Manufactured predominantly from renewable, recycled or recyclable materials, SPACE2.0 has a 6.3 Star NAThERS rating exceeding current sustainability benchmarks.
All SPACE2.0 models are constructed with high performance insulation, thermally-improved aluminium window frames, double glazing, cross ventilation, large roof eaves, rain water recycling and compact flourescent lighting as standard inclusions, significantly reducing ongoing energy costs for the home owner.

MINING VIllAGE
Accommodation for mining camps is undergoing a fundamental ‘re-think’. Outdated mining camps cramping workers into barely livable accommodation are no longer acceptable. Mining operators are coming under increasing pressure to reduce “Fly-in-Fly-out” operations and to encourage development of local communities.
In January 2012, TEKTUM has been commissioned to undertake a concept master plan study for the construction of a 1700 man village for construction and operational staff for a planned underground coal mine in Queensland. TEKTUM submitted the concept master plan report early April.
This report describes the creation of a sustainable and lively village to help the mine attracting and retaining appropriate staff. Staff has been identified as one of the main risks in Australia’s mining industry. The lack of staff will reduce productivity and is creating enormous direct and indirect cost to the industry. Competitive advantage in this tense labour market will depend on good accommodation. TEKTUM’s ability to create sustainable communities and provide a superior housing solution offers the client an integrated approach to ensure the outcome is according to the required performance.

TEKTUM’s Model X range of three and four studio accommodation blocks is a direct response to market demand for quality, efficient, quiet and comfortable accommodation.
Model X is specifically designed for applications where there may be a requirement to relocate the block on more than one occasions. No on-site installation or assembly is required – the units are simply lifted onto prefinished footings and connected to the power and water grids, ready for immediate occupation.

Set on the northern beaches of tropical Mackay in north Queensland, Bucasia is a sleepy family oriented suburb.
TEKTUM’s hOUSE2.0 was completed in July 2012, in the week prior to the Queensland Mining Expo, and caused quite a stir with locals, expo delegates and the media, with the speed of installation taking most by surprise!
Open as a display home for six months, the house proved to be a very popular stop over with staff and clients, all of whom commented on the quality of the acoustics; the cross flow ventilation; and the high quality of the “space” as well as the finishes.
The Bucasia beach house has a 1.5kw Photo voltaic system; solar hot water; double glazing; achieved 6.3 stars under NaThERS’ and is cyclone Cat C rated. It is a Model S_4 version of hOUSE2.0, and can be configured as a two or three bedroom, with one bathroom. Bigger versions can be configured as four bedroom, two bathroom homes.

Many parts of Australia are flood prone, and the traditional “Queenslander” became the predominant response to the threat of flooding in many of these areas.
TEKTUM’s variant is essentially the standard hOUSE2.0 (such as the Bucasia Beach house) but elevated and with the sub-floor area enclosed for storage, car parking or informal entertainment. The cross breezes, and expansive shading offered by the format make the Queenslander and ideal layout for any area subject to the intensity of either rain or sun found across sections of the continent.

National Disability Living Solutions has contracted TEKTUM to develop a cluster of housing for a small community of people with special living requirements. Accessible bathrooms; attention to transition from vertical to horizontal surfaces; elimination of even the smallest trip hazard; and the use of colour and integrated landscape will all combine to make this a safe a and exceptionally pleasant environment for its residents.

The houses are currently in production, and the project is due to be handed over in June 2013.

ThE SPACE2.0 modular building system has been designed from the outset with greatest level of adaptability and flexibility in mind. The modular nature of the chassis and façade systems allows the product to be used in almost any location; configuration and end use.
The concept for this cluster was developed for UPlan Landscape Architecture in the Whitsunday area of tropical north Queensland. The client’s desire was to have an office environment which was an expression of the environmental principles employed in his practice, and which also had the flexibility to adapt to the ebb and flow of the business cycle inevitable in regional areas.

TEKTUM’s hospitality solution enables mine operators to create homely and comfortable spaces on their camps to assist in the attraction and retention of new staff.
The employee can enjoy a great food and beverage experience in an atmosphere resembling the one back home, complete with all the associated amenities. Additionally there is the unique outlook over the magnificent landscape of the Australian Outback through the modern layout and the large glazing of the building. The addition of such community space in the often harsh context of a mining village, will significantly benefit the well-being of staff significantly, and contribute to reducing the overall operational cost of the mine, thru reduced staff churn rates.
The cafe can be fully completed in factory, and delivered to site complete with furniture and catering equipment, and like any TEKTUM product, can be moved to a new location at any time.
