Research - Shows• There are a lot of different types of shows and many

different ways in which people can produce them and distribute them. For example, street performances, theatre shows, standup comedy, live gigs, art exhibitions and cinema showings.

- Street performances allow a lot of freedom, as long as they have managed to get the permission to perform in public, they can do almost anything that they want. These performance can range from musical acts, to mime acts.

- Theatre shows, however, do not allow as much freedom, as these acts are set plays which authors have written and they are perform to the directors needs.

- Standup comedy is quite similar as they have plenty of freedom with what they say but of course the type of performance is restricted to comedy and obviously made to entertain a wide variety of people. (Dilian Moran)

- Other types of shows include; Live gigs- Art exhibitions- Cinema showings

• I started by looking at ‘Grange Hill’ and ‘Inbetweeners’ opening credits because they are of a similar genre to the webseries we are creating.

Research - Webshows• ‘The Guild’ was one of the

online tv shows which I looked at and this was aimed young teens but also people who take a high interest in online gaming.

• Looking a shows such as these helped me a lot to see what sort of rules we had to follow and what we had to produce to keep people interested. We knew that we had to keep teens interested so the humour had to be aimed at people of that age.

Blog

• I have kept a blog throughout this project and this has really helped to keep track of what I am producing and how it is all going.

• This was also a good way to distribute our work - as we had a link to this site on our Facebook page we had set up - that then meant fans could see what the progress of the show was up to.

Jobs and our Teams• Beginning of project making two separate teams, which

then produced two different webseries

• Having group meetings which included deciding which roles that we thought were needed and who we thought would be best suited for each one.

• The jobs which we thought were needed were; Director, editor, sound, camera, titles and credits, casting, treasurer, writers, marketing and websites.

My Role • I was the production manager for

the team and I also worked with sound editing and some marketing.

• My marketing role disappeared as others took over and my production manager role increased.

• My production role was quite big, as I produced all of forms for the production - for example, the model release forms and the shoot forms. This was very important as we needed them before we could shoot anything.

Planning• When planning James did most of the script

planning but I planned a lot of the scheules using Facebook. I made events which appeared on there and kept everyone up to date on what was going on with the webseries.

First Episode• Our first episode started off with a

basic idea of a group of students in Detention.

• Once we had developed the characters, we then gathered more of a detailed idea. Each character has a certain personality and this made them do things in each episode.

• I think that we spent too much time planning this episode and developing the characters, this then meant that we had less time to film and I think that it was slightly rushed.

Response - Episode One• Our first episode managed to get

the most negative feedback and I think that this was because it was badly planned.

• We used Facebook to record more of feedback as audience members were commenting on page that we had set up. This was useful as they were commenting as we uploaded new episodes.

• As the episodes were uploaded we posted comments on the Facebook page requesting if anyone had any opinions on the episode.

Second and Third Episode

• The planning of these episodes was quite similar to the first one. Starting with writing the script and we planned to use equal time on the planning the script and the shoot. This was our fault with the first episode.

• As we have been working on the episode I have been posting updates on Facebook page to let fans know of what is coming up.

• I think that these episode were planned a lot better and therefore were getting better feedback.

Measuring Feedback • Our feedback was generally measured on Facebook and then recorded on

Blogger. However, when logging into our Vimeo account, they have a table under the video which shows us our statistics. This helped us to see how many views we were getting and how popular each episode was.

• Our episode seemed to get popular around then second episode and the first episode got the least views, but once each episode was uploaded - most of the views were on the day that it was uploaded and didn’t last long.

• I also think that our episodes got more views once we had put them on to YouTube - as we started uploading to Vimeo - that is a unpopular site compared to YouTube - therefore less views.

Reflecting

• This have been a difficult project and I think that I have learnt a lot from it.

• Mainly, I think I have learnt working in a team is hard and sometimes you need to make hard decisions to make sure that things get done and work well.

• I think that we need to manage our time better as well, as we tend to spend more time on getting our ideas together, than we do on making the product.

• If we want to make something that our audience will be interested in, we need make sure that we are giving them what they want and reply to feedback that is given to us.
