Objective The anchor handling familiarisation course is designed to provide training for ratings assigned specific duties and responsibilities relating to anchor handling and towing operations on board anchor handling vessels. Participants Integrated Ratings, TIRs and PIRs entering the offshore sector. The course is most suited to those with no or little experience in the offshore operations. Course Content Course participants completing this course will assimilate theoretical knowledge and gain practical skills to support a range of offshore anchor handling and towing operations. The course covers the following aspects: Equipment, including wires, shackles, links and tools used in anchor handling. Anchor handling vessel layouts, winch configurations and deck equipment. Overview of anchor handling operations, from shallow water to deep water, prelays and suitcase buoy systems. Decking anchors, altering fluke angles and anchor inspections. Towing rigs, barges, and towline configurations. Wire stoppers/sharks jaws, use and care of towing pins and jaws. Offshore specific regulation – AMSA. Risk assessment processes and risk management tools. Chain handling. Perform anchor handling and towing duties in the simulator. Conduct after action peer review of simulation cases/feedback Course Pre-requisites Participants to hold, or be undertaking training to achieve, a Certificate of Proficiency as Integrated Rating, or equivalent. Participants may benefit from having some previous offshore experience. Other industry personnel will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Offshore Simulation Centre staff is available to discuss the relevance and value of the course to your situation. Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements There are no specific LL&N requirements for this course. The course is delivered in English. Assessment & Competency Achievement There is no formal assessment carried out at the completion of the course. 100% attendance and participation in the course is required. Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Training on completion of the course. Course Duration 3 Days: Day 1 8:30am to 4:30pm

Day 2 8:30am to 4:30pm Day 3 8:30am to 3:00pm Number of Participants Minimum 4 participants Maximum 8 participants

Course Fee and Additional Service Costs $3,058.00 ($2,780.00 + GST) This course fee includes lunch, and morning and afternoon tea at the center. Terms and Conditions of Enrolment Course participants are required to agree with the Term and Conditions of enrolment. These terms and conditions are available on request from Farstad Shipping Offshore Simulation Centre staff.
