WWe hope all is well with

everyone. With the first semester of school ending soon for all our kiddos, we are busy right now

with homework, projects and family

outings. Most of our kids are en-joying the school year thus far and have done well. We have several on honor roll (some for the first time, which is always fun to watch them achieve) and several others work-ing hard to come closer to grade level. Our school is such a blessing for our students that come be-hind and that have spe-cial academic needs.

Our three newest ad-ditions have been with us six months now. They are ages 8, 7, and 6. They are still adjusting, some better than others. Our 8 year old, Zyarie, was baptized in September and has latched on to Shiloh life. He knows being here is a gift, al-though it hurts to be away from the family he knew. He wrote a letter to us recently thanking us for his clothes, food and for giving him medicine (even though it doesn’t taste good, he said) when he doesn’t feel good. These letters, hugs and laughter we are able to hear from our kids makes every struggle more than worth it. We also had two other kids get baptized in Septem-

ber, which makes this fight worth the battle that we face every day for these kids. Some of our kids in our home right now have faced serious rejection, abandonment, abuse, and neglect. They have felt in their short lives hopeless and unloved. They are the definition of why we all do what we do, and we thank you so much for your part in this ministry. Now, while some of our kids are excelling, some are not. We have some that are struggling in big ways. It’s hard to go through some of what these kids have and not come out scarred. Often those

wounded take extra time and consistency to get comfortable enough to put guards down, so we wait patiently. It can be a scary thing to uncover past hurts and begin to heal, but healing is what our Savior does so well and we’re blessed beyond measure to be used by

Him every day!We are in a real battle for these

kids and we covet all your prayers and support. We have had a couple of our kids leave recently and we ask for your prayers for them and us as we transition. Please pray for guidance during these times and for other children that may enter our home. Please join us as we pray for discernment, guidance and strength. May God bless, guide and continue to use each of you. n

KOLARS’ KOMMENTS

Givers Help Shiloh Express the Love of JesusThanks to Givers, Shiloh can care for Children

GGreetings from the Kolars’ home! As usual it’s a bustling time on the ranch. We just finished open

house, which keeps us busy in the weeks leading up to it. This can be stressful but it’s a time for deep clean-ing our homes which we enjoy while it lasts. There was a great turn out this year despite the storm the night before. Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and help make our open house awesome!

Most of our kiddos are in activities and I don’t anticipate them slowing down anytime soon.

Asher has mowed all summer earning money for a laptop so he can create beats. I don’t understand music like he does, but I love what he makes. It blows my mind the things my quiet, introverted boy can ac-complish.

John did baseball over the summer and is now in football and band. He is undecided about basketball coming up but he’s a social kid. I think if enough of his friends go out, he probably will too. He is also working hard to stay on the honor roll.

Bella played softball over the summer. She is on a basketball league and enjoying it. She decided to join band this year and is

learning the clarinet. She is also managing to stay on the honor roll.

Devin, loved baseball over the summer. He is now in 2nd grade and has joined our church bible bowl

team. His first meet is coming up this weekend. I spoke with his teacher and she let me know that he is quick on the buzzer and usually with the correct answer. I think he is most excited that his meets are

at Central Christian Col-lege of the Bible. This is where his brothers Nate and Titus attend and he is thrilled to be on their campus and get to see them.

Larry continues to be…Larry. He wins the heart of everyone he meets. You just can’t help but love him. Recently he was refusing to do his work in school so as a consequence had to write

sentences here at home. “I will do my work in school.” He did eventually finish them, but not until he drew us a nice picture on the wall where he was sitting. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw it. It’s just such a Larry thing to do. I think I might just put a frame around it and call it art work.

Julianna of course is a ray of sunshine. She loves school! Even though she is a smart cookie and does great at her work, I’m pretty sure she mostly looks for-ward to social hour. Which is pretty much every hour for Juju. That girl has spunk.

