Hey Folks, Hope everyone is doing well. As my husband and I were riding to Chattanooga last month to attend Staff Sgt. David Wyatt's funeral, I wondered what we would encounter. We met up with about 1,000 other motorcyclists and waited for several hours until the funeral procession passed and we filed in behind the procession. Immediately, I was blown away at the huge masses of people lining the streets to pay their respects, who had also been waiting for several hours in the hot sun. Many people held up posters with messages of love and support, or drawings, many waved

American flags, many stood at attention in their dress blues. Many had tears running down their face. I felt so much emotion that I cried while riding past this beautiful display of support and love for the fallen soldier. I felt sadness at the loss of a life for no reason and the family who will miss him. I felt pride at how the city of Chattanooga all came together and united for a common purpose. On the radio, while I was in the funeral procession, I heard an announcer say "You can't have a community without unity". That statement made a profound impression on me and how that statement hit home. Chattanooga certainly has unity! And what a positive impression Chattanooga made to the U.S. and the world. Kudos to Chattanoogans.

We hope you will join the Southern Biker Magazine Road Crew in Chattanooga on Wed., Sept. 16 at 2pm for a benefit featuring a oncert with Brantley Gilbert and friends, Emcee Samuel L. Jackson, Armed Forces parade from Market Street to Ross's Landing, and fireworks. This event is free but money will be collected for the victims and families of the July 16 tragedy through The National Compassion Fund. It will be a memorable event for sure.

Attendance projections for this year’s 75th Sturgis Rally was hoping for 1 million attendees, which would

smash the old record set at the 60th Annual Sturgis, estimated to have been 633,000. Sturgis police Chief Jim Bush, who has worked nearly 40 of the last rallies said, “I’ll still say if it’s not the biggest, it’s going to be darn close to the biggest rally we ever had.”The South Dakota DOT posted its traffic counts for the 75th Sturgis and the numbers beat last year by 30%, but they did not set a record, at 510,749. The 50th and the record 60th annual Sturgis still had higher count numbers. Traffic numbers and actual numbers are always estimated since there are obviously some vehicles and motorcycles with more than one person, but the state’s official count ratio for this rally is 1.038 putting the number of people at the rally around 530,000. However, since this was the 75th Sturgis, many riders came up to 2 weeks early, and some even came the day after it was over. Those numbers will not be calculated into the totals, as they are counted on the same rally days, year over year. While I don’t think the actual number hit the million number, average estimates are placing it somewhere in the range 700-800,000.

Several Southern Biker Magazine Road Crew members and many friends enjoyed their time there and concluded it was one the largest they had ever seen. Many rally

sites exploded with tons of entertainment and thousands of excited attendees. The Buffalo Chips, Broken Spoke Saloon, Full Throttle Saloon, the Iron Horse Campground, the Spur and many more held acts like Alice Cooper, Brantley Gilbert, God Smack, Lynard Skynard, The Guess Who, Def Leppard, Jasmine Cain, Hank Williams Jr. and more!!

So many other things we attended kept everyone hopping; the Buffalo Chips Legends Ride, the woman riders of the Biker Belles, the Black Hills Half Mile flat track races, Doug Danger’s record motorcycle jump, custom bike shows everywhere and of course the area rides through the Black Hills.

This event was definitely one for the books and if you’ve never attended one, it just has to go on your bucket list.

Sturgis, Kentucky and the Union County Fairgrounds were the site

for a wildcat of a party! Signifying that it is the #1 Kentucky Rally to attend, the organizers brought in top entertainers and some fabulous vendors to handle the thousands that attended. Black Stone Cherry, Jared Blake, Big Engine, Orray Kraw, Blind Peace, Geneva and more put on some of the best performances ever.

From the Full Throttle Saloon in South Dakota, MC Goat entertained on the mic and the Cherry Bomb Girls danced their behinds off and partied with everyone. Contests were held in the air conditioned building each day as was the huge bike show. They even had some dirt drags going on too.

Get your calendars out and mark this one down for 2016. It is one of the must-go-to rallies of the year.

BigHearts

Bikers of all ages, shapes, sizes and cultures have one very big thing in common – their generosity and fund raising abilities. Bikers simply have big hearts and they show it by always looking for ways to combine their passion of riding with a good cause. From accident victims to helping children and everything in between, I have seen the hearts and wallets of motorcyclists open up and give. They are one of the most generous

groups of people as a whole that I have ever met.

One year we had a flood in a very poor area near our dealership. Relief and supplies weren't getting in as quick as they were needed. We had customers bring in food items and cleaning supplies and then brought them to a local center for distribution. Every year in our area they do a big Christmas ride to benefit a local children's home. Interestingly enough, I was a house parent at that same home nearly forty years ago. At ROAR, we continually gave donations to different charity poker runs, silent auctions and other benefits.

This article is just a shout out to all you big hearted bikers. Some people might not be able to see past the leather or the beard, but I know you're there. Heavy owns Midwest Motorcycles on Beach Street in Daytona and he might not like me sharing because he doesn't do it for the recognition but there's been times

when I've needed to raise money to help kids in need and he's always stepped up. If you need to rent a motorcycle when you're in for an event, check out Midwest. Giving is good for the heart! Keep it up bikers – you're doing an awesome job making a difference.

