Reintroduction of Funeral Services and Requiem Masses
“With immediate effect, Funeral Services or Requiem Masses will now be resumed
across the Diocese of Down and Connor, while observing the numbers attending to 10
mourners and observing social distancing regulations.
I pray that in the near future the time will come when we will be able to honour and pray
for all who have died and were laid to rest without the full participation of those who
have shouldered the pain of grief or loss in such unprecedented circumstances.”
Bishop Noel Treanor - 4th June 2020
Funding Appeal by SVP
The current situation with the Coronavirus pandemic is causing significant difficulty for many people
in many different ways. As this situation continues, the expectation is that increasing numbers of
people will face increasing financial difficulty. For this reason, and in the absence of church door
collections, the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul launched a National fundraising appeal to help deal
with the increase in the number of calls for help that are expected. Anyone wishing to contribute to
this appeal, to help the SVP Conferences in the Antrim Parish, can do so by leaving their donations at
the Parochial house at either St Joseph’s or St Comgall’s. A number of donations have already been
received from parishioners since the lockdown began and for these we extend our sincere thanks. We
thank you all for your continued support at this difficult time. Please keep well and stay safe
Collections: Some Parishioners have asked how they can make their contributions for the support of
the Parish. The simplest way is by Standing Order with your bank. Parish Bank details are as follows:
Account Title: Parish of Antrim
Sort Code: 95-02-02 Account Number: 41020498
Sacred Heart Novena - Thursday 11th June to Friday 19th June Bishop Martin Drennan wrote in the June issue of the Messenger;
“Devotion to the Sacred Heart urges us to ask the Lord to make our hearts like his, hearts filled with
compassion that seeks to understand all and forgive all. Filled with a compassion that brings freedom
and healing to others, a compassion that knows the present and future are in God’s hands. God is
enough and will always be enough. He who has a heart for us wants us to have a heart for him.”
If you are interested in praying the Novena, you will be able to find it on the Parish Facebook page
and the Parish website.
Thank you
To all parishioners who contributed to the collections by leaving envelopes through the door at
the parochial houses or by making a Standing Order with the bank. Since our last update there
was £4824 collected plus £3068 in Standing Orders for the month of May.
We know that some parishioners may not be in a position to give at this time and that is
understandable. However to all we thank you for your generosity, support, encouragement and
prayers.
St Comgall’s Church open for private prayer on:
Monday – Friday 6.30pm – 7.30pm
Saturday 12.30pm -1.30pm
Thank you to the stewards for doing a superb job.
The Most Holy Trinity

June 2020
We pray for the Church. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to give wisdom, understanding and
courage to the first disciples and charged them to go out and baptise people in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit .We pray for Pope Francis and for all those
who with him bring the words of Jesus to the four corners of the world,
Lord, hear us
We pray for our parish families who are still enduring the difficulties of living with the
effects of the virus especially those whose livelihood is threatened help us to be strong Lord
and to keep the rules that can prevent the virus from spreading to others
Lord, hear us
We pray for those who are sick with the virus that they will be restored to good health. We
pray for those who care for the sick at risk to themselves and for those who support them in
their work. May their work be blessed.
Lord, hear us
We pray for those who have the responsibility and the power to plan for the future return to
normality in schools, workplaces and all places where people gather in numbers. May they
consider the needs of people especially the most vulnerable in society.
Lord, hear us
We pray for those who have died recently and those whom we remember now on their
anniversaries.

Priest: Since we cannot come together let us join together spiritually to thank God for the
gift of life and for the many graces he grants us out of his love for us. We ask him to
remain close today as we honour the Blessed Trinity of one God, Father Son and Holy
Spirit
Priest: God our Father we offer these and all our prayers through Jesus your Son who
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God in the Blessed Trinity for ever and ever.
Amen.
