Dear Reader,

There is an Arab saying, “Don't inquire about a market you are going to ahead

of time, because your inquiries will be better answered when you get there”.

Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. We live in an ever evolving world,

where the dynamics and the rules of the game are never the same. Information

is essential and those who are well informed in advance gain an extra edge in

the contemporary competitive market. In the workshop “Doing Business in

the Arab World”, we aspire to provide some of the answers to inquiries you

may have with regards to conducting business in the Arab world and related

customs, practices and culture. We will also touch upon the other ingredients

for successful and sustainable business activities in the Arab market, which

are, apart from reasonable pricing, positive attitude, openness and strong

belief in the quality of your products.

In less than two months, the Arab Hellenic Chamber is organizing in Athens

the "2nd Iraqi-European Business and Investment Forum". This is yet

another great business opportunity, not only for our members, but for all the

Greek business community. Iraq has the second largest oil reserve in the world

and has an unlimited market potential. All indicators and readings point to the

fact that Iraq is heading towards a period of security and stability. It is in their

short term plan, to put all their efforts into modernization of its infrastructure

and rebuilding of all the sectors of their country’s industry.

The absence of a regular air traffic line between Baghdad and Athens is

definitely an obstacle in development of business partnerships and hinders

efforts made by both sides as far as commercial endeavors are concerned.

We call upon the airline companies of both countries to consider resuming

flights between the two capitals. The airline that will take the initiative first,

will not only have the monopoly, but will also reap most of the benefits of

this enterprise.

The next issue of our Newsletter will be a Special Edition, on the occasion of

our "2nd Iraqi-European Business and Investment Forum". Those interested

in a Special Insertion or Premium File, please contact us promptly, as the space

is limited.

IFESTOS Aluminum Accessories, one of the very first companies in the aluminum field in Greece, was founded in 1968 in Thessaloniki.Throughout its almost fifty years of course, IFESTOS has established and maintained a reputation for being an expert in producing standard aluminum accessories products (e.g. hinges for opening frames, mechanical locks for sliding frames, aluminum balusters, exceptionally refined handles, insect screens and much more) as well as designing and delivering custom made aluminum solutions for all of its clients around the globe. The company’s privately owned installations in Thessaloniki, currently exceed 5,000 sq.m and include amongst others five entirely automatic die casting machines, a top of the line, eight- robot electrostatic powder coating unit, a complete machine shop and for the first time in the aluminum field in Greece, a product test chamber, built upon the latest EN European standards for product evaluation that is assured through the UKAS ISO 9001:2008 certification. The expansion of IFESTOS’ sales network combined with the flexible and constantly optimized production cycles, have led to the addition as an internal section to the company’s infrastructure of the RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT (R & D) department. At its present form and combined with conspicuous investments in the company’s production lines, the R&D department, constitutes a key part of the entire production process, being responsible for the initial feasibility study, the development of a methodology based on the company’s internal structure as well as selecting the appropriate optimization techniques during the design or rapid prototyping phases. This way, even the most difficult custom needs can be met in a fast, cost-effective manner.Just as we entered the new millennium, IFESTOS export department begun operating at substantially higher rates reaching the fifty percent export mark during early 2006 supplying countries like Bulgaria, Albania, Cosovo, Montenegro, Skopje, Romania, Africa and even Japan. All of this has underlined the need for a facility expansion abroad, so in early 2009, IFESTOS inaugurated its brand new plant in Petrich, Bulgaria a move that allowed the company to optimize its services to its loyal customers in the Balkans, as well as in third countries.

Paprika enriches product range with olive oil, olives and honey

MEMBERS’ NEWS

Paprika is a small/medium trading company at fruits, vegetables, olive oil and honey wholesale business. We operate for more than twenty years at Volos, Magnesia and apart the wholesale warehouses we own a retail shop at Volos city center. Our team, at any level is dedicated to business goals and we always work with a view to open new business opportunities.

We have been listening to our customers for years talking about the superior quality of Pelion mountain olive oil. Today, we are proud to say that we will soon be able to add olive oil, olives and honey to our product range. This is the result of our extensive research, discussion and selection of producers that fulfill modern cultivation standards. Still, one must bear in mind that the particular taste of Pelion olive and honey products is derived due to small, family owned agricultural business that still pick up and select the olives by hand and they follow closely all the production process.

the productsExtra Virgin Oil from Pelion MountainSuperior category olive oil obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means in order to preserve the flavor and aroma thus keeping all the natural ingredients unaltered. The olives are cold pressed, meaning no heat or chemicals are used to extract the final product. Paprika olive oil is produced from olive trees specially selected to ensure that the oil produced has the highest possible concentrations of the oil’s natural ingredients. Its distinct, rich and fruity flavor makes it ideal to be used for marinades, salad dressings, baking and shallow frying. Since it has more monounsaturated fat than other oils, it is a great choice for heart-healthy cooking.Pelion Fir HoneyIt is collected at the fir forests of Pelion Mountain at an

altitude grading from 800m to 1100m from early June until late July. The honey of the fir tree is the sugary secretion of needle-like leaves of the tree and it is produced in the summer. It is usually dark, reddish or slightly lighter depending on the source, it is thick with a strong woody aromatic flavor and it is rich in minerals and trace elements

Fir Honey is a rare product. Its impressive color, texture and aroma make it a unique product. It presents a natural ability not to crystallize and thus it satisfies the most demanding consumers.

Abb delivers substation to enable power flow from solar park in DubaiABB collaborates with DEWA to integrate solar energy

and support UAE’s clean energy ambition

MEMBERS’ NEWS

Zurich, Switzerland, February14, 2017 –ABB has successfully energized a major substation that will help evacuate power from the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) Solar Park, a key element of the vision to generate7 percent of Dubai’s power from clean energy sources by 2020; 25 percent by 2030, and 75 percent by 2050. The 400/132 kilovolt (kV) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation has been built for Dubai Electrici-ty & Water Authority (DEWA), the UAE’s leading power utility, to connect the second phase of the MBR Solar Park and integrate 200 megawatts(MW) of electricity to the transmission grid. The utility scale solar photovoltaic plant, which covers 4.5 square kilometers, will produce enough electrici-ty to serve more than 130,000 people. Its addition to the UAE network displaces the need for power from fossil fuels that would have produced about 250,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.Further expansions are planned and the Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park, when completed by 2030,will be spread across a 70 square kilometer area, making it the larg-est single-site solar project in the world with a capacity of

5,000 MW -enough to serve 800,000 homes and help mitigate the impact of around 6.5 million tons of carbon dioxide per year. This development supports the UAE’s goal to be a global center of clean energy and a green economy by 2050.ABB was responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the sub-station. Key product supplies include 11 bays of 400 kV and 21 bays of compact 132 kV Gas In-sulated Switchgear (GIS), power transformer sand IEC 61850-based open architecture automation and control systems.

ABB (ABBN: SIXSwiss Ex) is a pioneering technol-ogy leader in electrification products, robotics and motion, indus-trial automation and power grids, serving customers in utilities, industry and transport & infrastructure globally. Continuing more than a 125-year history of innovation, ABB today is writing the future of industrial digitalization and driving the Energy and Fourth Industrial Revolutions. ABB operates in more than 100 countries with about 132,000 employees. www.abb.com.