The communities around Chattanooga, the state of Tennessee, the entire

country have seemingly come together… United. Five of our brave soldiers have died and the entire country mourns their loss. Their funerals were signified with thousands of people lining the Chattanooga streets and hundreds of motorcycle riders escorting their bodies to their final resting place.

The motorcycles for all five men’s funerals numbered in the thousands. Never have I been more proud of being a motorcycle rider as to watch every person from every walk of life, come together, United, for our brothers in Arms. Never have I personally seen the outpouring of such love and humbleness by the way these men were honored from everyday Americans.

Now, with a permanent memorial erected, a community will still have a place to come together to remember and to pray for those lost and for the ones, still in harm’s way. Even at home, they remain in harm’s way.

I cry sometimes just thinking about these five men, their families, their friends and their military families. Sometimes there is no straight answer for things that are wrong. God will comfort those hurting and God will hold those accountable that do bad things. While we are still here on this earth, it’s not about what you own or how much money you have that counts, it’s how you lived your life and how your actions have influenced people, some you may not even know, that will determine how you are remembered. #NoogaStrong

Hot Hot is just how you have to describe Boogie Hollar as it is growing in

size and numbers at each event. Herbert & Amber Clark took 127 acres and have turned it into one heck of a party central in West Tennessee. They packed the stage with bands to entertain the crowds all day and night; Stolen Rhodes, Skipper Grace, the Twin Soul Band and the Allen Warren Band. “Crystal Birdwell (ventriloquist & comedian) is as good or better than any other comedy routine I’ve seen on TV,” said Biker Bob of USA Biker Parties.

Lots of biker games and contests happened every day and some folks took home top honors for their fun time. The bike show was the best they’ve had so far and vendors were there with anything the attendees needed including some great food and cold beverages.

RVs, trailers and tents were strategically placed all over the property for folks to get the most enjoyment out of their stay. Motorcycles and golf carts were running all day taking folks to all the events on the property.

Make your plans to attend the 2016 Spring & Summer Boogie Hollar. They are going to be off the chain!

Brian Avey, a server at the Buffalo

Wild Wings in Tacoma, Washington, said a “military woman” came into the restaurant around lunchtime and attempted to order one Blue Moon and one Corona at the same time. But there was a problem, you can’t do

that. When Avey explained the state’s law of only allowing one beer at a time, the female vet said that the Corona she ordered wasn’t for her; it was for her brother who had died serving in Iraq. He defied the states law and brought both beers.

Avey said that the beer simply sat next to her at an empty place setting during her entire lunch. When he brought her the bill, he said that BWW would be buying that beer. She said thank you

and left. On the receipt she wrote; “Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day… Grateful Soldiers.”

After she left, he didn’t have the heart to dump the beer out so he put it on top of the cooler next to an American Flag. (Later) When he explained to his boss what happened, his boss amazingly said, “That’s Fine, just do me a favor, put a fresh lime in it every morning.”It is still there today.

Do I have "Full Coverage"? What I have learned from speaking at dozens of

seminars and meetings is that the general public's perception of full coverage doesn't really mean what most people think. The term "full coverage" usually means your policy has collision coverage on it to cover property damage in the event you cause an accident. Yet, when only focusing on these two questions, you might leave out the most important issue. The most important thing you should be thinking about when either purchasing new insurance, especially on your bike, is: "What happens if the accident is not your fault? Am I protected in the event I have medical bills or miss work?"The majority of motorcycle accidents are just that, caused by someone else. whether it is a truck taking a left turn in front of you, or a minivan not paying attention and striking you in the rear, you could all of the sudden be relying on the hope that the individual who just altered your life was responsible enough to have adequate insurance Yet, there are ways to protect yourself before an accident ever happens. The way to do this is make sure you have adequate uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.

In most southern states, the term "uninsured motorist" coverage does not simply mean it only applies when an individual is "uninsured". In most situations, your coverage could be applied when an individual is "underinsured". So take this scenario: You get hit on your bike, and have to have surgery on your leg. You find out your medical bills are $50,000.00, and you are out of work for a month. You then find out the person that hit you only carries $25,000.00 in insurance. You could have a probem. If you have adequate uninsured motorist insurance, in most situations, you would be allowed to use your own insurance after you have exhausted the at-fault partyies' insurance policy. This could become crucial if you are laying in bed unable to provide for your family.

Now, depending on where you live and how your policy is written, different states have laws which will dictate whether you can use your uninsured motorist policies from just your bike or the policies from all of the vehicles you own. States like Tennessee and South Carolina have much more complicated uninsured motorist rules than, let's say, Georgia. This is very important when looking into whether or not you can "stack" all of your policies. If you have questions about your own policies or even just want an attorney to take a look at what you carry to make sure you and your family are protected, give us a call over at Steelhorse Law. We would be happy to go into more detail about how these policies can protect you in the event someone forces you to lay your bike down. Don't wait until it is too late.
