‘You challenge this term is to work in teams to design, build and fire a rocket to carry an egg to the greatest height and safely return the egg to earth again using a parachute.’
Each week we will be working on different tasks linked to our overall challenge and there will be an awards ceremony just before Christmas. There will be prizes for:• Greatest height achieved with egg returned in one piece!• Most innovative design• Greatest failure
Egg blast off...
TeamsYou have one minute to think of a team name and elect a team captain
The clock is ticking....
The space debateThis week we are going to start with a debate, sparked by the following question:
‘Should countries be allowed to send anything more into space?’
To answer this let’s think for a moment about what goes into space....
What goes into space?
So what’s the problem?
Activity one: Who’s view
Work together in your groups to think about
• Who might want to continue putting things into space and why?• Who might be against people putting things into space and why?
Write these on the flip chart in different colours to identify who is for and against.
Once you’ve done this, think about your own view and be ready to share it. Back your view up with a reason why.
