A form of internet marketing which seeks to achieve
branding and marketing communication goals through
the participation in various social media networks
(MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn), social bookmarking
(Digg, Stumbleupon), social media sharing
(Flickr, YouTube), review/ratings sites
(ePinions, BizRate), blogs, forums, news aggregators
and virtual 3D networks (SecondLife, ActiveWorlds).
Each social media site can be optimized to generate
awareness or traffic.

visits in January 2009.)

browsing profiles, photos, and
getting involved with like-minded
people through Groups.
FaceBook is a way for people
from the past to connect with you
and see what is going on in your
life.

Setting Up Your Account
Only show information you want
others to see . . .
Profile Page
The starting point for your presence on facebook. Convert
your “friends” to engage with certain parts of your identity.
It’s the place where you can most deeply and authentically
express your passion for the brand, company, or product you
want to promote.
One of the most common habits of Facebook users is browsing
the profile pages of friends and stalking the profile pages of
people they want to learn more about. By connecting to
hundreds of parters, customers, associates, and friends on
Facebook, you’ll drive a TON of traffic to your profile page.
Take advantage of that huge opportunity.
Your Status Please
Updating your status
Let people know about homes you recently listed.
Also let them know your going to your kid’s baseball
game. (You don’t want people to think you are only
here for business.)
Never update your status with something
inappropriate. (ex. Had bad experience with another
agent this week.)
Add links, video, or photos to your status.
Try to always add value!
Groups, Pages, and Events

way to build community
around your brand. Join
some and start one.

more customizable. This is
good, free viral marketing.
Anyone can use Events to
promote marketing

more.
When you create an event, it
gets a fully-featured

s, and links. You can invite all
of your friends to the event;
friends you invite will receive
a special notification
requesting their RSVP.