MaKenna has had health problems recently, which has had her homebound for her schooling this last month or so. Being the introvert that she is, she is re-ally enjoying being able to do all of her schooling from home. She is starting to feel a bit better but could use your prayers.

I can’t tell you all enough how blessed we feel every day to love these kiddos and have the privilege to show them how much Jesus loves them too. Thank you for providing us the opportunity to be used by God to transform these Children’s lives. n

Blessings from,The Kolars Famly

MOORES’ MUSINGS

Givers Help Shiloh Show Children a New Outlook on a Hard LifeBecause of givers Shiloh can care for children

Dennae & Kirk Moore

TThis Sunday we were asked in the sermon if we liked change. I used to (Dennae). I used to love

a new adventure, conquest, or task. In the last couple of years though I’ve grown comfortable with a bit less change. We went for over two years with little change in our house at Shiloh, which is not the norm. I got comfortable and use to not changing. The thing with change is, we don’t always get a choice. This summer our family experienced a lot of change as five kids left in three weeks.

Our summer was spent healing and bonding as a unit with the six that were left. For the first time in 13 years this fall I sent every kid in the house to school. A day I had jokingly looked forward to for quite some time. It was bittersweet watching Luke load up, know-ing my days of toddler and baby duty were coming to a close. I have not hated it, but there are days that seem too quiet.

So, with change comes newness. I LOVE new-ness. The kids have all tackled several new things this fall. Abigail is cheering (not new), playing flute (also not new), and hoping to join FC-CLA (new). Titus is playing football this year, which is new for him. He is really enjoying it and learning a lot. Matthew is trying his hand at writing a book, which is putting his story telling abili-ties to a positive purpose. Josiah tried trap shooting through FFA at school this fall. He improved and enjoyed the expe-rience. Ezra is going to be Joseph in the church play. I think he will do great on stage. Luke is going to school ALL day, and without any fit. He is learning vow-els and consonants and loves to point them out any-where.

Along with new activities and challenges we also have a couple of new kiddos. Ashley and Robert joined our home in early October. We all have been settling in, and learning the ropes. It has been a long time since we had completely new kids in our home, since our last kiddos stayed so long. Everyone is ex-cited for the new kids the Lord is bringing to our fam-ily. We still have two slots to fill, and I’m sure in His

timing things will CHANGE AGAIN. Kirk is busy fixing things here, there, and ev-

erywhere. I am at a state of transition, and finding my new niche. In the meantime, I’ve been crocheting and reading when I find myself with time.

Mercy is officially in Nursing school, and work-ing one night a week as a medical assistant on the ICU. She is doing AMAZING. Continue to pray for her as she finishes these last two years of school.

Many of you have asked about the Claypool kids. For those of you who don’t know, the Claypools (Heaven, Grace, and Hunter). Came to Shiloh six years ago. They lived for a few months with the Beaureguards and then came to our home. They were with us for four and half years. There mom was in jail when they first came to us, but about three years ago she was re-leased. She worked hard for a year and half to get things in place to transition the kids into her care, which happened in May of this year. I am happy to report they are doing well. They have had some

bumps along the way, but Mom has persevered. She has a great relationship with us, and is quick to ask for prayer, advice, and support. The kids have settled in, and are enjoying school. Hunter’s teacher reports he is a model student. Grace is learning violin, and Heaven is enjoying having her own locker with a lock. We get to see them and have contact with them. Con-tinue to pray for them and their Mom. n

Blessings,The Moores

PENFIELD PROGRESS

Givers Bless the Work of Shiloh’s Homeparents“We all appreciate you beyond Words”

SSchool has start-ed.....temperatures

have finally cooled off...leaves are chang-ing and one of our fa-vorite times of year has arrived. We kicked off fall with a get-togeth-er with our friends at Fowler, Illinois for our

annual hayride....our school field trip to Harvestville Pumpkin Patch....and honor roll trip to a huge corn maze.

