YWP Program Summary Platinum Package Amount

Mentoring Program (3 events) $2,500 Tertiary Engagement Program (3 events) $1,500

End of Year Event and Site Tour $1,100 Reconciliation Week Workshops and networking (2 events) $2,500

programs included herein.

The WA mentoring program is a year-long program designed to encourage professional mentoring in

the water industry. Young water professional members are connected to experienced professionals

and encouraged to meet in a structured one-on-one format to the benefit of both parties. The

program begins with a speed networking session to allow all attendees to meet, network and

preference a suitable mentor/mentee. During the course of the program, emails are sent out with

helpful mentoring topics to discuss as a reminder for participants to arrange a mentoring catch-up. A

mid-program unstructured networking session is arranged to allow participants to meet as a group

and discuss their experience in the program.

Three seminars from Semester 1 2018 to end Semester 1 2019

The Tertiary Engagement Program seeks to engage students and university staff to bridge the gap between university and industry. The program aims to target students and staff involved with water related courses by holding seminars in conjunction with university timetabling. The seminars will give students an insight to AWA, its role as an organisation and the benefits of membership, via personal stories of current AWA members at different stages of their water career.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is celebrated annually from 27 May to 3 of June. The week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements - part of a reconciliation journey that is strengthening respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In 2017, the YWP held their first NRW event and had the privilege of Dr Noel Nannup sharing the synergies between western science and traditional Indigenous knowledge of land and water systems. Dr Nannup helped us realise that many of us in the industry lack even foundational knowledge of Aboriginal culture. As such, in 2018 we have invited ICEA Foundation to share some of this knowledge with AWA WA as part of NRW 2018. ICEA's overarching purpose is to achieve reconciliation through mutual respect for all Australians. ICEA will be facilitating a two-hour workshop that looks at the meaning of reconciliation through yarns and group activities. The session will also include a workshop on meaningful Acknowledgement of Country for corporate events. In 2019, to further grow AWA WA’s knowledge of Aboriginal land and water systems in WA, the YWPs are planning for Urban Indigenous to run a water themed 2-3-hour language and bush workshop. AWA WA invites you to be part of this journey, as we seek to explore how the water industry can join the national reconciliation effort. Core Program Partner Benefits Platinum

The Information & Advocacy Sub Committee will hold its annual Policy Forum event on Thursday 24 May 2018 at the offices of Aecom, in the Perth CBD. The science, technology and policy interface. More than ever we are mobilising technology, cross sectoral collaboration, networks and various sources of knowledge (including Indigenous knowledge or “Soft” science) to provide solutions to our greatest challenges and complex problems. This creates further challenges: how can policy keep pace and stay relevant in this changing and ever complex world and in what new ways might we need to approach the science, technology and policy interface? Previous research has identified the science-technology-policy interface is enabled by many factors. Our panel of experts will present their views and engage in a facilitated discussion on the enabling factors for policy development in a changing world. A policy forum event will also be held in 2019, Topic, date and location TBC.
