, Welcome back to Term 4 and a big welcome to a number of new families to our wonderful school. I hope all our families had a restful and enjoyable holiday and we are looking forward to an exciting Term 4. There are a number of important events and presentations throughout this term so please keep a close eye on our calendar, Facebook page etc. for upcoming events. If you are in any doubt please contact the office for clarification. Next Tuesday Stage 2 and Stage 3 will be holding a Silver and Gold Badge assembly in our Primary Hall beginning promptly at 11.00am. Congratulations to these students who have achieved this prestigious level as part of our positive reward system. Invitations have been sent home to parents of these students. Today we welcomed Bernadette and Lara from Fresh Dental to our school to present each class with information on how to maintain healthy dental hygiene. Each student also received a dental pack. Our thanks to Bernadette, Lara and Fresh Dental for providing this excellent presentation for our students. Next Wednesday we will be holding our fourth parent workshop from 2.00-3.00pm and 3.30-4.30pm in the Library. The topic for this workshop is utilising iPads and Mr Taylor will be presenting. All parents are welcome. Good luck to Lemeki Kurimalawai, Olivia Bax-Hall and Ryan Wheeler who are attending the NSW State Athletics carnival next week in Sydney. This is a fantastic achievement by these athletes to represent North Coast and it also offers them an excellent opportunity to perform against high class opposition. Next Thursday our Band and Skipping Team are performing at Yamba and Maclean Public Schools. Our thanks to Ms Edwards and Mrs Gillett who will be accompanying our students. During the holiday period we installed carpet in Mr Taylor’s room and also installed a new air conditioner in the Primary IT room as part of our ongoing upgrades. The Partners in Learning parent feedback survey Our school is participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. The survey is conducted entirely online at home or on public computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey can be accessed from now until 21st October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, however, your responses are very much appreciated. The survey can be accessed at: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/cbnnt Anyone who wishes to complete the survey but doesn't have computer or internet access is welcome to come to the Vere St campus during school hours and complete the survey in the school library. The library is also open on Wednesday afternoons for parents until 4.30pm. More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents We would really appreciate as many of our parents and carers as possible taking part in the survey as this will give us valuable information to improve our school and the learning environment for our students. As part of our dual campus we are implementing a comprehensive Year 2 into Year 3 transition program which will run for this term. Some of the activities include buddy letter writing, buddy reading, visiting classrooms and activity sessions together. This will ensure our Year 2 students have a positive primary experience and are prepared for Year 3 next year. Our thanks to Mrs Fletcher and our staff for their organisation of this transition.
