1. INTRODUCTION

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the Shop Floor Data Collection functionality helps maintain Production Operations on a single screen. The system has been designed keeping shop floor users in mind. The Shop Floor Data Collection for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is easy to navigate and simple to learn, enabling operators to complete their daily work activities with minimal effort in an efficient way. Tracking the live progress of each active operation delivers insight into the shop floor adherence to plan, helping to improve your on-time delivery performance. Shop floor managers can use the recorded data to manage productivity, accurately predict delivery dates, make more efficient decisions. The basics of the shop floor data collection system are simple:

• Create a Released Production Order with routing steps.

• Print the Job Card which includes the QR code for each operation.

• When the operator starts work on the operation, they scan their Employee QR code and the Operation QR Code from the Job Card to Start the Job.

• When the operator completes work on the operation, they scan their Employee QR code and the Operation QR Code from the Job Card and enter the Output Quantity to Stop the Job.

• Stopping a Job will automatically post the Output.

• Once the last operation is finished, the Production Order will be automatically Finished (If activated in the setup).

The field “Allow Shop Floor Multiple Job” allows you to select whether an employee can work on multiple jobs or not. The default value for all employees will be “Warning”. The Option “Warning” means the system will pop up a message indicating that the employee has one task already in process. If the employee selects OK, then it will create a new entry in the system. Whereas, if the employee selects Cancel, the system will not generate a new entry. The Option “Error” means the system will give an error if the employee already has an on- going task and tries to start a new one. Those employees will have to complete one job before they will be able to start a new one. To generate the QR Code for the Employees click on “Employee QR Code” button. Screen Shot 3

Under Manufacturing Setup there is a tab – “Shop Floor Data Collection”. This tab contains the fields related to the Shop Floor setup. Screen Shot 1

Field Description:

Field Name Description Shop Floor Posting Journal Template Name Select the Default Journal name which must be used for Shop Floor.

Shop Floor Posting Journal Batch Name Select the Default Batch Name which must be used for Shop Floor.

Shop Floor Post O/P with Bin The Input Box to scan the Bin Code on the “Stop Job” button will appear only if this flag is set to TRUE. Note that if the field is set to FALSE, the system will not show the Bin Code Box. The Output will be posted as it is posting currently. NOTE: To post the O/P with Bins, The Location Must have the “Bin Mandatory” set to TURE. Also, proper Bins must to defined for that location. (Refer to below Screen Shot 2 for Location Card)

Post Previous Operation Mandatory If this Flag is set TRUE, the system will check if all the previous operations are posted and give error if not yet posted. In this case, the system will allow to post the current operation only if all the previous ones are already posted.

NOTE: In the above case, the production order will auto finish once the last operation is posted.

If this Flag is set FALSE, the system will not check for the previous operations and will allow to post the Operations in any random order.
