KEY EVENTSFounded in 1962 by Christian de Maillard,

SOPPEC was initially a Charente-based

company which elaborated paints, wood

maintenance products and varnishes for

professional use.

On the eve of the 1990s, the company was

specialising in the design, manufacture

and marketing of innovative marking

systems in aerosols.

Intended initially for forestry marking

professionals, the SOPPEC aerosols have

made a successful name for themselves

in the building and public works world,

carried by the development of an

innovative, patented safety spray cap.

In 2004, Thibault de Maillard, Managing

Director since 1996, succeeded his father

and became the owner of a constantly-

growing company that had become the

European leader in its markets, with

innovation and diversification the keys to

its development.

Having opened a new logistics and storage

site in 2009, 2010 marked a new stage for

SOPPEC with a significant increase in its

production capacity to support the growth

of its domestic and export markets.

THE VALUES WHICH MAKES US DIFFERENT

C U S T O M E R

S A T I S F A C T I O N

Customer satisfaction is one of the key

values in our international development. It

is based on constantly and cost-effectively

improving performances, respecting

the health and safety of people using

our products, innovation and focusing

carefully on detecting expectations and

new requirements.

I N N O V A T I O N

The fruit of nearly thirty years of research

and testing, the creation of aerosol

marking systems was a major innovation

and represented decisive progress for

professional users. Our product ranges

have been improved constantly since then.

Focusing on five major aspects: durability,

product safety, broadening and updating

the range (colours, textures, functions),

ease of application and respect of man and

the environment.

T R U S T

Analyses, qualitative tests, multiple ins-

pections, ageing tests, etc. Every product

manufactured by SOPPEC benefits from our

total process control, from design to market

launch. This total traceability is what makes

SOPPEC so trusted by professionals.

R I S K M A N A G E M E N T

SOPPEC has been committed to a glo-

bal quality, safety and environmentally-

friendly approach for twenty years. This

includes risk control for both the produc-

tion and logistics sites and product users.

Our “SEVESO“-classified French manufac-

turing sites are measured specifically for

the storage of gases and solvents used in

the aerosols. The products themselves are

inspected many times for their seal and

reliability.

INTERNATIONAL COATINGS CARE® COMMITMENT SOPPEC pioneered the introduction of the COATINGS CARE international programme into France in the 1990s. An initiative specific to the coatings industry (paints, glues and adhesives, inks, etc.), the Coatings Care Programme has been implemented in more than ten countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Australia and France, for more than ten years. Its signatories undertake to consider and control the impacts of their activities on health, safety and the environment. They are therefore adhering to genuine ethics of responsibility and on-going improvement.

QSE-CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMThe QSE integrated management system is based on three certifications - ISO 9001 for Quality, ISO 14001 for the Environment and OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety. In these three complementary fields, the SOPPEC approach is based on analysing and preventing risks, on-going improvement of performances, compliance with regulatory requirements and customer satisfaction. The triple certification has been renewed successfully every three years since 2004.

TAKING UP THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGEToday, the certifications obtained by the company and their renewal commit SOPPEC to a path of real sustainable development policy. This policy is hence-forth defined in the charter below.

SOPPEC COMMITMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT• Make environmental protection, human health and responsibility for individuals the conditions of its survival.

• Promote internally a genuine sustainable development attitude, where social dialogue, awareness-raising, staff training and an organisa-

tion to achieve this reign supreme.

• Act as an ambassador for sustainable development to its customers, suppliers and partners.

• Behave as a socially responsible company by conducting a policy of transparency, on-going improvement and listening.

• Contribute to the search for and development of ever-safer products.

• Comply with and even anticipate the health, safety and environment regulations for an economically acceptable cost.

• Make its ethical and law-abiding behaviour the fundamental rule in its commercial initiatives.

TO MARK

Line marking is just as necessary in industry as in

sports facilities or communities to structure the

space, delimit the surfaces and optimise traffic.

SOPPEC has developed marking solutions to cover all these

requirements. The TRACING® and TRACING® plus line

marker range and marking trolley satisfy the most severe

requirements of resistance to grime and pulling off under

mechanical wear. For more substantial work, the «Airless»

electric tracing machine POWERsol and its range of paints

is the ideal alternative between aerosol trolleys and road

machinery.

STORAGE & HANDLING

The aerosols should be stored between 15 and 25°C and 50% to 60% relative humidity.Do not expose to a temperature greater than 50°C.Keep away from all ignition and heat sources and direct sunlight. As with any other handling and storage operation, it is especially recommended NOT TO SMOKE.

