Mr. K just hired me to work at 3211 Inc. at an entry level position. I am going to earn Quebec minimum wage which is $10.55 per hour and work a workweek of 37.5 hours. I had to do my own shopping such as foods, hygiene, clothes, furniture’s, shelter, transportation and telephone. When I did this project, I felt like an adult because these are the things that adults do. For example, my parents gave me food, house, clothes, cleaning products, furniture’s, paid for my transportation and telephone. It was preparing me for the future because when the time arrives, I have to do these things. What I learned about the world of financial planning is that living in minimum wage is very difficult to live but I still made it and made my entire balance which is $17277.65. Also that the life of adults is very hard and some of their kids sometimes complain and always want what they want. Also to always spend money less because if I spend lots of money, I will not have any money left. The easiest part of this assignment was about the foods because I eat lots of different junk foods and I had plenty of foods on my mind. Also the easiest part was when putting the pictures but some pictures won’t even appear so I had to go to google image. So I had to find the exact image which was easy because all pictures were there. The most difficult part was about the clothes because there were lots of nice clothes but it was expensive and I bought lots of jeans and pants. Also I had to go to different websites and had to find where all the products are and see which one is the best and is not expensive. Yes, it was difficult to work out a monthly budget because I went over the income and had to change my furniture’s. I had divided the furniture’s into 12 because I will not buying furniture’s for every month. When I changed the furniture’s it was perfect and went under the income. I found my information about my expenses by the website of Mr. K because the websites tells everything what you need to know, if not you can contact him. I put the categories of food, shelter, clothes etc. and the cost of the categories which all makes the expenditure if added together. I can apply what I learned about this assignment to my life because everyone buys something and if they do not have enough money, they will not buy it but if they do have money they will buy it. Some people buy items that are not expensive and that are expensive. It will affect my future decisions because the prices today might not become the prices in the future. Also there might become new items that are not here and the items can be sold out

I am shopping in IGA to buy my groceries for one week. I do not eat a lot but, when it comes to junk food, I love eating it. When I eat lots of junk food I do not

get full, I just want to have some more because I am addicted to junk food. I think I bought plenty of food, so I do not starve and I think it is the perfect amount of buying this food. The total cost per week is $65.59 and the estimate for a month

is $262.36 because since there are four weeks in a month, I multiplied it by 4.

I am looking for a good small apartment for myself that is less expensive because since I am living in minimum wage I need to spend less money. I bought this apartment because the owner pays for the heat, electricity and hot water. It has one bathroom which is small and it is clean and quiet and there are new laundry machines in the basement. It has a bus stop in front of my apartment and has two metro stations which are Victoria and Cote St Catherine. There is also a convenience store next to the building so I can just buy food. Even though this apartment is expensive, I like it because I get free electricity.

Hygiene and cleaning products budget

I bought all the products in Walmart where and I bought lots of cleaning products for my bathroom, kitchen, my room and many more. I bought some products that were cheap such as a toothbrush holder that was $1.00 and the Comet Lemon 20% Bonus that cost 98¢. Also I find that the cost for hygiene products are very cheap and whenever I have a dirty apartment, I can just clean with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and with Great Value. I did not buy that much cleaning product because my apartment is small but I think these are the important products that I will be using every month. The most expensive item, I bought is the Lysol wipes which came to

a cost of 5.27, which I think is an overly priced price

I am shopping in Walmart again for my clothes and the clothes that I bought are very expensive such as one of my pants that costs $29.98. Also my underwear

Furniture/ Household Necessities

I got my apartment furnished in Ikea because there are beautiful furniture’s and it is the right and perfect place to go there especially if you want your house or apartment to be furnished. I bought the tables with four chairs and the shelf that cost $25.00 which I thought it was the perfect price. I already had furniture’s at home such as the utensils, couch, plates, bed etc. The estimate of my monthly amount would be $238.93 which is higher than the clothes and I did not buy lots of furniture’s because I had plenty at home so I wanted save my money for something else.

I think I do not need a regular phone because I will not use it because I already have a cell phone. I can just use my cell phone to call instead of the regular phone. Even though, the TV Service is expensive but what can I say, I love watching movies in the TV.

7. Transportation

I think the best to spend my money less would be if I just take the bus because I will put a monthly pass in my opus. I think if I bought a car, it would cost more money because I have to pay for the gas and the car. If I took the bus, I need to know where all the bus stops have to be and have to know where I have to go and not get lost. Also if I took a bike, I have to pay for the helmet and I will get tired if I rode my bike too much. So I decided to take the bus which will have fewer consequences than taking the car and riding the bike.

8. Extras

I will go to Cinema Guzzo on Tuesday because the ticket cost $7.00 and on the other day’s it is really expensive. When I am going to Cinema Guzzo, I will watch the Movie Star Wars that was released not too long ago. When I watched the trailer on TV, I was so excited that I closed the TV because I didn’t want the trailer to spoil anything. I hate when people always spoil the movie, it gets me so frustrated that I feel like not watching the movie, just like my cousin Ali. I will go to Cinema Guzzo with my cousin Ali because we both like watching movies at the cinema and hopefully it will be a great movie, but deep inside I know it will be a good movie. I also want to go to La Ronde which I already have a season pass but I have to pay for the food which I will bring $20.00 for myself.

Monthly costs: $7.00 for the ticket and $5.00 for the food and $20.00 for La Ronde which makes the total of $32.00.

Conclusion

To complete this project, I decided to go to IGA for the groceries that I will be buying for myself. I bought lots of junk foods, cereals, snacks, juices etc. Some of the foods are the one that I buy today such as the cereals, the snacks and juices. Since we are living in minimum wage, we had to spend less money on our items. I never go to IGA to shop with my mom, we always go to Super C but I went to IGA for the project because I wanted to choose something new and different. I never go to IGA but I only went there once. I choose Kijiji as the shelter because of the

name. I never went to Kijiji and it had a great apartment that was less expensive and was clean. I choose Walmart for the furniture’s and for the clothes and had nice shirts such as the Batman and Superman shirt. Also the Batman boxers which it just made me to buy all the clothes. I choose Walmart because it has everything what you are looking for. I chose La Ronde and Cinema Guzzo because when I looked at the examples, the two things that came to my mind were these two. Also I am taking the bus to travel because I take the bus to go to school and it is less expensive. Last year, my dad used to drop my cousins, my sister and I to school but he always had to wake up and drive. He had to do the same routine and decided that I will take the bus.
