Activity 37 Clear Instructions

Rhiannon is the new office girl and part of her duties is to collect the lunches for the

staff from the local restaurant. She has never worked in the city and does not know

the streets or the places except where the big department store – Moore’s is. That is

across the road from her office block.

Office Manager All right, Rhiannon, listen carefully. I want you to catch the lift to the 1st floor

and walk out into the mall. You will see the Post Office is on the other side of

the mall. Go to it then turn left and walk up 2 blocks to Sevenson St. The

restaurant we use is on the corner of the mall and Sevenson St.

Rhiannon So I do not go all the way to the ground floor in the lift?

Office Manager That’s right. If you did that you would walk out onto Main St and Moore’s is

opposite us across the street. That is not the way to go.

Rhiannon OK . I walk out from the lift on the 1st floor straight into the mall. I keep going

straight and I will see the Post office , right?

Office Manager Right

Rhiannon Then facing the Post Office I turn to MY left and walk two blocks. That means

I should be at the restaurant because it is one the corner of the Mall and

Sevenson ST. Is that right?

Draw a map of Rhiannon’s walk to the restaurant
