the right temperature, while minimising the risk of rain-out.

This sophisticated active heated humidifier ensures that clinicians and carers can be confident

that high-level care and comfort is provided to the patient.

The secret lies in the HumiCare D900’s unique CounterStream technology combined with user

friendly patient circuits that sense the temperature at the patient interface. This conditions

the air, just like the upper airway would.

Easy to set-up and simple to useDesigned with the needs of patients and clinicians in mind, the HumiCare D900 features an intuitive graphical interface that makes operation easy for healthcare professionals, carers and patients.

• Easy set-up and operation with a large, bright LCD display

• Condensation and rain-out is minimised due to heated circuits

• Alarms for the peace of mind of patient and carer

• Start-up at default values or individual settings

• Adjustable chamber illumination

• Helpful quick shortcuts for main settings

• USB connection for easy data transfer

High performance 30-day chamber

CounterStream technology enables humidification at the right temperature. The large surface area avoids the need for excessive water temperatures as flow rates vary (for example in NIV leak mode) or as ambient temperature changes. This ensures that each patient receives the right level of humidity under varying conditions.

Short-term use with a 7-day chamberFor hospital care settings that have short-stay patients, the same HumiCare D900 heater base also supports a standard 7-day pass-over chamber.

Sophisticated solutions lowering the cost of careThe disposable patient circuits (and valve if required) only need to be replaced every 30 days. This reduces routine support time for carers, homecare providers, and long-term ventilated patients.

For healthcare professionals, this means less frequent interruptions are required to change the patient’s ventilation circuit. This saves time and minimises disruptions to the patient’s care.

The HumiCare D900 provides sophisticated humidification at a lower cost of care.

ResMed respiratory care solutionsThe HumiCare D900 is compatible with ResMed’s range of ventilators

Consistent humidification in changing ambient conditionsA change in room temperature creates issues for patients on humidification, including the risk of condensation and rain-out in patient circuits. By actively monitoring the temperature at the chamber and patient interface, the HumiCare D900 reduces temperature mismatch in the patient circuit. This allows your patient to be comfortable and well treated, regardless of the changing ambient conditions.

Consistent humidification with high flow ratesThe HumiCare D900 maintains consistent humidification even under conditions of unintentional leak and high flow rates. Due to its CounterStream technology and large exchange surface area, it operates independently of high flow to deliver target humidification without having to heat water well above body temperature. This avoids the risk of thermal injury.

Caring for challenging patientsThe HumiCare D900 emulates the upper airway to condition the air. This prevents therapy dry-out during the course of ventilation for some of the most challenging patient groups including neonates. It provides better secretion management and improved mucociliary clearance, resulting in better patient management, less disruptions to therapy, and less need for interventions by healthcare professionals, providers and carers.

Well-suited for paediatric useActive humidification is important in paediatric patients and neonates as their trachea and bronchioli have very small diameters and are prone to occlusion by mucosa. The HumiCare system has up to 60% less ‘deadspace’ and impedance than HMEs

3. Therefore it is suitable for children under 24 months, as deadspace is a critical factor in their therapy effectiveness when it comes to CO2 wash-out

4.

Key benefits of the HumiCare D900

• Ensures consistent humidification even under changing ambient conditions or high flow rates

• Maintains uncompromised ventilation therapy

• Provides high-level care for challenging patients

• Suitable for adult and paediatric use

• Easy to use, lightweight, and compact

• Reduced risk of rain-out

Ventilation and humidification work hand in hand as a system to deliver optimal patient therapy.
