Shepherd’sVoice By Mark Copeland
Those Serving in May
Don’t Quit! The story is told of a preacher that had determined to retire from the ministry. One Sunday he told the congregation, “I wear two hearing aids and trifocal glasses, I have a partial plate and I sometimes walk with a cane. It seems that the Lord is telling me it is time to retire.” After the service, a white haired lady told the preacher that he had misinterpreted what the Lord had been saying to him. Instead of telling you that it is time to retire; He is telling you that if you keep going, He will keep patching you up.
Satan will use all of his tools of deception to get to our hearts. One of those tools is to get us to quit by making us think that we are worn out, can’t go any further, or the struggle is just too bur-densome.
Paul reminds us in II Cor. 4:16-17, “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all com-parison. He writes again in Phil. 3:13-16.......forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus......let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.
Luke writes about what Jesus said in Lk. 18:1-8. Now He was tell-ing them a parable to show that at all times they ought pray and not to lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’ “ And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”
Many of this congregation are undergoing painful burdens. Don’t quit! Remain faithful!
R&C 2016 Graduating SeniorsWe celebrated with our graduating seniors with a banquet in their honor on Sunday evening. Parents reminisced and embarrassed these seniors and other family members came to show their support as we all enjoyed a wonderful meal together.
Jacob and the crew did a great job of putting on a very nice banquet. The decorations were great, the serving was exceptional, the seniors were well honored!
