DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
UPDATE: July 2020
Well it certainly has been a year full of unusual and challenging circumstances. We have had enormous ups and downs and never could we have imagined in January all that we have had to face so far in 2020! This information pack is normally written and finalised in December of the year before our season starts, so to be sitting down again and looking at revising our whole competitive season is definitely a new thing!
In 2020, like many businesses in our country Sirens was forced to close its doors in March to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. We took our whole program online and whilst it was not normally the way we like to do things I was very proud (and grateful) that our coaches, families and athletes embraced it and forged ahead. We stayed connected, fit and healthy. We set goals and moved ahead with choreography, did team building exercises and made the most of a difficult situation. Never have our club values of positivity, commitment, enthusiasm and supportiveness been more apparent. Sirens has a strong family focus and that family has certainly proved their STRENGTH this year!!! All that aside, after 3 months of shut doors we were immensely happy to be back in the gym in mid June and doing what we love.
Included in this pack is the new revised 2020 competitive schedule and calendar. It is current as of 14 July 2020 and based on information from event providers we have available at the time. COVID-19 is a fluid situation and restrictions and government regulations are changing on a daily basis so some sensible planning needs to take place to allow for changes. Please, when booking accommodation only book with the option to cancel at no cost. Sirens will notify families as soon as any changes are made available however we are reliant on the event providers themselves to distribute the information.
Our competitive season is going to be like no other!! We have the option for virtual competitions and live competitions with many changes, the likes of which we have never seen before. This gives our athletes new opportunities to experience and challenges to overcome. We have proven ourselves to be adaptable and able to rise to challenges positively and successfully so however the year pans out I am confident Sirens will smash it!
😊 Belinda

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
Thank you for considering joining the Sirens Cheerleaders family in 2020. Our primary mission is to create a positive, supportive and safe environment where athletes can learn the sport of cheerleading, tumbling and dance and develop their athleticism and personal skills such as confidence, resilience, teamwork and discipline.
Sirens Cheerleaders was founded with a strong focus on culture, to ensure our success in growing many happy, healthy athletes in a great atmosphere. Every member of our family is expected to adopt and espouse our four values: positivity, supportiveness, enthusiasm and commitment, so everybody can enjoy our wonderful sport and make Sirens Cheerleaders their home.
In 2020 we will continue our successful focus on ‘quality’. Our competitive teams are level-appropriate, our coaches experienced, extremely dedicated and fully accredited. With over 60 years of combined coaching experience, we offer a wealth of experience to all our athletes. We maintain and expect high standards for ourselves and our club.
In addition to our highly successful competitive and semi-competitive program, we also have an extensive recreational program and we have a variety of options available to choose from. We welcome all newcomers and love seeing new people in our gym.
In January 2020 we are proud and excited to be moving to a brand new gym with much more room and even better facilities! We will have 2 fully sprung floors, a dance area, a 12m tumble trampoline, reception area, athlete breakout areas and more!
For enquiries please email me or Sirens Admin Officer, Megan and we will be happy to help. This pack will help you decide whether you would like to join us as a recreational, semi-competitive or competitive athlete.
Sirens Cheerleaders is on an amazing journey with skilled and fun teams, safe progressions and huge success at competitions around Australia. We are the only ACT cheer program to take athletes to multiple overseas competitions. In 2019 we won 4 bids and competed four times, at the prestigious bid-only ‘AASCF Australasian Pinnacle’ competition. We gained 5 AASCF National Champion titles and 9 out of the 10 cheer teams we sent to Nationals placed in the top 4
competing against the best cheer clubs in the country.
As gym owner, I am never too busy to take your call or answer any questions and love getting to know all our Sirens families and I would love to meet new families who share our values and would like to join in the fun.

3. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND AGE CATEGORIES
Our gym has fully sprung floors, tumble trampoline and other specialised equipment for cheerleading,
tumbling and gymnastics.
COMPETITIVE CHEER:
Involves learning a fast-paced routine set to music, incorporating motions, dance, tumbling, jumps, stunts and pyramids. Competitive teams require serious commitment, the expectations are high and placement is via team placements or personal consultation with the Gym Owner. You must be available for all
competitions and attendance at weekly trainings is compulsory.
We pride ourselves on high quality coaching and creating competitive, skilled, committed and happy
athletes. As such our expectations for our competitive athletes reflect this. Competitive cheer teams train two to three times weekly with an additional specialized tumbling class recommended. Dance teams and adult cheer teams train once weekly. These teams compete at several local and interstate competitions
including NSW competitions and AASCF Nationals at the Gold Coast.
Age groups and teams will be dependent on 2020 enrolments – all ages.
SEMI-COMPETITIVE CHEER:
This program allows athletes to get a taste of cheerleading and all the excitement it has to offer with only once a week training sessions (or two shorter sessions for tiny and mini age group) and 3 competitions per year (2 local, one in Sydney). Athletes get all our expert tuition from our qualified and enthusiastic coaches
as well as learn and master the cheer techniques of stunting and tumbling without the training and travel commitment level of a full competitive schedule. This is great for athletes and families that want more than a recreational class without the added training sessions. Age groups/teams will be dependent on
enrolments, 7-18yrs.
RISING STARS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CHEERSPORT) New to Sirens in 2020 and provides new and current athletes with an added option to enjoy the sport they love. These teams are competitive however the scorecard has been modified and the grading scale is
different to all-star cheerleading. The time commitment is significantly less than all-star cheer so it can be enjoyed as an added extra for our competitive cheerleaders who want to do more and increase their skills and also as a new low time commitment option new for families. Placement is via consultation and
assessment so contact us for more information!
RECREATIONAL CHEER Learn the basics of this exciting sport without the pressure of competition. This class is great if you want to get strong, fit and more flexible with a program tailored to cheerleading technique. This class is
recommended for new athletes looking to get a head-start on the next season or if you prefer not to commit to a competitive squad and just want to have some fun, get strong and fit with no attendance
requirements!
• Tiny Rec: Tiny Recreational cheer 4-6 years (3-year-olds by invitation only)
• Mini : 5-8yrs
• Youth : 6-12yrs
• Junior Rec : 7-15 years

WEEKDAY PROGRAM – TINY TOTS TUMBLE; KINDY GYMNASTICS
A weekday recreational gymnastics based program designed for children aged 1 to 6 years. Children learn
gymnastics skills, improve their gross motor skills and develop social skills. Watch your child grow in
confidence as they learn to jump, balance, swing, skip, climb, throw and spin. We use music, themes and
circuits to develop children's strength and coordination in a fun and safe environment. Coach Nicci is a fully
qualified gymnastics and cheerleading coach with many years coaching experience.
RECREATIONAL GYMNASTICS: Learn the fundamentals of gymnastics. Floor, beam, bars and vault

and more!
Tumbling classes are also open to non-Sirens athletes who wish to develop acrobatic skills for other sports like dance and skipping. Please note there are pre-requisites for each level class. Athletes unable to display
the minimum skills at their first class will be moved to a class appropriate to their skill level.
BOYS URBAN PLAYGROUND: Bounce, roll, jump, flip, tumble and run. This class is ideal for active boys
to burn energy, get strong and have fun doing the cool things they love to do!

DESCRIPTION OF COMPS FOR 2020:
Virtual Competitions: Each provider has slightly different rules and methods however the major points are
the same:- These events will be filmed from our gym and submitted to the competition providers. This will take
place a few weeks before the competition live stream. The routines will be judged in normal format by normal
judges just as if they were live and be subject to the same protocols as a normal “live” competitions. Clubs will
be notified of any legalities and will be able to challenge etc just like a normal comp and then on the date
advertised the whole competition will be live streamed and the awards and results live streamed. Every family
will receive a once only link to watch the livestream OR depending on restrictions in our state we may have a
viewing at the gym or something similar. This means that there is a date for the viewing AND a date where
athletes are required to perform their routine for the filming. The filming date is COMPULSORY.
Live Competitions: These will take place as normal like any other year. Athletes are required to be at the
event and are responsible for their own travel arrangements. There may be alterations to spectator viewings
and other social distancing requirements which we will be notified of in due course.
Competition Fees: These will be invoiced separately (unlike normal years where they are included in term
fees) and will need to be paid in full by the due date for athletes to be entered.
IMPORTANT: Filming for the Cheercon and Aussie Gold Virtual comps will be SUNDAY 27 Sept which is the
first Sunday of the school holidays. This involves nearly the whole Sirens program so please organise holiday