4H started a new year and with that some of our kids stepped up to new leadership roles.....Martin is vice-president, Rebekah is recorder, and Hannah is treasurer. Looking forward to seeing them grow in the months ahead!

Birthdays have been hot and heavy in recent months and on through December....Martin turned 14 in September. He’s now into archery and is hoping to be good enough to hunt in the near future. Rebekah also turned 14 in October and loves relaxing putting a puz-zle together (we always seem to have one in the process of being put together around our house! One of my favorite activities growing up!)

Hannah turns 12 in De-cember followed by Skye a week later turning 14. Lots of birthday pancakes ahead in upcoming months!

We were thrilled when Hannah accepted the Lord as her Savior. We have talked about it a long time, answered a lot of questions, and prayed about it even longer. We are praying two of our other children make that same step of faith in upcoming months. Please be praying for them and wisdom and direction for us and others as we work with them.

Ever since family camp this fall, Skye and Martin have a renewed love for playing disc golf with Dad P. Nick has a good hard throw but still needs to work on his accuracy.....love watching them get excited about

trying to beat Dad or Aaron. Looking forward to taking our families on site to

the Missionary Convention again this year. They enjoy getting to meet missionaries, learn about other coun-tries and God’s outreach to those in need, and working with preparing meals or beds for others. All good les-sons in life and preparing them for a future of serving others.

Each moment we have with our children is a gift and we are blessed to have you as part of that bless-ing...your prayers, your encouragement, your faithful dedication to serving our Lord and caring for His chil-dren. We all appreciate you beyond words! n

School Report Card…We have finished our first quarter at Shiloh Christian School

and were thrilled to have many students push themselves and accomplish great things! Our new teacher, Mrs. Tuttle, has certainly livened up things in the Elementary classroom and is fitting in well. Love how God works and has continued to bring us just who we need at the right time....turns out she and Mrs. Becky grew up together and even shared a room at band camp! Mrs. Becky, Mrs. Tuttle, and Mr. Justin make a good team and prove capable of whatever we face in the classrooms.

We got to go to our annual Educators Conference in St. Louis in October and enjoyed not just the workshops and challenges shared, but the time together to brainstorm how to improve and continue to challenge our students.

We’ve enjoyed several field trips since school began this year...from meeting and hearing Senator Roy Blunt speak in our town to going to Harvestville Pumpkin Patch and to an area corn maze for our 1st Quarter honor roll trip. We also went as a Kahoka site trip to Kansas City in October and planning to the Missionary Convention in November. So many teaching opportunities!!!

We have already seen our theme of “Overcomer” affecting the hearts of our students and feel it is God ‘s leading even way back in April of this year! We went as a school to see the new movie “Overcomer” (which I didn’t even know was coming out way back in the spring time when we felt God leading us to this focus!)…..it stirred many of them and one of our young boys felt led to surrender his life to the Lord. We’re excited about the lessons God has planned for our students…in the classroom and outside of it.

Thank you for your support and prayers for our teaching staff and students in the upcoming school year!

BLEW CREW

None of Shiloh’s Work Happens Without Giving from Caring Friends“Thanks again for your prayers and support”

DDear Friends,The first quarter of school has passed and we

all survived. This year has brought challenges academically for

a few of our kids. What a blessing that we have teach-ers at South Shelby willing to give extra help, not just for ours, but any students! A year ago, we felt like we were sending off the best crew to school ever. Well, this year was even better! Our kids want to be good kids and that is huge. We have a new Principal at the high school and some new teachers, and it seems to be a good fit.

We have three seniors, two juniors, a sophomore, and a freshman. Cheyenne just joined Mason on the list of licensed drivers, which will allow her to drive herself to work by 6:00 a.m. several mornings per week. Then at 10:30 she heads to school from Shelbina and that allows Mason to bring the car home with Jayk after football practice.