COMPOSITION

Binder: acrylic.Pigments: lead- and cadmium-free mi-neral and organic.Solvents: complex mix free of chlorina-ted solvents and aromatic compounds (toluene, xylene, etc.).Propellant gas: specific mix of isobu-tane and propane.

APPLICATION METHOD

Manually or with our application equip-ment (four-wheel trolley, gun handle, see page 15).Drying time: 15 to 20 min.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Consult the material safety data sheets free of charge on the Internet: www.quick-fds.com. CLP Labelling with one hazard pictogram.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF USE

Regardless of soil type, the following

conditions must be required for a good

application of TRACING® :

Correct preparation of the surface to be

painted is absolutely essential so that

the paint adheres well. Clean the sur-

face carefully so that it is free of dust,

dirt, grease, etc.

The hygrometry rate should be between

10% and 15%.

The application temperature should not

be less than 5°C.

For a good quality line, the first pass

must be quick (outline coat); on the

other hand, the second and, if neces-

sary, third pass will be slower to obtain

the desired coverage.

Recommendations per soil type:CONCRETEWhen applying TRACING® on new

ground, a minimum of three to four

weeks is necessary for the concrete to

dry out (DTU standard) and all acidity to

be eliminated.

ASPHALTIt is advisable to wait at least two weeks

to mark on a new asphalt surface to

avoid changing the marking quality.

Special case of «synthetic» surfaces

(plastic, PVC, varnish) and painted floors (epoxy, PU).

There are many types of paints in this field and TRACING® may not be com-patible with the floor paint (giving adhe-sion problems). It is therefore advisable in these very special cases to test in ad-vance.

• The lines can be coated with our PROTECT LINE varnish (see page 12) to increase further their resistance over time and their resistance to grime.

LAWN AND GRASSAt least two passes are advisable to pro-duce a crisp, covering line.

Consult the technical sheet or contact our services for the best conditions for using this product.

You can rely on the expertise of

the European leader in aerosol

marking:

Thermokit is manufactured by SOPPEC,

the European N°1 for aerosol marking

products.

We provide solutions to thousands of

construction companies, the timber

industry and to industry in general.

Providing products which protect

both people and the environment is

particularly important to us.

For further information visit our

website: www.soppec.fr.

APPLICATION METHOD

THERMO MARKER:

1. Thermo Marker paint should be

applied on a yellow background to be

clearly visible in negative temperatures.

For best results we recommend using

our yellow Tracing paint (ref.151602)

and our square stencil specifically

designed for this purpose (ref.451730).

If using any other yellow background,

a preliminary test is essential to verify

the compatibility of the Thermo Marker

paint with the background.

2. Before applying the Thermo Marker

paint ensure that the yellow background

is clean and dry (about 45 minutes for

Tracing Yellow).

3. Shake the can vigorously in an upside-

down position to thoroughly mix the

paint, continuing after clearly hearing

the agitator balls.

4. Apply the Thermo Marker paint at

approximately 20cm from the surface

in successive thin even layers. For an

even more effective warning sign, we

recommend using our ice warning

stencil (ref. 451731).

For a greater ease of application Thermo

Marker can also be applied using our

SOPPEC applicator gun (ref. 432447).

5. After use: Purge for 2 - 3 seconds

head up (until only gas comes out) to

clean the valve and the nozzle. Purging

is imperative to ensure that the aerosol

continues to function correctly right to

the end of its life.

6. Before proceeding to the next step,

wait until the paint is touch-dry (about

30 minutes but this can vary according

to the temperature and the thickness of

the paint applied).

To EXTEND the life of the marking, it is

IMPERATIVE to then apply our Thermo

Protect varnish over the entire surface of

the marking.

THERMO PROTECT:

1. Thermo Protect varnish should be

applied over Thermo Chromic Thermo

Protect paint which is clean and dry.

2. Shake the aerosol vigorously for 15

seconds to thoroughly mix the Thermo

Protect varnish.

3. Apply the Thermo Protect varnish

approximately 20cm from the surface in

successive thin even layers taking care

to completely cover the Thermochromic

marking.

STORAGE & HANDLING

The aerosols should be stored between

15 and 25°C and 50% to 60% relative

humidity.

Do not expose to a temperature greater

than 50°C.

