Letter from the President

I am proud to bring you the first-ever semester showcase brochure! Inside, you will find

highlights of what we do in the club, as well as a detailed description of every event and

speaker that came to visit us!

Our commitment to the mission statement was tied in directly with the activities this

semester had to offer. Not only did we provide ways in which members and officers

could lead in projects, we also made sure to give time to our resumes and cover letters

by creating a link to the Career Center. Our Speaker Series especially created new

outlooks on what it means to be in marketing today, and the community service really

taught us the essence of giving back!

As you will see in this showcase brochure, our officers, as well as our members,

contributed to the success of this semester’s goals and mission. I hope you take the

time to read it thoroughly, and hope to hear from you in the future!

Thank you!

Taylor Scotto

WELCOME TO THE MARKETING CLUB!

As a student you may find it difficult to decide what

path to take, which programs and clubs to join, and

even who to listen to. The marketing club is one wayto help with these dilemmas!

The Marketing Club is here to help link your goals as

a student towards passions or interests you have

outside the classroom. We are here to help you get

one step further towards personal pursuits after

college, wherever they may be! Even if you are not a

member, we encourage you to check out this showcase packet to see just exactly who

we are, what we do, and why we choose to be in this growing organization!

Get InvolvedAsk any advisor on campus, as well as any employer, and they will usually tell you to get

involved! During your time in college, it is important to meet new friends and have fun,

but why not do that WHILE advancing your learning experience? Here are three reasons

why the Marketing Club can add to your college years:

•  Become a Leader - The marketing club is a great way to stand out from the

rest. Not only do you get to have the opportunity to learn from and be

around like-minded individuals, you have the chance to lead them! Show

this school and those around youthe unique perspective you give

to the world!

•  Network - Hear about more

opportunities to meet with

business leaders and

entrepreneurs and use your

status as a member of the

Marketing Club to open or lead

conversations with those youmeet. Especially with our SPEAKER SERIES, find out about real insights by

those who speak exclusively with us!

•  Impress your employer - Answer questions confidently in your next

interview with REAL examples from your time in the Marketing Club. Not

only will you be able to put this on your resume, but our connection with the

SBE Career Center will allow you to take your resume to the next level!

EVENTS

Our events are what make this club unique! Not only do we try and create a fun and

social environment, we also try to focus on your goals as a student. From meeting the

marketing team of the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS before a game, to getting a private tour

inside GOOGLE, our club has many perks! Check out the events of this semester and see

what this club can offer you!

Back To Business BBQ The back to business BBQ allowed members to re-connect from last semester and meet

those who were interested this semester! The marketing club, along with 5 other

business clubs, were all present to create a great social mixer and start the semester off

right!

Giants GameThe Giants game, sponsored by the Sports

Business Club, allowed members to get away for

a night and attend the Giants game in San

Francisco!

5k Fun RunThe 5k Fun run was a huge success, creating not

only a fun run dedicated to supporting the Boys

and Girls Club of Rohnert Park, but also a day to

socialize and enjoy great company!

GoogleThis semester we were able to get an exclusive tour of Google in Mountain View, CA!

The tour provided great insights as to what it means to work in marketing, and we were

able to meet new friends along the

way!

Sharks GameAfter the Google tour, members

from the club hung out in San Jose,

CA until the San Jose Sharks vs NewYork Islanders game later that night!

This was a great time to socialize,

mingle with members,

Dine N’ DonateThe Dine N’ Donate program allows us to collaborate with a

local business to raise funds for the club. This semester, El

Torrito hosted our Dine N Donate in a great night of food

and fun!

Club MixersClub mixers provide great opportunities to network with

other student organizations and potential members. This semester, we had mixers with

the Sports Business Club as well as with the Accounting Forum and Finance Club.

Sunday FundaySunday Funday gives us a chance to gather

outside of school and work in an informal

setting. This helps build club moral and creates

the successful culture we continue to thrive in!

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Especially in business, it is important to give back to the

community. Not only does this show others the possible

ways that they can contribute, it allows the community to get

to know you on a personal level. Take a look at this

semester’s activities!

Fall 2010 Turkey BowlThe Turkey Bowl was a huge

success! Not only did members

from the Marketing Club come

out and bowl, but we were able

to get a few strikes to donate a total of 4 turkeys and $25 to

NOAH (Neighbors Organized Against Hunger)! Our team

bowled against members from Rotaract, and in the end,

made new friends in the process!

ProgramDuring the

semester, we heard

about the program

through our

contact from the

Rotaract Chapter of

Rohnert Park. The program designates 72 backpacks to be filled with food, all

sponsored by members of Rotaract and

members of the community to give to

elementary students who are in need of food

over the weekend.