Erin is also working at Salt River Care. Hannah still works at the Vet and Indigo is with Clarence Care Cen-ter. Lillian landed the lead role in the school’s musical and Erin also has a major role. We are blessed to have a variety of things for kids to do. We are grateful to have kids be able to drive and have jobs. Such

valuable components of be ready for adulthood. This month I get to fill out college student finance

forms! Cheyenne is looking at Moberly Area Com-munity College and later CCCB with ideas of mission

work. Indigo is talking mili-tary, which will gain the guid-ance of this old Sergeant. The local Navy recruiter is Chief Hessell, our former neighbor just down the road. Mason vacillates between Commu-nity College, Welding school, etc.

I have enjoyed making more weekend trips to speak at supporting churches lately. When possible, I like to take kids along to let them speak

and express their appreciation for prayers and gener-osity. Kids and congregations have received this idea warmly. Even some we thought might be stage shy have gotten up and shared quite well. It has been help-ful to let them focus on an area of personal interest or involvement. Folks of any age tend to speak more comfortably on familiar topics. This is good practice for life, work, and ministry opportunities.

Mason had the chance to bring the lesson for high school youth group this past Wednesday night. Denice and I were teaching junior high, but we hear it went well. Last week Nate and Titus were here talking to him about Bible College, so add that to his list of pos-sibilities.

We don’t push Bible College with our kids, but we do push that every Christian should serve and be in-volved in sharing the Gospel. As mentioned, we share best what we know best. We want them to know Jesus best of all! Thanks again for your prayers and support. None of this happens without your investment of love into the lives of our kids. n

THE VAN DYKE VENUE

We Get to Plant the Seeds and Watch Them GrowOther times there are long dry spells

Caleb & DanielleVan Dyke

TThose who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to

sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” Psalm 126:5-6

I recently attended a women’s retreat where our speaker spoke on this verse. It hit so close to home as I feel it perfectly describes what we do as house parents. Many times we are shedding tears as we sow. But there is a promise in our sowing that is much greater and makes the weeping worthwhile.

The summer came to a close and we began another school year. We always have lots of mixed emotions about starting school. I for one have a love/hate rela-tionship with my kids starting school. It is nice to be back in routine and have some breathing time, but it also means my kids spend a majority of the day away

from me. I miss them so much, but they are doing well.

CJ is practi-cally a new kid. He has given me permission to share some per-sonal things about his development since he has been here, because he is

proud of how far he has come. CJ has lost 31 pounds since coming to Shiloh in May. This has been by diet change and activity level. He can feel the difference and those around him can see the difference in his body, but also his countenance. We all thought CJ was full of joy before, but this boy is about to burst with joy now. He has come off almost all of his medications and no longer sleeps with a C-pap machine. When he moved in his grades were not good and as of right now his lowest grade is a 90%. He grins ear to ear when you start talking about his grades and how far he has come.

We also added another boy, Nicholas, who joined us in September. He is 13 and in seventh grade. Nick

is an active boy and loves to be on the go. He loves, loves, loves to talk. Need-less to say, we have a chatty bunch in our house at this point. We are excited to see where Nick will be in a few months. Please be praying that we will have wisdom to guide him through his chal-lenges as they arise.

Blakely, Knox, Marlee have started school well this year. They are all getting good grades and participating in many things. Elsie isn’t sure what to do being the only one at home this year with mom and dad, but don’t let her fool you. She is eating it up.

I spoke at the beginning of this letter about sow-ing and reaping. It seems the last couple of years has been a minimal harvest. Lots of sowing accompanied by lots of tears, but not much reaping. I am overjoyed to share with you that Blakely Carlene gave her life to Christ in July and was baptized. I am also happy to report that Maribella, a child who once did not believe in God, is asking to do a baptism study and learn more about this Jesus she hears so much about. Please be in prayer for us and her as we help her navigate this. She is of the mindset that SHE must make her life right first, and we are talking with her about Jesus being the only one to fix the problems and struggles in her life.