Keep away from all ignition and heat

sources and direct sunlight.

As with any other handling and storage

operation, it is especially recommended

NOT TO SMOKE.

COMPOSITION

Binder: acrylic.

Pigments: Latest-generation photo-

luminescent (longer lasting and more

intense). They are free of lead, cadmium

and radioactive material.

Solvents: complex mix free of chlorina-

ted solvents and aromatic compounds

(toluene, xylene…).

Propellant gas: specific mix of isobu-tane and propane.

APPLICATION METHOD

Manual application or using our

application equipment (handle).

• This product can be used for markings

visible in the dark after illumination by

a natural or artificial light source; for

example, emergency exits, safety areas

in tunnels, extinguisher locations,

miscellaneous signalling, etc.

• It is a good idea to apply one or two

coats of white paint in advance to

any non-white surface. The whiter

the surface, the greater the marking

luminosity.

• Spray fine, even coats onto a clean, dry

surface from 10 to 20 cm away.

• The thicker the PHOTO LIGHT, the

longer it will last and the more intense

it will be.

The photoluminescence of the paint can

be renewed indefinitely without loss of

quality.

Can be used on all types of surface

provided they are white or covered with

a white undercoat (concrete, wood,

bitumen, metal and stone, etc.).

A test is recommended in advance on

plastic surfaces to check compatibility.

Protect adjacent surfaces if necessary to

prevent projections (mist).

• Upright, apply less than 10 cm

from the surface for clear, ac-

curate marking.

• BEFORE USE: Shake the aerosol

with the upside down to mix the

paint properly (you can hear the

beads clearly).

• AFTER USE: purge upside down

(until only gas is released) to

clean valve and spray.

RETRO-REFLECTIVE MARKING SPRAYREFLECT LIGHT® is a retro-reflective varnish aerosol which becomes luminous in darkness in a beam of light (torch, vehicle headlights, etc.)• It is formulated with specially-treated glass microbeads. A «safety» solution for easy signalling of a natural obstacle or particular risk in poor visibility, outside or inside.Numerous applications for an effect similar to signage panels: signalling a hazardous area, marking out a route, securing premises, sites, signage for sports events.

REFLECT LIGHT®

Long lasting over time: six to twelve months (depending on the surfaces and application conditions)

• Applicable in one thin coat on all surfaces and materials.

• Good adhesion.

• Quick drying: 5 min.

• Immediately highly reflective at night in a direct light beam (30 to 40 m).

ADVICE ON USE

• Upside down.

• BEFORE USE: shake the aerosol

vigorously for about fifteen se-

conds, even after hearing the beads

clearly, to mix the paint properly (in

particular to mix the glass micro-

beads in again).

• Shake the aerosol regularly du-

ring use (as the microbeads are

fairly heavy, they fall to the bottom

of the aerosol quickly). Shake the

aerosol again every thirty seconds

approximately during application

and vent regularly.

• DO NOT APPLY A SINGLE THICK

COAT.

• AFTER USE: purge upright (until

only gas is released) to clean valve

and spray.

• Should «haphazard» spraying oc-

cur (microbeads blocking the valve

in the open position), vent the ae-

rosol for a long time and shake it

well again before using it once

more; if the defect continues, re-

move the sprayer.

• If the aerosol clogs, shake it and

press the sprayer several times

in succession to obtain a regular

spray.

STORAGE AND HANDLING

The aerosols should be stored between 15 and 25°C and 50% to 60% relative humidity.Do not expose to a temperature greater than 50°C.Keep away from all ignition and heat sources and direct sunlight. As with any other handling and storage operation, it is especially recommended NOT TO SMOKE.

APPLICATION METHOD

• Manually or with our application

equipment (handle, stencils, see page

15).

• This product can «illuminate» at night

objects under a direct light beam

(similar effect to signalling panels).

• Apply to a clean, dry surface.

• Apply thin, even coats 10 to 20 cm from the surface (application by

successive tints)

• Take care not to overload the applications to achieve maximum

reflective power. A single thin coat is

normally required (except on porous

surfaces).

• During the day, the application should

be barely visible.

• Can be applied to all types of surface

(concrete, wood, bitumen, metal,

stone, etc.).

A test is recommended in advance on

plastic or painted surfaces to check

compatibility.

• Protect adjacent surfaces if necessary

to prevent projections (mist).

• The retro-reflection can be checked by

shining a torch held at eye level onto

the dry painted surface.
