Introduction

Skinput is named because it uses the human skin.

Skinput, is a sensor system.

This technology uses the screen as the tracking surface or the unique input device

Page 5: Skinput technology

What is Skinput

• Giving input through our skin

• Thus we can use our own skin as input canvas.

• Developed by Chris Harrison(Mellon university), Microsoft research.

• Turns the body into a touch-screen interface.

Principals of Skinput

• It listen to vibrations in our body

• Skinput uses a series of sensors to track where a user tapes on his arm.

• Provide an always available mobile input system.

• The arm is an instrument.

Touch screen vs. Skinput Technology

• Needs visual assistance. • visual assistance is not needed.

Page 8: Skinput technology

How it works

• It needs Bluetooth connection.

• It uses a microchip-sized Pico projector to display menu.

• An acoustic detector to detect sound vibrations.

Skin interface

• The three input location sets evaluated in the study.

Steps

• Projector display mage on arm finger tap on arm

vibrations produce and

through bones onto skin

Passed

Electronic signals produced then detected by detector in

armband in the form of music

etc

Advantages

1. Don’t need any Keyboard.

2. Don’t need any Keyword.

3. Provide interactive play expertise.

4. Provide straightforward navigation by providing giant buttons.

5. Arm acts as an Instrument.

6. Respond to numerous Hand Gestures.

7. Easy to access in absence of Mobile.

Disadvantages

• Individuals with visible disabilities cannot use this product.

• The arm band is currently bulky.

• Provide solely five buttons.

• The visibility of the projection of the buttons on the skin can be reduced if the user has a tattoo located on their arm.

• If the user has more than a 30% Body Mass Index Skinput is reduced to 80% accuracy.

• The easy accessibility will cause people to be more socially detracted.

Applications

• I pods, Gaming, Mobile, Simple browser systems .

• The Skinput system could display an image of a digital keyboard on a person's forearm.

• Using Skinput, someone could send text messages by tapping his or her arm in certain places.

• While walking and jogging, we can listen to music.

Future Skinput

Research is going on to-

Make armband smaller

Incorporate more devices

Extend accuracy level

Page 17: Skinput technology

Conclusion

• This system performs very well even if the body is in motion.

• In the future your hand could be your I Phone and your handset could be watch sized on your wrist.