Sometimes we are fortunate and get a glimpse of the harvest. We get to plant the seeds and watch them grow in front of our eyes. Other times there are long dry spells where we sow and sow, but with what seems like no growth or change. I, for one, have to be reminded from time to time that it is in eternity where we will reap the full harvest. We will see the fruits of our labor and of every seed sown here in Jesus’ name. Thank you for your continued prayers. n

Grace and Blessings,Caleb and Danielle VanDyke

Thank you for your continued

prayers.

BETHEL BUNCH

This is a Huge Chapter Closing for Our LivesOur hopes are that we can still be apart of this ministry, just in a different capacity.

Jon & Joy Bethel

DDear Friends,Our first experi-

ence with Shiloh, began years ago. We would drive up to the Clarence site on Sunday afternoon to take the church barrel of sup-plies and drop it off. We would drop into Kevin and Denise Blew’s home, to just stay a few minutes. However, if you know us or the Blews those few minutes turned into a little longer visit! We became even more familiar with the ministry when our niece came to live at the Ka-hoka site. At that point we really became familiar with the way of life on the ranch. It was even mentioned, at one point, that we would make good house parents, we laughed. However, God was working on us to do exactly that, to become house parents. Our journey began years back, this ministry has been part of our life and our boys’ life for a very long time. With heavy hearts we have decided to leave Shiloh.

Shiloh friends, we want to thank you for all that you do or have done for this ministry. Shiloh could not do what they do without each person that contributes to this ministry. Shiloh would not exist if it wasn’t for the dream that began so many years ago. It wouldn’t have continued through all the years without supporters, or prayer warriors, for the board members, from house parents, and so many others throughout the years. Another group of dear supporters to us have always been the work groups. It has always been such a bless-

ing to have them come and work alongside of us at the ranch. The work that was done was always a blessing but the fellow-ship that happened was priceless! We have made many friends along the way and hope that those will continue throughout the years.

As our time is end-ing here at Shiloh, our hearts will always have sweet memories and lots of stores that will be a part

of our family forever. This is a huge chapter closing for our lives and for Justin, Jared and Jaden’s lives as well. We have a special place in our hearts for all the kids that have come into our lives through ministry. We have had lots of kids that we have prayed with, cried with or cried for when they left the ranch. Think it will be harder yet, to say goodbye to the kids that are still here. We have always said that the kids are a part of our family and that will not change. Our hopes are that we can still be apart of this ministry, just in a dif-ferent capacity.

We thank you for your love and support to this ministry, for your love and support of us and our fami-ly. We ask selfishly to be in prayer for us, Justin, Jared and Jaden as this chapter of our lives ends and a new one begins. Thank you for memories. God bless you all! n

Jean & Adam Roush

HHello to All,I hope things are going well for you, it is great

to have the fall season among us, to enjoy the cooler temps, and the changing of leaves on the trees. It’s just a great time to be outside and enjoy God’s creations. Can we get an amen?!

We also would like to thank you for all the prayers and love you send our way; we need them more each day. Our house has been busy ever since school got going. The girls are in activities after school and that keeps us on the move along with other things that go on out here on the ranch. Doesn’t seem to be any breath-ing room anytime soon, that is what keeps us young we think!

Lora has been busy reading this school year. If the school would count all her RC points she already has, she would be done for the year. We are proud of her for her reading.

Georgia is busy again with cheerleading for foot-ball and is getting her drivers permit. It’s crazy to think she is almost sixteen. She has done well with her grades the 1st quarter of school. Our kids would not be able to do a lot of things if it wasn’t for each of you, what ever that looks like for the ministry. Again, thank you.

Our open house this year went well. It was good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. We enjoyed getting to visit with some of you. Sometimes it might not seem that things will come together, but in our busy world, it always does. God does take care of us very well.

Belle is our 7th grader and is involved in school activities. Softball just finished up and she’s jump-ing right into basketball. She also does band. Last year and the beginning of this one, she started on the drums and was good at it, but decided she wanted to try the saxophone and has picked it up quickly.

