Definition of Snehana
The process of oleation of the body by using medicated oils and ghee externally and their consumption as well. Sneha refers to something that is soft, oily and lubricating like ghee, oil etc. and the process that is carried out using such sneha is called as snehana.

Definition of Abhyanga
Abhyanga is define as a procedure of anointing of oil on the body of the individual.

Definition of Lepa
Either Ardra dravyas or Sushka dravyas with water, are ground well and is made into a paste and are used for external application are called Lepas.
Indications of Lepa
Lepa cures pain & causes happiness and is also useful in Shodhana, sophahara, and ropana of vrana.

Definition of Udvartan
Udvartana is a process which helps to decrease kapha and fat makes the body strong & gives excellent, clear and complexion to the skin.

Definition of Mardan Unmardan
MARDAN - Application of extra heavy pressure to the body after local application of oil, abhyang, lepa, udvartan etc is called Mardan.
UNMARDAN - Its opposite i.e. lifting of the body part in the opposite direction is called Unmardan.
Indication of Mardan & Unmardan
• This is helpful for people with a tough body and heavy musculature. It helps in muscular tiredness, neural pain and bringing lightness to body.
Definition of Gandusha
Gandusha Mouth is filled with medicated decoctions at its maximum capacity. There is no space for rinsing of mouth. The medicated decoction is only held in mouth for some time and then spitted out. Kavala In this type, the quantity of decoction is small.

Persons who Above to undergo Sudation therapy or eliminatory procedure (Shodana therapy).
Those who are having Roughness in the skin. Those who are indulging in physical exercise, wine
& women.Those who suffer from mental strain.Those who are in old age.Those who are children .Those who are emaciated.
Contra-indication for Snehana Karma
Those persons who are fit to undergo Rookshna therapy.
Those whose body is having excusive aggravation of kapha and fat (meda).
Those digetion power is weak.Those who are suffering from thirst and fainting.The pregnant women .Those whose palate gets dried up.

COCONUT OIL

Erand Taila
Rasa – Madhura , Tikta , KatuVipak – Katu Veerya – Ushna Guna – Snigdha, Tikshna , Guru , SukshmaThis oil can be used as internally or externally
Iindication of Erand Tail
• Castor oil applied to the navel and lower abdomen relieves premenstrual pain
• Lactating mothers can apply castor oil in the breasts to enhance milk secretion
• Massaging oil on the head brings relief from headaches and provides a sound night's sleep.
• Castor oil prevents fungal infections of the foot.
Contraindication of Erand Oil
large doses of castor oil as purgative during early months of pregnancy may cause abortion.
Don’t use castor oil if you have a blocked intestine, unexplained stomach pain, or problems with your bile ducts or gall bladder.
The whole seed is unsafe to take by mouth. The outer coating (hull) of the castor seed contains a deadly poison. This outer coating can cause nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; abdominalpain; dehydration cell destruction; severe fluid and chemical disturbances; liver, kidney, and pancreas damage; and death.
SESAME OIL (TIL TAIL)
Uses of Seasame oil – treatment of many diseases and specially for the treatment of cholesterol , hypertension, nervousness
The sesame oil can be used in dry skin conditions. It increases the moistness of skin and help to make it soft and smooth. The oil has excellent wound healing properties. The hair growth increases when scalp is massaged regularly with this oil. It prevents hair loss, formation of dandruff, splitting of hair etc. It is used for massagingpatients who suffer from paralysis, body pain and pain in joints.
Contraindication – Sesame oil has laxative property so it should not be used in case of diarrhea
Bilva Tail

Indication of Bilva Tail
It is used in the treatment of ear pain, hearing loss / difficulties and tinnitus.
Contraindication of Bilva TailPregnancy and breast-feeding: Not
enough is known about the use of bilva during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
BHALLATAK TAIL
Rasa (taste) – Katu , Tikta , Kashaya Vipaka – Madhura Veerya – Ushna
Guna (qualities) – Laghu, Teekshna, SnigdhaTherapeutic uses of Bhallatak1. There is no Kapha imbalance disease, no
constipation, which can’t be cured by Bhallatak. It improves intelligence and promotes digestion.
2. All hemorrhoids can be well treated with Bhallataka.
KARANJA TAIL
Rasa – Tikta, KatuVeerya – UshnaVipak – KatuGuna – Laghu & TikshnaKaranja Tail benefits:It is used in the treatment of herpes, boils,
abscesses and eczema.Side effects:This oil should not be used in children and
pregnant women.
TIKTA GHEE (herbalized ghee)
In proper amounts, Ghee increases the strength of the digestive agnis, while decreasing the heat and inflammation due to excess pita. It reduces excess acidity both in the digestive tract and in the tissues, pacifies vata and softens and lubricates the tissues and joints.
VASA and MAJJA
VASA (Animal Fat) and MAJJA (Bone Marrow) are also used in the internal oleation. However, these oils are heavy and difficult to digest, and they can produce excess kapha and ama if a patient's digestive agni is weak..
Their use contraindicated only for specific disorders such as Leukemia and several other types of Cancer, as well as certain degenerative disease conditions likeMyopathy
Generally the sneha will be administrated to an adult in the following dosages :
1. First day : 2 ounce (5 tolas)2. Second day : 3 ounce (7.5 tolas)3. Third day : 4 ounce (10 tolas)4. Fourth day : 6 ounce (15 tolas)5. Fifth day : 8 ounce (20 tolas)6. Sixth day : 10 ounce (25 tolas)7. Seventh day : 12 ounce (30 tolas)
The dosages of Sneha must be adjusted according the digestive capacity of the patient .
