Contracted on behalf of the Commonwealth Government to provide a free service to:
• Employers• Prospective Apprentices and Trainees
• Complete all Government Paperwork
• Process Incentive Payments
Role of Australian Apprenticeships Centre
• Australian Apprenticeships are a means of gaining a Nationally Recognised Qualification through a combination of work experience and formal training. They are often entry level qualifications for school students.
• Available to anyone of working age.
• Can be a school student, school-leaver, a person re-entering the workforce or simply someone wishing to change careers.
What are Australian Apprenticeships?
What industries have Australian Apprenticeships?
• Australian Apprenticeships are available in a variety of certificate levels in more than 500 occupations across Australia. These occupations include traditional trades and a diverse range of emerging careers in most sectors of business and industry.
• Apprenticeships normally take between 3 and 4 years full time or 6 to 8 years school based and are trade related (must have a qualified Supervisor). Apprentices will convert after school to permanent part time or full time employment.
• Traineeships normally take between 1 and 2 years full time or between 2 and 4 years school based. They can be completed when a school student.
• Both Apprenticeships and Traineeships are competency based and may be completed earlier than the nominal time.

• Work for your employer while undertaking a Nationally Recognised Qualification and completing school – Earning and Leaning
• A great way to get a head start in a chosen career
• Contribute points towards Queensland Certificate of Education
• Government Funding – Commonwealth and State
School Based Australian Apprenticeships
• Available for OP eligible and non OP students.
• Minimum of 48 days paid employment over 12 months. Work hours may be flexible and dependent on employer requirements.
• Off the job theory training, could include block training or flexible delivery (workbooks/online).
• School Based Australian Apprenticeship must impact on school timetable.
• Part Time may not impact on timetable and a minimum of 15 hours per week work.
• A Legally Binding document signed by the Employer, the Australian Apprentice and the Parent/Guardian
• Probation – 30 days (traineeship), 90 days (apprenticeship) from nominal start date on the training contract
• Uphold work responsibilities and training responsibilities
