of children who have disclosed abuse learn how to answer critical questions and know what to do in the hours, days and years that follow their child’s disclosure. This guide provides information about how to navigate the process of reporting abuse to the authorities, information about what to expect during the follow-up investigation, the strategies to learn how to manage the emotional stress that inevitably follows disclosure and understand the steps to process the abuse as a family.

This guide was developed by the Lauren’s Kids

foundation in conjunction with Florida’s children’s advocacy centers, the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, therapists and parents of survivors.
