Plumbing InstallationThis publication is one of a series designedto assist qualified tradepersons in fixingmaterials to steel framed houses. Thefollowing procedures are a guide only andall fixings must be in accordance withmanufacturers’ specifications.
WATER PIPES Piping is installed through service holes provided in studs and wall plates.Plumbing grommets must be inserted in service holes before water pipes areinstalled. Grommets prevent noise from water hammer and isolate copper pipesfrom the steel frame. When using plastic pipes use electrical grommets.
Plumbing Fittings Plumbing fittings and associated components are fitted to timber noggingsinstalled by the plumber. Plumbing noggings used on Boxed Stud systems are tobe a maximum 20mm thick.
Where copper piping is fixed directly to steel frames it must insulated from thecoated steel members.
Note:
CCA treated timbers are corrosive to steel. Do not fix in direct contact with steelframes.
The use of oxyacetylene requires care so as not to deform and strip coating fromsteel framework.
Caution:
Saddle Use nylon saddles when fixing copper or PVC piping to steel frames.
