Snow SchoolThere is a lot of information to take in when your child starts Snow School here at Chill Factore, in order to make sure you have everything to hand and are able to take everything in, we have put together this handy guide to make it a little easier.

Page 2: Snow School - Chill Factore · • If a child becomes distressed during the lesson, the instructors will do their upmost to calm the child but the child may be removed from the session

Your child’s instructor will meet you and your child at the start of your lesson.

Please make sure you have your ticket ready to show the instructor and that your child has the following equipment:

• Bib (available from the instructor desk in the changing village)

• Helmet

• Skis/Snowboard and boots

• Sufficientwarmclothing(waterproofgloves are recommended).

Remember that a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast will help keep your child energised and active during their session. We also recommend that your child goes to the toilet prior to their session so that they can make the most of their time on the snow.

Once your child has gone out onto their lesson, we ask that you watch from the balcony overlooking the slope and not on the snow. This is to enable the group to progress in a safe and controlled manner without distraction from parents/carers and to ensure the maximum safety of all of our guests. This also means that if your child needs to come off the slope to go to the toilet or if they are distressed – we know where to find you.

Under certain circumstances we will allow the following to happen:

• Ifachildisdistressedaparent/carermaycomeoutontotheslopeforamaximumof 10 minutes at the start of the session

• If the child has settled during this time theparent/carershouldreturnbackinside(andmaybepromptedtodosobytheinstructors)

• If a child is still distressed after 10 minutes then the child will be asked to goinsidewiththeparent/carerorbetakenintoaparentbyamemberofstaff

• If a child becomes distressed during the lesson, the instructors will do their upmosttocalmthechildbutthechildmayberemovedfromthesessioniftheydo not settle.

We ask that you are at the snow exit door 5 minutes prior to your child’s lesson finish time to make sure there is someone there to collect your child. If the person picking up the child will be different from the person dropping them off, please make sure both your child and the instructor are clear about who is to pick them up. On the last week of the course, lessons may come off the snow 5 minutes early to allow for time for individual feedback and to give out certificates and stickers.

As with learning anything new, everyone will learn at different speeds, therefore it is to be expected that some children may have to repeat some stages during their snow school journey with us.

If you are coming back to snow school after a break of 6 months or more we recommend taking advice from either an instructor, call centre or guest services team member before booking your lesson to make sure your child is in the correct session and that they make the most of their time with us.

We try our best to keep consistent instructors on all kids snow school but this is not always possible, however, the content and high standard of teaching is consistent throughout.

Doyouknow… that your child can go to the same location or do the same activity 7 times and focus on something completely different each time? Repetition and practice is key!
