The system will help to assess and monitor children suffering from a wide range of breathing disorders including Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and other life-threatening debilitating respiratory illnesses. Head Resourcing organised a Decathlon of events with funds raised going towards the system and managed to raise over £8,000 over the course of a month. We are most grateful to them, the guests at our Girly Get Together and everyone else who contributed to this piece of equipment. Our next project is to raise £31,000 to fund a unique position at the hospital, the first of its kind in the UK. By funding such a post, children and families will receive support when there is a facial disfigurement. This may be due to burns, cleft lip and palette, plastic surgery or a dermatological problem. The Changing Faces practitioner will support the family through difficult times and decisions; in some cases surgery is the initial preferred option of families, but sometimes with support from the practitioner there is no need for such drastic action. Working together, strategies for coping with the difficulties which such conditions give rise to can be worked out. For more information on this and all our other current projects, please visit our website or get in touch with Will directly; his contact details are on page 4. NEXT PROJECT - NEXT PROJECT - CHANGING FACES CHANGING FACES To mark the exciting occasion of our 20th Anniversary, we are planning a series of thrilling events designed to suit all audiences and which we hope you will want to get involved in. Our next events are: Ladies Lunch at The Balmoral - 20th April Teddy Toddle and Summer Fair at Meadowbank - 16th June Please visit the events pages of our website for details of these and other events. Alternatively, if you’re not able to attend these events but want to get involved, why not organise your own event, for which we would be delighted to give assistance as necessary. Could you for example get 20 colleagues together to organise your own fundraising challenge to raise £2,000, or even £20,000 over the course of a year! Or why not tie in with the Olympics as a sporting theme as one team of employees from RBS has done to fundraise for us. As this goes to press, the team of 6 are attempting to cumulatively cycle 2012 miles before the Olympics, and with the target of raising £2,012; I look forward to updating you on their progress shortly. We are also always looking for new locations to take a collecting tin or to display posters advertising our forthcoming events. Join us as we celebrate 20 years of helping sick children and their families. CELEBRATIONS ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS 20th 20th

Charity of the Year...Charity of the Year... It was wonderful to be able to work with so many companies in the form of Charity of the year partnerships last year and we are so grateful for all the hard work and energy that everyone dedicated towards fundraising for us.

A Sky dive, the Great Scottish Run, pamper evenings, dress down days, cake sales and a bake off, a big summer raffl e and christmas raffl e, a “Harry Potter” cinema evening, a chocolate fountain, a clothing bank and lots more, all of which raised over £11,000 in total.which raised over £11,000 in total.

Susan Wilcock, Head of Brand and Marketing Media, said: 'It's impressive that our employees have dug deep and put an immense amount of work into ensuring another successful year of fundraising activity. AEGON is pleased to match the amount raised by their hard effort.'

Dress down days, raffl es, fairs, a bring and buy sale, ‘Payroll Pennies’ and lots more all contributed to the £17,000 raised by AEGON in 2011.

Edinburgh employees within Lloyds Banking Group Audit department so enjoyed their year working with us that very kindly they chose to support us for a further 12 months. We’re overjoyed to be working with them again, not least because it allows us to further build and plan our activities to the benefi t of both parties. Here’s what they had to say about the partnership in 2011:

"The Sick Kids Foundation makes supporting this charity seem 'easy and effortless', the fact that we were allocated a local representative (Will Guest) means that we are regularly updated with upcoming events, initiatives and new fundraising ideas which really encourage us to get further involved.

Will took the time to establish the goals of our business area to help build a mutually benefi cial relationship where it was not only about delivering the desired benefi ts for the charity but also ensured that we were able to achieve our own goals from a morale and team building perspective."
