    Dear Frank:

Do you remember how much fun you had playing in your local park as a child?

I remember hot summer days playing with friends in my local park until the streetlights came on.

Our parents saw us at lunch and dinner since we preferred to spend as much of our summer vacationoutside as possible. I can still remember my mother calling out our front door for me to come home.

Forest/Terrace Heights Community League wants to help create those same memories for

children in our community. Children deserve safe spaces to play, grow, and make friends in their

neighbourhood. As you know, friendships forged in the playground often last a lifetime. So do the

    memories.

As a local business owner, you may have noticed the construction last summer at the park next to ourcommunity hall. The Mary Finlay Park Revitalization Project completed its first phase of

construction last fall with the installation of a new spray deck with forest-themed water features.

Forest/Terrace Heights Community League and its volunteers raised over $250,000 through

grants and individual donations to replace the aging wading pool with a state-of-the-art spray deck.

Ive seen many excited local kids examining the water features this winter, anticipating the first days

of summer even in the midst of snow! Were eagerly looking forward to the spray deck grand

opening this summer and wed love to have you join us for the celebration!

This spring, we will be breaking ground for Phase 2 of The Mary Finlay Park Revitalization

Project. Phase 2 will see the installation of new and safer play structures, a large gazebo, games

tables, an outdoor volleyball court, and landscaping which will both beautify the neighbourhood and

create spaces for relaxation. The total cost of Phase 2 is $475,000, of which weve raised $350,000

through provincial and municipal grants. Were counting on local business owners like you to help

us reach our fundraising goal. If we can raise $125,000 by April 15, 2012, we can ensure that all the

park features included in the original design will be installed. At our annual Harvest Fest last

September, the drawings were on display for the public and I can tell you that you could feel the

excitement in the air! Frank, you can make these dreams a reality and be part of our communitys

    history.

With the help of the City of Edmonton architect and planner, weve designed a Walk of Fame which

will honour all our major donors contributions to The Mary Finlay Park Revitalization Project.

This walkway through the park will incorporate bricks with each donors name and one of four

contribution levels. We invite you to purchase a brick to commemorate your investment in the young

(and the young at heart!) in your community.

    Visionary ($5,000+)

    Champion ($1,000 to $4,999)

    Supporter ($500 to $999)

    Friend ($100 to $499)

If you believe in the fostering community spirit, bringing neighbours together, and creating spaces

where kids can be kids, please join us on our Walk of Fame and donate to The Mary Finlay ParkRevitalization Project.

    Thank you,

    Chris Wilson

    President
