    Operation Finally HomeOperation Finally Home (formerly called BABA Support Our Troops Inc.) got

    its start back in 2005, when a group of custom home builders from the bay

    area, the BABA board of directors, and local suppliers teamed up to assist

    Lance Corporal Steven Schultz and his family. Schultz returned home from Iraq

    severely wounded and unable to walk or care for himself. And with that project,

    BABASOTI was born. Since that time, BABASOTI has built seven homes and has

    five more already under in progressat no cost to the familiesfor injured

    veterans. These homes are built through volunteer contributions and donations

    of labor and supplies from members just like you. Operation Finally Home plans

    to continue this project until there is no longer a need.

    Benefit Homes ProjectIt was 31 years ago when the Greater Houston Builders Association board of

    directors envisioned a charitable project that would bring the generosity of

    GHBA builder, developer and associate members together to give back to the

    Houston community. After careful and thoughtful planning, the GHBA formed

    the Benefit Homes Project and the mission became: To ensure a brighter

    future for the communitys less fortunate, through the heart and hands of the

    homebuilding industry. The goal was to do what the GHBA members do best,

    to build quality homes that are sold at market value for a profit. The majority of

    that profit would be donated to charity.

    How does it work? Each year, two builders and two developers team up

    to construct two homes. The developers donate the lots and the builders

    orchestrate the construction. It could not come together without the building

    industry vendors who donate time, labor, and materials. The two homes are

    local charities.

    Over the life of this program, the GHBA has donated more than $6 million to local

    charities. Currently the Benefit Homes Project distributes the majority of the

    proceeds to the Alzheimers Association, Texas Childrens Cancer & Hematology

    Center and HomeAid Houston. In 2011 Newmark Homes also gave $30,000 to

    the Houston 100 Club from the proceeds of their Benefit Home.

    GHBA would like to thank our 2011 Benefit Home team of Newmark Homes

    and Caldwell Companies for their beautiful Benefit Home built in Towne Lake.

    We would also like to thank David Weekley Homes and The Howard Hughes

    Corporation - Bridgeland, LP for teaming up on the second 2011 Benefit Home

    in Bridgeland.

    Thank you to all the builders, developers and vendors who have worked with

    the Benefit Homes Project over the past 31 years for their commitment to the

    Houston community. Through their hard work and thoughtful donations more

    men, women and children have a better quality of life.

    HomeAid HoustonHomelessness is not a choice. Its not an identity. It is not a failure

    to work. It is a circumstance. And it is ongoing and growing.

    HomeAid Houston, a 501(c)3 charity sponsored by the Greater

    Houston Builders Association, identifies long term, stable

    homeless care providers who need additional capacity and pairs

    them with GHBA builders, vendors and suppliers who donate

    their time, materials and labor to help build transitional homeless shelters.

    Now in its eighth year, HomeAid Houston, along with its Builder Partners and

    many vendor donors, has added more than 400 beds to the local community.Besides member donations, several annual events help raise funds, including

    the HomeAid Houston Golf Tournament held in April, and Project Playhouse

    in the summer. For more information on how you can get involved, visit

    Operation FINALLY HOMEFormerly known as BABA Support Our Troops, this project builds homes for

    severely wounded U.S. Servicemen.