Thank you for helping Shiloh

Charlie is getting adjusted to sixth grade and is also doing basketball. Some of you already know that she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in August, she has been doing great so far. We thank you for the prayers

and continue to ask for more for her and Georgia.

Life is hard and our kids are asked to do a lot at a young age, it doesn’t matter if they are placed kids or our own. Shiloh is such a blessing to be part of and things are not always sweet and rosy, but at the end of the day we are blessed to have friends like you and a heavenly father that loves, forgives, and shows grace and mercy to us even when we

don’t deserve it. Thank you all again and may our journey in life

bring us closer to his kingdom! n

Mark My Words

We Thank YouWe couldn’t be the Shiloh Family without you.

FFamily. To be part of a family is an important part of anyone’s growth and development. From birth,

the love and support a child receives is a crucial as-pect of how they grow and develop as an individual. As we know, that baseline support and love is not always there for every child. So, there needs to be a place for those children to find the love and support that they so desperately need and deserve. That is why Shiloh is here and why we seek God’s direction and blessing to offer our ministry to those who need a family.

Family. If you are reading this, you are part of our Shiloh Family. You have the passion to care about the achievements, challenges, issues, and needs of our children in our Shiloh homes. You fervently pray for the children to seek God, His teachings and character. You pray for the children’s homeparents so they have the wisdom and energy to love them and allow them to provide a Christian home. You sacrifice your time by coming to our ranch sites and offer your servant heart and energy to work alongside our staff to com-plete projects to grow or maintain our ministry facili-ties. Or you generously give of your financial or physi-

cal resources to make sure that our ministry has what it needs to continue to be a safe and Godly place for our children to live.

Family. We thank you for being a part of our Shi-loh Family. We couldn’t be the Shiloh Family without you. You are an integral part of our mission to love and care for abused, neglected, and at-risk children. Thank you for being there for our children.

Family. We would love to have new Shiloh Family members. Please tell your friends, neighbors, or fam-ily about Shiloh, a place where Christ is the head of a family that loves and cares for children.

We thank you for being part of our Shiloh Family. Our prayer is we can be there for the children that God sends our way and thankful for our Shiloh Family be-ing there for us. It makes a difference! n

Please Send a Gift to Help Shiloh ContinueYour gift will help Shiloh bless victims and other at-risk children.

Do you want to make a difference for the Kingdom of God even after you pass on from this life? One powerful way you can

accomplish this would be through a planned gift to Shiloh. There are many ways to make a planned gift, so we recommend that you discuss it with your financial planner to see what solution is best for you. Please call us at phone number (573) 588-2191, if

there is any way we can assist you.

Please send a gift in the enclosed envelope to help Shiloh love and

protect children.

Please send a gift to help Shiloh, bless children like this girl.

By joining other givers, you will help Shiloh grant boys and girls another opportunity at childhood. You will help Shiloh’s homeparents shield children from Satan’s attack. n

CChildren suffer from abuse and neglect in commu-nities like yours and mine. They attend school, hang out with friends, maybe

even work a part-time job, but inside they carry hurt and shame. These children need a place to feel loved and protected. They need a home led by a caring hus-band and wife.

They need to hear God sent Jesus to die on the cross for their sins.

Today you can assist in helping boys and girls live in Godly homes. Because of giving from friends like you, Shiloh cares for victims and at-risk children. Generous giving helps Shiloh place children in homes to hear the gospel of Jesus.

Boys and girls will eat nutritious meals. They will learn the value of a day’s work and see their own hands and feet serve the Kingdom of God.

Please send a gift in the enclosed envelope to help Shiloh love and protect children.

Much is at stake. The only way Shiloh can have the money to house and meet the needs of boys and

girls is through the gifts friends like you send. Please help Shiloh restore the broken

hearts of victims and other at-risk children. By sending a check in the enclosed enve-lope, you can help Shiloh cover its expenses.
