AIR FLOW TRAINING UNIT
HIS Air Flow Training Unit (Model: FM 21) has been designed to demonstrate to students the principles
of compressible fluid flow. The unit comes with a motor driven centrifugal fan and various interchangeable
test sets such as multitube manometer test set, venturi, orifice and pitot tube test set, Bernoulli’s theorem
test set, flow around a bend test set, pressure losses in pipes test set, jet dispersion test set and boundary layer
growth test set. The air flow rate through the duct is adjustable rate through the duct.

SPECIFICATIONS
The unit consists of epoxy coated steel frame
constructed on castors, comes with centrifugal fan and
necessary control panel. Various test sets are supplied
with the unit for students to run experiments on the
principles of compressible fluid flow.

Traversed pitot tube with adjustable scale
Orifice plates (two different sizes)

FM 21C - Bernoulli’s Theorem Test Set:
Clear acrylic duct with convergence, throat and
divergence sections.
Traversed pitot tube installed in centre line of the
duct.
FM 21D - Flow Around A Bend:
Acrylic 90o bend squre ducting with a straight section
before the bend dimension 60 x 50 mm

FM 21E - Flow In Pipes:
Different pipe sections to study:
♦ Duct entry pressure profile
♦ Suden enlargement losses from 65 to 95mm ∅
♦ Friction loss in 2.8m pipe (95mm ∅)
♦ Velocity of profile in 2.8m (95mm ∅)

FM 21F - Jet Dispersion Test Set:
Traversed pitot tube
FM 21G - Boundary Layer Growth Test Set:
Traversed pitot tube to measure velocity profile at
four different locations
Reversible flat plate with sharp and blunt leading
edges and smooth and roughened surfaces
FM 21H - Smoke Generation System
Includes a smoke generator to demonstrate visually
the flow of air around models.
