One night after seeing a great concert featuringtrumpeters Jon Faddis and Steve Enos, Taylor was so inspired that he decided then andthere that he wanted a career in music.

Soon after that experience the accolades began piling up for the budding youngmusician – no doubt it’s because the talented trumpeter has studied and performed withsome of the most renowned jazz musicians and educators. In 2007, Taylor completed hisB.A. in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University, where he studied with Derrick Gardner,Wess Anderson and Rodney Whitaker. Two years later he went on to attain his Master’s atRutgers University where he studied with the late William “Prof” Fielder. More extensively Taylor’s stint with jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut included anotable concert performance at Kennedy Center recorded for NPR’s Jazzset, anappearance at the Spoleto Jazz Festival, and a week long engagement at Dizzy’s Club inNYC. In addition, Taylor had the great opportunity to tour internationally with virtuosicsaxophonist James Carter’s Quintet, performing in: Germany, France, Italy, Spain,Sweden, Canada, and Austria.

In more recent years, Taylor has had the wonderful opportunity to perform and recordwith rising Jazz star Gregory Porter. Taylor’s trumpet can be heard on Gregory Porter’sdebut album Water and on his junior release (Blue Note records) Liquid Spirit. Bothalbums were nominated for Grammys. The development of a true jazz singer is a long-rangeprospect, laden with learning experiences that forge the voice into a true instrument, richwith passion, deeply invested in living through life’s joys and perils; such is the journey ofVanessa Rubin, jazz singer extraordinaire. Capable of employing the gamut of emotions, the mature Ms. Rubin can range from whisper to shout in the blink of an eye; from honey-laden ballads purring like a kitten, to up tempo swinging and scatting like a fluent

laden ballads purring like a kitten, to up tempo swinging and scatting like a fluentsaxophone, she delivers the goods.

One of the surest tests of a jazz singer is her acceptance by skilled players; therelationship between instrumentalist and vocalist is so often fraught with distrust. Vanessa Rubin has never experienced such travails. From the time she joined the NewYork jazz community in the early 80s, under the guidance of such grandmasters as BarryHarris and Frank Foster, Rubin’s acceptance has been universal. Instrumentalists havealways been impressed by her way around a song, her willingness to flow with their muse, and her innate ability to swing that music.

The list of great musicians who have graced her recordings and bandstands is quiteimpressive: Monty Alexander, Cecil Bridgewater, Kenny Burrell, Frank Foster, BillyHiggins, Etta Jones, Lewis Nash, Houston Person, Patience Higgins, Don Braden, TootsThielemans, Steve Turre, Cedar Walton, Grover Washington, Jr., and James Williams arejust a few of the masters who’ve lent their skills to support Ms. Rubin’s artistry. Morerecently she has completed auspicious global tours with Herbie Hancock, the WoodyHerman Orchestra, and the Jazz Crusaders.

Cleveland based Singer Songwriter and Trio make their Nighttown debut!Featuring: Morgan Mecaskey-vocals and guitar, Anthony Foti-drums, & MatthewDeRubertis-bass.

With Special Guest Opening Act, Singer Songwriter Ray Flanigan.

Morgan Mecaskey is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalistliving in Cleveland, Ohio. The former front of acclaimed local indie/folk band Tinamou,Mecaskey made her solo debut in 2012 with the EP, "Righteous Kind". "Righteous Kind" isa heart and head experience for the listener: earnest lyrics delve into metaphysicalquestions while vivid soundscapes, whimsical motifs, and fat beats build the bold andbeguiling album.

Mecaskey has been likened to artist Jeff Buckley in the way she composes and coveys hermusic. An apt comparison, Mecaskey's forceful, assured presence, deliberatearrangements, and confident handling of the guitar create an unorthodox, ethereal, visceral musical experience.

"Lover Less Wild", Mecaskey's most recent recording, commences with the shimmering, passionate anthem "White Horse", wherein Mecaskey croons, "Sometimes, I don't feellike who I really am" over and over. It’s a solid anthem that sets the tone for the EP.Woozy horns drive the mellow, R&B-inspired “Fighting Extinction, ” and the title track is ajazzy number that allows Mecaskey to show off her terrific voice. The Joni Mitchell-likeballad “Crushed” has a genuine tenderness to it, making it the perfect album closer.

Both "Lover Less Wild" and "Righteous Kind" were recorded and engineered by DaveDouglas at Danger House (Cleveland, OH). "Lover Less Wild" was mastered by AdamBoose at Cauliflower Audio and "Righteous Kind" by Doc Harrill at Liquid Synergy Studios.

Stephen Fowler

Growing up in suburban Cleveland, Ohio as a “PK” (preacher’s kid),Stephen Fowler’s music testimonial starts off like so many others: “Iwas not allowed to listen to anything other than gospel music, so Icut my teeth on The Winans, John P. Kee, The Mighty Clouds of Joyand Commissioned.” It wasn’t until Stephen stumbled across old 8-track tapes of Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin did he discover aworld outside of gospel. From then on, he would listen to anything hecould get his ears on, finding influence in such artist as DonnyHathaway, The Gap Band, The Beatles, James Brown, and a host ofothers. Listening to such a vast array of artists helped shape a soundthat can be described in so many ways, but Stephen likes to call it

“soulfully original”. Stephen started playing for his church when he was 11 years old. Heoften describes himself as a singer who “happens” to know how to play piano and bass.

Stephen has been blessed to perform locally, nationally, and internationally, includingGermany, Switzerland and Austria, with such artists as Pamela Williams, Walter Barnes, Jr.& Men Of Ministry, and Bob Singleton’s Golden Gospel Singers. Stephen has also beenseen performing on “The Situation with Tucker Carlson” (MSNBC), “The 2007 Bobby JonesInternational Gospel Artist Retreat” (The Word Network), “The Gospel of Music with JeffMajors (TV One), and “Bobby Jones Gospel Hour” (BET). Most recently, Stephen was seenby over 30 million viewers on the 8th season of the biggest television show in the world,“American Idol”, where he made it to the Top 36 Semifinal round.