I permit my images to be used in Sirens Cheerleaders marketing.
SIRENS SHOW COMMITMENT FINANCIALLY
I will pay invoices on time and communicate with the Admin Officer, before the due date, if I have difficulties in paying fees.
I understand Ezidebit charges a $9 fee for dishonoured direct debit payments.
I understand invoice adjustments are granted only where a medical certificate is produced and classes need to be altered for longer than 2 weeks.
I understand private class ‘no shows’ and cancellations within 24 hours will incur the full fee.
I understand I will not be allowed to participate in class if my fees are overdue and a payment plan has not been arranged.
SIRENS ARE SUPPORTIVE AND POSITIVE
I will show respect to myself and my Sirens Cheerleaders family at all times.
I will represent Sirens Cheerleaders to the best of my ability by displaying the values: positive, supportive, enthusiastic and committed.
I will not gossip or bully others and I will ask for help from any coach if I feel bullied.
I will inform staff at an appropriate time if I have concerns or ideas.
I will refrain from negative ‘sideline talk’.
I am committed to my squad and will practice as required.
I will not interrupt coaches or distract athletes during training sessions.
I will arrive early for training and events and ensure I am collected on time.
I understand spectators are not allowed (exception: new athlete’s first class, Toddler class parents, the first and last 5 minutes of each class, and during week 7 of each term).
I understand that routine choreography, athlete positions and roles and coaching are up to the coach and gym owner and are not open for discussion and I will communicate with the gym owner if I disagree on any of the above.
I will sign up to the email list (on Register page) and read emails. Please check your ‘junk’ folder.
Please contact the Gym Owner [email protected] or Admin Officer: [email protected] for all queries

2020 SIRENS COMPETITIVE ATHLETE AGREEMENT Athlete Name __________________________ Signed (parent if under 18yrs)_______________________ Date__________
At Sirens it is very important to us that our athletes to have the best opportunities to be successful and to be happy and valued in their teams. Our competitive squad rules are very important and we have high standards. If you feel unsure about meeting these standards please talk to us. We have many options available to suit all levels of commitment. It is important that you are in the right place according to your needs and the team’s needs.
Failure to comply with the rules may result in the removal from our competitive program.
PARTICIPATION
Class is not to be missed unless approval is given from the Gym Owner (minimum two weeks notice). Acceptable reasons include exams and work
travel, not birthdays.
You are only permitted to miss a class at late notice if you are unable to commute to class due to illness or injury or are at risk of infecting others (or unavoidable car problem etc). In this instance please text Belinda 0410 561 579 and provide a medical certificate to [email protected]
within two days.
If you are ill or injured you are expected to observe all trainings to remain familiar with choreography, keep up-to-date with routine changes and
to encourage teammates. You are expected to ‘catch-up’ in your own time.
You are expected to be prepared to train hard every class: arriving early ready to step on the floor on time, having been to the toilet, hair tied back, all jewellery out, nails short, shoes on, hydrated, having eaten something healthy and sufficient to fuel you for the class, well rested, and
with your best attitude for your team.
Competitive athletes are not to train with other All Star programs unless approved by Gym Owner (grounds for dismissal from program).
Wherever and whenever possible Sirens do not make changes to our calendar however on the odd times that this becomes necessary it is
expected that all efforts will be made to comply.
UNIFORM
Uniforms must be ordered and paid for by 28 March (or by the due date according to the invoice) to enable you to compete.
Competitive athletes are expected to wear Sirens training gear to every training. Plain black tights are also acceptable
Full competition uniform must be worn correctly at all competitions (including presentations) and designated events. This includes hair/makeup
and shoes. Jackets/tees are not allowed during presentations unless directed.
Athletes are expected to follow the cover up rule at competition and wear their Sirens tee over their uniform.
COMPETITIONS
You must commit to all scheduled 2020 competitions and other whole squad performances for your offered team to accept a place on a semi or
competitive team.(see the information pack) If you are unable to attend a competition or will be missing several training sessions please talk to
the gym owner directly.
Competition entry fees are payable throughout the year and must be paid on time in addition to term fees. These are non-refundable even if you
do not compete due to injury or are removed for not following the rules e.g. poor attendance or behaviour.
If you are running late to, or cannot attend an event, please call/text Belinda or your coach as soon as possible, and provide the reason.
Training in the 2 weeks leading up to a competition must not be missed. If you miss these trainings, understand your position on the team may be changed for the approaching competition or you may be unable to compete. Please take note of the travel days for Nationals in 2020. Training is
ON up to and including Tuesday 24 November.
PARENTS
Please do not withhold a child from training (or competition) as a form of punishment. You are not only punishing your child but every other team member. Missed training due to other sporting commitments is not acceptable so please consider carefully your choice to participate in competitive
cheerleading.
For athletes under the age of 18 it is very important that parents are also committed to the expectations of our competitive teams. Please ensure you
do everything you can to support them in adhering to the rules for our competitive program.
INJURY
If you have an injury or condition which prevents you from participating in more than one training session we require you to seek medical attention to
obtain an accurate diagnosis and a medical certificate for our records and a rehab and recovery plan. This is so we are aware of your limitations, the
time required to recover, and we can ensure you are best taken care of for recovery. Please understand we may need to implement an alternate plan if
you are unable to train so the team can continue to train. While we appreciate athletes placing their team first, nothing comes before your safety and a
healthcare professional must provide clearance, not the athlete/parent/coach.
