HISTORY

7innovationideal standard brings together a special collection of products representing the highest quality design and the latest technology and engineering from across europe. each piece, only available from selected retailers, is the culmination of a lengthy design process involving many award-winning designers providing excellence in form and function. ideal standard has been

commissioning renowned designers such as Jasper morrison, franco Bertoli, david Chipperfied and robin levien rdi to design bathroom porcelain, taps and mixers for many years. more recently, other international designers have produced collections for ideal standard including Cornelia thies and ArtefAkt.

Ceramic Disc technology the revolutionary ceramic disc valve which has proved over the years to be the best and most reliable way of controlling water flow – without drips – was developed by ideal standard. this invention paved the way for innovative ranges of smooth operating single lever taps which can control both water flow and temperature with a single movement.

Ideal Waste System our ingenious collection of Connect baths have a lower step-in height (only 48 cm) designed to be easily accessible for everyone, particularly children and the elderly, whilst utilising the same amount of water. Connect features the ideal Waste system, a low waste outlet that reduces the space underneath the bath.

Dual flush Because you don’t always need a full flush, all close coupled WC suites have dual flush cisterns. A long flush push button delivers six litres of water and a short flush button three litres. on average, a dual flush ensures 40% water-savings if the short flush is used four out of five times a day per person.

Matteo Baroni & Fabio ValerianiBaroni and valeriani joined forces to create a design and architectural firm in 1997. their internationally acclaimed work focuses on rational, clean lines and varies from ultramodern industrial design to vatican state buildings.

ArtefAkt was founded in 1989 by thomas fiegl and Achim pohl and works in close cooperation with the international industry. the design team, comprised of up to 12 designers, develops product lines within an overall development process.

milan-based designer ronen Joseph began his career with the creation of the merone modern Art museum, and since founding rJd studio he has continued to push the boundaries of artistic directions and complex design techniques.

franco Bertoli is an architect/designer who has been collaborating with ideal standard since 1984. his milan studio is dedicated to innovation, conception and communication and in 1998 received the Adi design index award for small, the first ideal standard collection designed specifically for limited spaces.

The most important issue, particularly for built-in installations, is to ensure that the brickwork is well sealed against water and dampness. When showering, no water should penetrate the wall e.g. through the gaps between the tiles. Therefore, the relatively large openings in the wall which hold the built-in unit’s technology must be particularly well sealed.
