History :
Shiksha Mandal is a century old institution, based at Wardha , the undeclared capital of pre-independence India, founded by Shri Jamnalal Bajaj, it was deeply influenced by freedom struggle and Gandhiji. In fact, the nations's first education conference was held in Shiksha Mandal in 1937, at which Gandhiji presided. Starting with a student hostel, it established a school at Wardha in 1919. It moved to higher education in 1940 when its Commerce College was established at Wardha.
The Presidents of Shiksha Mandal have been from the Bajaj family. Shri Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto Ltd., is its current President.
Motto:The Motto of Shiksha Mandal is 'Aadanahi Visargaya' which means 'whatever is gained is for
sharing'. Shiksha Mandal started educational institutions because it saw-education as being critical for the nation's development. Both, this idea and its commitment to it, continue to be valid. Its purpose is to add value and values to students.
Values :The corner stone of any good education are teachers for whom education is a vocation, and not a
job; and students who want to learn and upgrade their capabilities and potential. Shiksha Mandal is an institution for and of such teachers and such students.
Merit is an important value for us. Merit is recognised and supported. So, is honesty. Being just is equally important.
We practice simplicity and frugality, even as essentials are in place. We try to inculcate dignity of labor, the joy of hard work, fearlessness and a sense of responsibility towards society. In our view humanity, nation, institution and individual are the hierarchy of considerations within which one must act.
We believe in equality of opportunity. No meritorious student is denied admission for lack of financial resources. We nurture the strong, but pay special attention to the weak. Anyone striving to improve is worthy of support.
These values are to be imbibed through the behavior of all of us at Shiksha Mandal. Shiksha Mandal quietly carries on its work of providing quality education steeped in nationalistic ethos and human values at an affordable cost. It is conscious of its legacy but modern in its sensibility.
Its institutions are set in sprawling campuses with good infrastructure. Most of its institutions are affiliated to R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur. 6 of its 7 institutions are aided by the Government. All its UGC recognised colleges are NAAC accredited.
Its Science College has been rated as a College with Potential for Excellence Phase-II by the University Grants Commission(UGC) and is the only College in Vidarbha to be awarded under Star College scheme of the Department of Biotechnology. It has been awarded an 'A' grade by National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC). Its Agriculture College is rated as A by its affiliating University and its Engineering Polytechnic as "Excellent" by Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education. Shiksha Mandal has also been involved in rural development for the last 41 years.
Its students feature regularly in the merit list, for accomplishments in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities. Eminent Alumni include the Late Shri Madhukar Chaudhary (ex-Speaker of Maharashtra), Shri. Harish Salve, Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Shri. Udayan Sen, CEO of Deloitte, Shri. Jaydeep Shah, ex-President of ICAI, Shri Ramesh Chandak, MD of KEC International and Justice Arun Choudhary (Bombay High Court), Shri. Prashant Pise, Ambassador to Tunessia.

heritage building where Shiksha Mandal began.
J. B. College of Science has come to be a premier institution for Science in Central India offering
both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science. Botany and Chemistry laboratories are
recognised for persuing the Ph.D program. Recognition of M/B Laboratory is under process.
Affiliated to R.T.M., Nagpur University, Nagpur, it offers modern courses like B.Sc.
Biotechnology, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Sc. Electronics, besides the
traditional B.Sc. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and B.Sc. Chemistry, Botany, Zoology. It also has
the popular Junior College for Science.
Housed in a 36 acres campus with 13 acres of sports fields, it has excellent laboratory, library and
computing facilities and emphasis on students doing practical and projects. Its library houses over
32,000 books. It has a faculty strength of 39, of which 24 are Ph.D's. Three of them are State and
National teacher award winners. One of teacher has own university level award.
The college has utilized UGC grants of Rs. 1 Crore under CPE and Rs. 77 lakhs under Basic
Science Research. College has been supported under Star College Scheme by Department of
Biotechnology, Govt. of India and spent around Rs. 50 lakhs. Recently college has received Rs. 1.5
Crore by UGC under CPE Phase-II.
J.B. College of Science believes in providing quality education and opportunities to each
students to develop his/her talent, in development of self-discipline. But external discipline is also in
place. Students wear uniforms, have to be in college premises during the day and 75% attendance is
mandatory. Regular class tests, seminars and projects are part of our education process. Inter
collegiate students' seminars are arranged by all Departments. We have system of mentoring students
through cluster. A strong tradition of NSS, NCC, Sports and Extra-Curricular activities exist.
Success is not measured in terms of how many students joined the institution, but in terms of how
well we have been able to shape the career of the students. Eleven students of B.Sc. final appearing
have cleared IIT-JAM entrance examination which is stupendous performance shown by our
students. Our Institution is regularly conducting campus recruitment programme.
Problems of the students are analysed and counselling by professional counsellors along with the
dedicated faculty is offered to improve the confidence and performance. Recently we have organized
four workshops for students for skill enhancement in cordination with National Centre for Cell
Sciences, Pune. The eminent Scientists have shared their expertise with our students during their stay
in workshops.
We believe in constantly improving our standard of education. From last few years we are
providing basic computer literacy programme and a certificate course in English to all the students
enrolled in J. B. College of Science. The coming years would see a major upgradation of our physical
infrastructure, courses on offer etc.
We invite you to be a part of J. B. and transform your life.
